  • Welcome back to the shop, friends! Today, we are building a storage cabinet for both my Dewalt and skillsaw circular saws. I'm also including hidden storage for my extra saw blades. If you are interested in French cleats, I have a comprehensive playlist on my channel. The playlist includes a tour, hand plane till, locking cleats, mistakes I made and much more!

I'm excited about today's upload! This video was purposely edited a little upbeat and fast paced. Let me know if you like it!

Thank you, the blade storage adds mass and solves the problem of the fixture being lighter than the tool or catching when lifting it off a high cleat.

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

I chuckle to myself every time I hear the phrase "pre-drill"....reminds me of Roy Underhill, having arguments with old timey woodworkers that you can only do one of these; drill or not drill. "Pre-drill" is the moment in time just prior to the operation of drilling :)

Good point! Common phrases we say without thinking make no sense when you think about it!😂

I do appreciate that you showed your errors and then how to fix them, as we all make mistakes. But this build, IMO, was a bit overkill and maybe the complexity caused some of the errors. You do have a nice shop and some impressive builds, but just to overbuilt for my needs. Good luck.

Such complex cuts for a shop tool holder. To save time I made mine with butt jounts to save time and get on to other projects.

You should have used your block plane to bring your top down flush instead of cutting with the saw but you did a nice save.

Wasn't the top ply? The glue would have been rough on the knife.

Plywood is tough to hand plane but it will work! Tears out easily on the edges too!

Where did you get the saw blade dust collector for your Dewalt table saw

Enjoyed the build. Planning to replace my pegboard walls with French cleats. Been admiring the dust pickup on top of the table saw. Can it be bought for other table saws ?

It was included with my saw! I just bought an adapter to fit my hose. I think it’s proprietary to dewalt but not sure!

I prefer a slower paced tutorial with more in depth explanations and how too’s. Most of all the ones in the past were delivered at a pace more suitable to my skill level with clearer explanations for each measurement t/cut etc. but nevertheless it was a nice shop project here.

Holder is much bigger than the saws themselves. Not best use of space.

Nice build but don't it take up a lot of space on your cleat wall. lol more like a wardrobe

Interesting idea, but it looks really ugly. The boards does not fit in the bottom and there are other mistakes you made which look not good. Sorry. Keep going and the canche will increase that you will do good woodworking projects.
