Owing atto3 for 4 month now, so fun to drive, most comfortable car I have ever owned, and the smartest as well. The seat and steering wheel is just the best combination, even more comfort to steer than the BMW M2C which is a nice sports car. The car reminds me if I forgot to close the door or forgot to turn the low beam light, even remind me to check the coming vehicle before I open the driver door. Also avoid a hit by stop my merge to the next lane while a car just behind and in a blind viewing area.

BYD pricing in Europe is a big problem, price gouging by the local distributor has hindered the ev to be selling in large volume. The same problem in Malaysia in a lesser extent.
A couple of weeks ago in China, an Uber/DiDi driver picked me up in this car (or Yuan as it is known there). The driver said he got this car because it saves him so much on gas and maintenance.
This car is superb. Best bang for your money. You can never go wrong with BYD. Love the interior and most importantly the battery. You can actually drive further than the range they advertise

Good luck with the car after 5 years, good luck buying a replacement battery and reduced battery life. The electric motor is cheap and does not provide a constant smooth delivery on highways and its pretty expensive for a Chinese built car. But a vw golf gti if u want a better driving experience and build quality.
I doubt they would go to the U S anytime soon. There is a bigger market elsewhere. Not worth the headache going i to the U S. I think it better to let the U S citizen enjoy more inflation, paying more for everything for a longer period of time. Otherwise they will never learn to be grateful. lovely car. I looked at one in the dealership, and tested the automatic boot close function, to my surprise it didnt stop when I obstructed with my hand, it just continue to (forcefully too) close. Not sure if it was just that car had that problem.
I took one apart, it charge SLOW compared to Tesla. And the build quality is a lot lower. And minor accident it can cause it to total loss. Because battery stops working when airbag deploys.
You know what all those electric cars need wireless charging plate install either in back or front of the car so that is easy to charge them , simply go in garage chose parking spot and take ticket on wall next to you there would be wireless charger with cash or contactless payment option ,or even better on the street on parking meters that select where is your car parked and pay for charging , but future is definitely not either in battery or fuel cells but smartly utilizing both technologies and always investing and improving new things.

I have a Model S from 2013, and for voice commands I have to press a button on the steering wheel before the car listens for commands. I much prefer this method to just a key phrase, because it's deliberate, and I don't have to worry about what I'm saying before getting interrupted by the car.
You can do various things, starting with locking and unlocking the car. If you think your forgot to lock you can lock the car even when you are far away from car by app. You can control temperature including heating seats, turning on ac- prior to jump in car, you can control lightning system, check tire pressure, you can check and control windows and sunroof by the app. You can check your car battery percentage and kms left. Moreover you can keep track of your car services and total kms done. Hope this helps.
Yeah be careful saying "BYD" in the car, like saying "Mercedes" in a Mercedes. :) Didn't know about the dance party with the interior ambient lights to the music. See Atto 3 where I live in Australia daily pretty much, plus it can tow(750kg) and take a roofbox(50kg). Have you checked out the Dolphin or Seal, depending if BYD have got them in your market yet or not. Interesting they don't offer heated seats for you, I suspect it's in the seat they haven't enabled it in software for you though as there is heated seats in the Australian market. Did you see the Dragon face in the front of the car? There is a button on the steering wheel that rotates the screen as well, did you find it? :) That range you give isn't WLTP though as WLTP is 420km on extended range, unlikely you hit 480 or 420km though in real world driving more like 350-400km. The EV cars from China are like Japanese cars 40yrs ago when Toyota first entered the markets outside of Japan but better than cars of 40yrs ago thanks to improvements in safety and passenger comfort. Month of May in Australia was best sales month so far almost 1500 Atto 3's sold/delivered, think YTD deliveries are over 4000 and number 2 only to the Tesla Model Y for EV sales.

most people who buy cars nowadays, especially in this price range do not keep them more than 10 years.. so whether its the way forward or not, its too soon to say. some of the main benefits is.. your petrol bill can drop as much as 70%, maintenance is also very low.. the cars have hundreds less moving parts so less problems to crop up.. they are also vibration free, quiet and very comfortable to drive.
@@Glee73 Wow 70% is quite impressive indeed. For me that would be a saving of about 1.5k a year. But for those who keep their cars about 7-9 years or so that’d be a savings of about 10-15k. Given that the future major maintenance costing (battery etc) 10+ years down the road would lead to additionally higher depreciation rates than ICE cars, wouldn’t this kinda make it less worth it for this group of buyers who sell cars (just after loan payments are near over)? Since they would suffer the bulk of the depreciation that is. The petrol savings could be decent, but it’s quite a gamble to see if the extra depreciation rates would wipe out those savings. Personally I’d rather wait for more data and a more established infrastructure before jumping in. Cars are an expensive purchase after all. Also, I don’t think there’s much to be gained by being an early adopter of the EVs. Right? Unless our govt offers more incentives given the recent Elon buzz hahaha. Yea, I’ve heard of the cost savings on regular maintenance. This one seems a lil harder to factor in. Just my shower time thoughts on the matter. But yea, too much uncertainty. BYD's voice command response speed is very fast, you can try to issue continuous commands at a very fast speed, and you will find it very interesting.
...and you can also disable automatic recognition of voice command changing it to have voice commands after pressing the button on the steering wheel.

I believe the middle class should reconsider before buying. The rich have lotta money to throw away so it’s fine.
most people who buy cars nowadays, especially in this price range do not keep them more than 10 years.. so whether its the way forward or not, its too soon to say. some of the main benefits is.. your petrol bill can drop as much as 70%, maintenance is also very low.. the cars have hundreds less moving parts so less problems to crop up.. they are also vibration free, quiet and very comfortable to drive.
@@Glee73 Wow 70% is quite impressive indeed. For me that would be a saving of about 1.5k a year. But for those who keep their cars about 7-9 years or so that’d be a savings of about 10-15k.
Given that the future major maintenance costing (battery etc) 10+ years down the road would lead to additionally higher depreciation rates than ICE cars, wouldn’t this kinda make it less worth it for this group of buyers who sell cars (just after loan payments are near over)? Since they would suffer the bulk of the depreciation that is.
The petrol savings could be decent, but it’s quite a gamble to see if the extra depreciation rates would wipe out those savings. Personally I’d rather wait for more data and a more established infrastructure before jumping in. Cars are an expensive purchase after all. Also, I don’t think there’s much to be gained by being an early adopter of the EVs. Right? Unless our govt offers more incentives given the recent Elon buzz hahaha.
Yea, I’ve heard of the cost savings on regular maintenance. This one seems a lil harder to factor in.
Just my shower time thoughts on the matter. But yea, too much uncertainty. Guess we’ll just have to see how it all unfolds.
