Coming in a bit late but the best purchase is another core set. You'll get 2 X Wings, 4 TIE fighters, an extra set of dice, extra components at a much lower cost as buying separates
I'm completely new and looking to buy, so perhaps you could answer a question. Does buying two core sets mean that you have duplicate characters and upgrade cards? Would this take away from the game? It seems like a good value, but I would like a variety of characters and actions.
@@abelb.7997 just started playing and got 2 core sets, would recommend. Yes you have duplicate characters, however each ship has multiple choices of character. For example, there are 4-5 tie pilots. But you only get 2 tie fighters. So you will have more than enough characters. You get to use red Six and Red five if you have 2 xwings etc etc. Plus, each ships has extra cards that come with it. Abilities and wotnot. So having 2 core sets means lots more cards sooo if you eventually get more ships, you will have spare cards to upgrade and edit them to your pleasure. And lastly, with the range ruler you will have 2. This means if you cut the range one off of one then you effectively have a range 1 2 and 3 ruler. So yes would defo recommend 2 core sets it's heaps of fun and very good for the price :)
If you don’t have any 1.0 ships and/or you don’t care about having the miniatures than the conversion kits are the best way to get a TON of ships fast. The scum and villainy conversion kit alone gives you i think 39 maneuver dials with at least 2 of each ship type. Plus the massive amount of upgrade cards adds a lot of options, as if the huge number of ship options weren’t enough. Only issue is you will have to find your own bases for the ships, as it pretty much comes with none. But for only $45 it’s absolutely a steal. Conversion kits are objectively the best way to get the bang for your buck. For reference, if you wanted to buy 39 ships separately (let’s give it the *generous* rounding of $15 per ship) it would cost AT LEAST $585! Versus just buying a conversion kit and a few bases for AT MOST $100. TLDR: just buy conversion kits, nothing else. And a few bases. Unless you can’t resist the 500 dollar plastic.

Just getting into X Wing. These videos are so helpful! Unfortunately I cant get past picking my favorites first. So, a core set, the Millennium Falcon, Slave I, and a freshly pre-ordered Razor Crest round out my first purchases.

I am fairly new and been dabbling with most of 2.0 ruble fleet. I watch the 1.0v of this video, and been hung up on whether to buy a conversion kit. This was a great intro video. Thank you
Great video! I started playing x-wing a couple months ago and really appreciate your videos, especially these "buy first" budget lists. Funny, I thought the same thing about the Ghost but got into watching Rebels (due to excitement of playing this game lol) and now I want a Ghost reeeaally bad! lol
I got that Saw's Renegades 1.0 set for $17, I dont play that faction a lot but it was too good to let go. The one time I flew them I really liked it but playing $40 for the 2.0 just to have extras feels like a hit. Good to know I made a good purchase.
If day get the core set and then the new phoenix cell pack to fill out ur collection and get some cool new ships, and then either saws renegades, cuz if value and another X-Wing, (and a support ship w/ the u wing) or a twinge, cuz of the y wing upgrades in phoenix cell and it is also a decent ship, but not nearly as much value. All for under 100 bucks. I like this list, but some of the new stuff is also good. For may 2020 I agree with it. Great vid

Nice video serie, both for xwing or armada. I've been looking for these games, trying to decide witch one I prefer to get into, and you help me a lot, thank you.

