I hate the cringy click bait thumbnails that seems to be the trend now days. I actually sometimes just avoid those clicks because it's just dumb. The world already feels so fake and disposable as it is, we need more real in the world... just my 0.00000002 satoshis.
I agree 110%. I stopped clicking on any of his video's when he's done this. Plus his video's have become sooooo boring lately. The same 2 minute walk around and 2 minutes driving is NOT enough to review a vehicle.
@@dfwvtxmanI agree especially when the test drive segment is just him driving around one city block and then back to the dealer. Understandable if he’s working within the confines of what the dealers allow, but hard to really get a good driving impression from that.
I prefer your original thumbnails that show the entire car because I like to know exactly what the car looks like to see if I'm even interested in researching further. But in the newer thumbnails, it's difficult to make out what car it is and what it looks like. And yes, you do put the exact car make, model, and trim in the title, but I think that's only useful for people who already know exactly what car that is, but for a lot of other people, the name may not be enough and we'd like to see what the car actually looks like first.
I started off watching a lot of car related stuff on YT, but have now wheedled out the rubbish and yours is one of the channels I still find entertaining. Keep doing what you do. You do it well. Thanks.
I can tell you when I want a vehicle review, I type it in then I specifically look for you. You get right to the point. Others blab WAY too much and waste my time. You're my go-to guy!

People that are looking for a review of a specific car truck etc etc are going search for that vehicle not a person making faces I know that’s what YT tells you to do… but if I see that I consider that clickbait and I move on

biggest thing i don't like about them is how you still have your old look in them. When I click in, and you look so different, it makes it stick in our heads and distracts from the vehicles.
I love your videos for review. I will still watch your videos. I am not crazy about the new thumbnails personally but I totally understand your reasoning. Please keep up the great work and look forward to your next video.
Ben, brother do what’s right for you. I watch, anyway. I like your reviews, because they’re not over the top and you give honest assessment of vehicles.
There's no telling how long RUclips will be paying its content creators to the extent that it has, and with constant advancement in tech, there's no guarantee that RUclips will be relevant in the future. If I were you, I would depend on YT to provide for the present but I would not necessarily depend on them to provide for the future.
you did the hard part and built an audience! should be pretty easy to check out what other channels are doing to monetize. do you have a pod? do you sell mugs and shirts? working at a dealership rn sounds brutal
I don't know how long I've been subscribed to the channel but this is the first video the I watched every second of it. So if you're thinking of doing a vlog channel YES 👍.
Couple of comments/thoughts. WRT the thumbnails: I trust you. I trust your reviews. Knowing more of yuour background emphasizes the quality and sincerity you put into your reviews. I appreciate that. There are many YT sites to choose, but none give me the same assurance as I get when I watch your videos. I like the close ups of the cars. I don't care for the emotional gestures you make in some of the thumbnails because it implies either the car is bad or you didn't like it. In many ways, it is no different than the click-bait titles you've used. You don't need them. Your reviews are stand-alone and are my go to source for vehicle reviews. Post 5-years, hire a crew to perform the videos; remain as senior editor. You provide an essential service. Trust in either a dealer (if you become one again) or in the process of buying 6 figure vehicles.

The title is relevant too I would say, which pair w the thumb. What longterm impact will i have also, because it's good for attracting new viewers, but people will begin to know that it's just a ploy and it becomes less effective. I could talk for 2 long about this im gonna go

Just an observation... in almost all of your videos (which I enjoy watching) ... you talk SO fast I sometimes have to back it up and turn on captions. In this video, your speech speed was perfect... I could understand you perfectly without issue. Do with that whatever you wish. As for the thumbnails... I like seeing a picture of the subject in full, so I know exactly what I'm getting vs. a picture of a grill that could be anything.

Do you really think people click on your videos because, like almost every other channel owner, you're making a shocked face or posing in some manner? They're not. In my case, I am looking for information about vehicles I might want to purchase. I don't care about a reviewer's opinion about the vehicle. I am looking for the features, the tech, etc. "Influencers" have no influence on me.
Hey Ben, do what you have to do to make a buck. For me, 95% of YT car reviews are for entertainment vs actual help in making a purchase decision. After all the years of buying new vehicles, the most honest, comprehensive and useful fact based review is obtained from owners of said vehicle. The guy in the Home Depot lot is going to give you the skinny on their vehicle without all the fluff. The hyperbole and fanboy antics on YT are insane and don’t represent real world experience.
I don’t understand the new cringy headshot trend in video thumbnails, it’s weird and moreso for the younger RUclipsrs. Also the clickbaity titles aren’t the best either. I do still enjoy the car content though.
My biggest issue with the new thumbnails is the old headshots. Seeing you skinnier with shorter hair and beard on the thumbnail then clicking in to see a long haired lumberjack is a bit jarring.
I guess the new thumb nails would work to catch that easily fooled person with a "clickbait" thumbnail. And I'm using the term "clickbait" not to be offensive, or judgemental but you and I both know what it's trying to accomplish, and that's attracting other types of viewers. Soni guess you'll need to ask yourself or find out is, if that viewer you just attracted us going to stick around or just be a one and done. That could be a positive, cause your not looking for a series but just another single view. I myself am just a car enthusiast and enjoy watching any of your quick car reviews even if I'm not planning to buy that vehicle. Personally for me, and I'm 45 if that means anything. I feel that your new thumbnails would fall in line with the term "clickbait". But I know your content, and I would look beyond it, as long as the content doesn't truly change. But thank you for coming out to just share what your intentions are, because that is what will keep you grounded within reality.
