I bought mine in August 2022 as a commuter bike, and it's a blast to ride. Since my commute is only about 13 miles round trip, I can ride a whole week before having to charge. It's perfect for that. But, you have to buy the right tool for the right task. It's not for day trips or any sort of long distance riding.
are u in the USA? if yes how has bmw been for any warranty issues?? any comments on the pros/cons or anything in general??? going to go test ride a 2023 the dealer has discounted???? 🤠
To all who complaine about the price: This is not a Kymco or chinese 125cc Scooter. It is a motorcycle with 3 disc-brakes and real ABS, 62Nm engine torque (similar to 650cc ICE), 160mm wide rear tire, reverse gear, keyless go, cooled phone charging bay, phone-pairing to show Sat-Nav in the driver display. It is built in Germany by a great etablished Motorcycle-make, not a small startup that easily dissappear (like "Kumpan"). And last not least, since the end of the Isetta-bubble-car, BMW never was about to provide cheap basic mobility. Currently (Sept.'2023) the CE 04 even is the one and only electric scooter beyond "125cc" class.
Had never heard of the CE04 until this Tuesday when I saw one in Beaulieu motor museum, then Thursday I saw one in the BMW/Honda dealership here and now Saturday when you uploaded this video...
Thanks for testing this! I am intrigued by the BMW CE vehicles. Their C Evolution was pretty ugly, but these new designs are growing on me. The CE04 is a little large and has small range, but I live in the city - might be okay.
@@LifeofSmokey I have been watching the unveiling videos of the CE02 for the past few months. It looks promising and very usable in the U.S. where our city speeds typically go 25, 35 and 45 mph. Unlike the Vespa Electtrica, which has a pathetic, useless top speed of 30mph.
Never in the history of BMW has a new model been greeted with such overwhelming indifference. If you must buy one, buy used, the depreciation will be epic.
@@LifeofSmokeyI took one for a short ride last week. I think it's priced at R256K here in South Africa, which sounds crazy but that's half the price of a Honda CBR1000RR!
Hi. Cheers from ROmania. I think is very smart built, 128 km/h =basically max speed limit on high way. Not bad but is sad they have not reached a decent autonomy.
Wish this thing had 200km range. My commute is 142km and this is just not enough. Hopefully in the near future with improvements in energy density, these scooters will have 150km+ range soon.
even if the range was 200km, during the winter it wouldn't be enough for your commute or you'd be playing Russian roulette whether you're going to make it home or call a tow truck every day 😂
Namaste (in Indian accent) , 1) What is the voltage it works on? And what is the actual voltage of the battery? Does it invert it into AC, or uses the DC directly? 2) So. At 128 kilometres per hour, the backup range was showing 48 kilometers. Which means if you go at that speed, you will have to charge the bike at every 25 minutes for 4 hours to fully charge. 🤔🥺😐
I truly believe that Smokey rides this scooter the same way he would with his sports bikes, you will never get a decent range like that. that's a disservice to the review. Most people get more, not because they drive like a grandma but because they ride it like it is supposed to be in a normal commute. which you definitely did not.
Yes, the scooter is nice. It handles well as we can see by watching here in this video but the autonomy and range of this electric engines is a limitation and a deal breaker! ✌️✌️
@@automachinehead Welding at a shipyard , Traveling very light as all equipment is on site. I won't rent a motel and be a stranger in my own residence. my family obligations demand I travel. a number of factors.
Funny video, as ever. I wonder if manufacturers will stop petrol engine motorbikes? That will be a bad day for bikers who like us, like the sound of fast engines.
very heavy bike, very long bike, so i would be scared for scraping the belly over these bumps, strange geometry of steering, unstable, have to push the bike in the corners under myself and really use handlebars, you cant ride this bike just with weight shifting, plus for me is design and torque
You wouldn't stand a chance against a Burgman 650 if the rider chose to max out the throttle. I had a 2003 650, and "in testing" I once had it up to an indicated 118MPH, which, taking into account the Burgman's known 10% over-indication, is about 106MPH or 170km/h.

Owned mine for a year. Charges fast even at 6A at 240V. A lot of fun and unique!

Agree...I want one,and an 11kw ce02

THANKS for the laugh this morning, wish all reviews were like this!! you got me excited enough to go test ride one.... 🤠
A fine review indeed. What with reciting the showroom leaflet - all everyone else is doing - find the thing's limits and report. Perfect.
Uncle Smokey is way to funny and I love it!
That was hilarious! Though a Starbucks stop seems like it would have been mandatory. Good job on the sound effects!
Starbucks is 40km away from my house and on the highway , I wouldn't make it back on one battery charge 😅
Hey smokey that was a 650 burgman you were racing against. You can tell by the low mirrors. Brilliant shows.
Haha no idea! Thanks for the info 😁👌
Oh yes, the "Big Burg". Also have had one, great fun too.
It has the same engine torque (62Nm) like the CE 04, but weights 40kg more...
Loved it. Thats pretty much how I would have treated it on a test ride😎 Loved the race with the Burg!
Vegas in! Cooling off here! What a futuristic odd looking ride, smokey! $11,800. 42 HP.

The 78 km range says it all. Cute toy lacking the range to be desirable, especially at that price. Thanks for another fun review though!
The price is the big downside. Better to get a bicycle for your city commute, at least you get the health benefits.
It "can" do 130 😅😅😅

That's not a commute. It's a day trip.
Like it but the price they should include a plug and play range extender battery that fits in the “glove box”
We want more CT125. Where’s that exhaust?!?
Was this shot in Belgium? Where was that long unpaved road? So difficult to find such locations in East Flanders.
Everywhere in the Kempen are these kinds of roads 😁

37000 km percorsi ❤❤❤❤❤❤

no thank you hahahaah, would rather have a v-max if i go grandpamode
If only it could wheelie I would consider it.
Maybe one less espresso before filming?
range ruins the bike for me. i need to go 200 miles per day minimum.
what kind of work do you do to travel that long per day?

Drivers license required?
They have car license one , and a fast motorcycle license one 😌

No Europe is not pushing the electric nonsense on motorcycles. Motorcycles can solve the traffic issues and lower emissions 😁

but the price ?? jeez
When you consider that a Trek Fuel EXe 9.9 XX AXS T-Type costs $14000, the price of the CE-04 doesn't seem unreasonable.

Nah, no place for EVs in bikes and sports. Leave it for delivery trucks and scooters