Just getting into game and video initially seemed very helpful but couldn’t finish because of the sheer amount of ads that kept interrupting the video.
I still can't believe I've never jumped into X-wing. I've got most everything for Armada, save the two newest big ships that just came out a few months ago, but I've kept my distance from X-wing, mostly for budget and time reasons. (Sadly, I'm not getting to play most of the games...so many games...that I've bought the last few years...but the collections keep growing for "someday".) And Armada is already my starship minis drain...can't support two right now. One of the reasons that I've stayed out is because I know me and my OCD. At some point, I'd feel the need to have an entire squadron (12 fighters) of each of the starfighters (at least the Original Trilogy fighters...X, Y, A, B...TIE/ln, TIE X1 Advanced, TIE Bomber, & TIE Intercepter)...and that's a lot of ships that I'll never likely be able to field at once when/if I ever got to play. But still...maybe someday I'll jump in and be able to be satisfied with just an element (2 fighters) or flight (4 fighters) of each ship. Seriously, you should see the OCD way I'm buying Armada. I've named every ship in my fleets and I'm trying to get enough squadrons to match the carry capacity of each ship and naming each of those squadrons. It's been tough because it is hard to find Imperial and Rebel squadrons right now. I know I still need quite a few Imperial squadrons since I picked up the Super Star Destroyer (Imperator) which carries two full TIE wings (6 squadrons to a wing = 12 squadrons). I stumbled across an Imperial Starfighters pack last month...so I think I just need one more pack as I'm 7 TIE squadrons shy of having physical squadrons for every Imperial capital ship capacity. OCD is tiring and budget-breaking... At least Rebel starfighter wings are only 3 squadrons each...though I think I still need another Rebel Starfighter pack to load out my Rebel capital ship capacity too.
I’m pretty astonished that lots of basic stuffs like the squadron in armada is constantly out of stock. it's like ffg doesn't really care about this game anymore or something. i was a long time xwings player and eyed for armada for a long time and recently had made resolution to dive into it and no... lots of things are nowhere to be found and i'm giving up now. i really love the big ships and owning a ISD miniature is like my childhood dream but no, it's out of stock now.

Or its only for 1.0?
Please can you do a list of pilots and updates for an x-wing, y-wing and b-wing?. I have these three ships because I love art of them. It doesn't have to be a very competitive list, it's just for fun. I'm a newbie.
If I have a 1.0 core set, do I need the conversion kit to use those original ships with 2.0. I am planning to buy the 2.0 core set as well. Just wondering. Thanks.
Would love to know what Extended ships you'd recommend in order. For all factions. Also, haven't seen any FO or Resistance guides, not sure if those are in the works? Love the videos!
I’m returning to X-Wing after quitting a little before the 2.0 launch. After getting the conversion kits am I getting the same upgrade and pilots I would if I was to rebuy 2.0 ships?
So I have all of these except for Saws Renegades (I played 1.0). I was waiting till it came out for 2.0 but now I’m wondering if I should just get the 1.0 one with the 2.0 content...
FFG said that any re-releases wouldn't have anything new in them that is not found in the expansion pack/already put. So the only differences between a 1.0/2.0 Saw's Renegade and an only 2.0 would be the X-Wings would most likely close their wings better and the cost. 2.0 has a 25% mark up on all 1.0 ships. So a 40 buck 1.0 pack will be 50 msrp in 2.0. I highly recommend getting the older one, especially if you can find it for 30ish.
I don't know how anyone else feels about it, but I play casually and this 2.0 thing has sort of pushed me away, the old ships have started going up in price so I can't buy those, and I don't really understand what 2.0 does differently regarding backwards compatibility....

You should mention in the beginning the formats as well. Extended and Hyperspace. Hyperspace format was originally designed for new players but now it's such a shit format design it makes these types of videos nearly useless. Which is a shame because they're really helpful. I'm very biased against the hyperspace format. So much so I truly believe it could kill the game. It's overly restrictive and will push new players away who will buy a ship they love then learn they can't play it.
I'm not talking about hyperspace in these videos at all because it changes too frequently to really mention in a video that's going to be viewed presumably for years. Newer players probably won't be playing in competitive events anyhow - though I do absolutely understand your point here.
@@Crabbok My community isn't the best and likes to play competitive majority of the time and even do "casual" game nights as hyperspace practice. The video is sound. It's just I keep thinking of Magic the Gathering. It's like seeing a video for budget players getting into the game without being told if it's for Modern or Standard.
