    Superb video, and just what a newbie to Graupner (moi) needed to setup his GR-18 RX for Heli application... Much appreciated with many thanks, we’ll done.

    Expo in the receiver keeps stick resolution constant over the whole stick deflection. Expo in the transmitter reduces stick resolution around center stick and increases stick resoltion at maximum deflection. So in theory receiver expo would be prefered.
    You say some prefer a little negative pitch at stick center, what is the reason for that?

    • @yufasa

      Thank you for that. I will update the video accordingly

      Oh and the slight negative is for when you go into idle up it helps with landing if you don’t autorotate. That is why I said you can set that up elsewhere. I should have left that out and will edit video accordingly

    Hi, I have an MZ-16 and want to configure a Trex 500 Flybar. Can I fit an Align GP780 gyro or Falcon 12 receiver? How do I configure this radio?

    I have centered the servo's in the telemetry settings of the GR-18.
    But when I mount the servo arms, it is not possible to get the arms at a 90 degrees angle.
    How can I get the servo arms at 90 degrees, do I have to use the Nick trim, and Roll trim settings in the telemetry settings from the GR-18 to do that ?
    I do not think I can use the trim settings on the Transmitter to do that, is that correct ?

  • @r7_guy941
    @r7_guy941 3 года назад

    I noticed that you cannot individually center out the servo arms @90 degrees (servo1 + servo2 the 2 front servo's) using the swp roll/aileron trim in the telemetrie menu. If you want to trim out the servo's 1 and 2, with the swp roll/aileron trim option, both servo's move in opposite direction. The servo 3 can be trimmed out @90 degrees individually using the Swp Nick trim option.
    Do you have the same experience ?

    Good Day,
    I have bought a Thunder Tiger Raptor E300MD heli in May. Last month I bought a Graupner MZ-24 PRO Radio from Graupner USA which included a Falcon 12 Flight Controller on promotion. The past three weeks have been having problems with swashplate directions.
    I spent some time changing servo wiring on Falcon 12. The only wiring that is correct is as follows:
    With pins facing you Port 1 =Aileron Right, Port 2 =Aileron Left, Port 3 =Elevator and Port 4 =Tail
    The Collective/Pitch is 100%, moves up and down.
    I have NOT yet installed the Rotor Blades until I have the swashplate is working 100%. I have the exact same Falcon 12 Flight Controller as you, but is installed in front with the servo cables facing the shaft. Can't have the Antenna touch any metal parts. Graupner USA has told me to use 1 SERVO NOR and change CH1 to REV. They say all Flybarless helis MUST use 1SERVO NOR.
    In the Radio, I have created a new model with following settings:
    Model Type: Helicopter
    Swash Plate Type: 1 SERVO NOR
    In Servo/Sub Trim, CH1 is REV
    Pitch and Throttle Curves are LINEAR
    Allocated switch S6 for Throttle Hold, works 100% (for Emergency & Safety).
    With above settings, the following Swashplate directions are:
    Throttle/Pitch when left stick move up, swashplate goes down & Blade Holder gives +pitch (100%)
    Throttle/Pitch when left stick move down, swashplate goes up & Blade Holder gives -pitch (100%)
    Aileron(Roll) moves as Nick(Elevator)
    Elevator(Nick) moves as Aileron(Roll)
    Am struggling to swap these around.
    Rudder when move Right, pitch changes
    Rudder when move Left, pitch centers (0 Degrees) no change
    I upgraded the Falcon 12 from version 2.00 to 2.05. With the above settings, this is the best I can get. Just the Aileron and Elevator settings need to be swapped around.
    I am sure there must be some changes to be made in the Falcon 12 settings to fix the Aileron/Elevator to be swapped around. If so, please can you let me know. Been looking on internet and see they mention you need to change swashplate mixing, which is done in FBL unit. I need to find this setting.
    Below is the Falcon 12 version 2.05 settings. I only changed the Model type from Plane to Heli and the PERIOD from 20ms to 10ms.

      I just this weekend installed a Falcon 12 in a new Goblin 380 and ran into a similar issue. In my case the Swashplate is turned around by 180 degrees compared to the Align 450 the video was made on. In this case I had to play with the setting of "Swp dir" under Base setup. I found that changing the value to 1 and then swapping servo direction on pitch worked for me but you may have to play with that setting and with directions to get your Swashplate to work as you expect. Try it and let me know

      I was thinking about making an updated video as I have learned a lot since I made the original like the Swashplate setup and some expo settings that will help others.

      Thank you. I was actually thinking of updating this video as I have now flown six different helicopters on the various heli controllers/receivers. If you have any suggestions I will try and incorporate them.

    Hi,
    Thanks for reply. I tried your technique by changing the setting of "Swp dir" under Base setup. I changed the value to 1 and swapping servo direction on pitch did NOT work. It did fix the issue with Aileron/Elevator.
    I even changed the Swp dir all the way to 6, the swashplate does NOT work 100%. So I deleted the model and created a new model, I used 1SERVO NOR as the 3S 120(Roll) is NOT good at all.
    Under Base setup I changed Swp dir to 1. In the REV/SUB I have CH1=NOR, CH2=REV and CH3=NOR. In the servo graph(Bars), when I push Collect/Pitch up, CH1 and CH3 move up at same time and CH2 goes down. This makes Swp go up level which is incorrect as the Blade holder gives Negative pitch.
    When I move Elevator up, CH1 goes down, CH2 and CH3 goes up at same time. CH3 bar is bigger than CH2.
    When I move Aileron Right, ONLY CH1 and CH2 bars move up at same time. When I move Left, both CH1 and CH2 move down at same time. When I check the swashplate, the Aileron Rolls, but the Push rods are NOT moving in right direction. In other words, when I roll right, the Right push rod goes up and Left rod goes down. This is incorrect.
    I tried changing the Swp dir, but every time I do so, the SWP does NOT work 100%. This is getting very frustrating.
    So in REV/SUB.TR, I put CH1=REV, CH2=NOR and CH3=NOR. Swp dir back to 0. When I push Collective/Pitch up, this makes Swp move down level with Blade holder giving +pitch which is correct 100%. BUT this goes back to square one, meaning when I push up Elevator, the Swp moves as Aileron(Roll). When I move Aileron, Swp moves as Elevator. Colletive/Pitch is the ONLY correct movement.
    Looking at servo bars, CH1 goes down when push collective up and when pull down, CH1 goes up. This is correct. When I push Elevator up, CH3 bar goes up and when pull back CH3 bar goes down. But this makes SWP move as Aileron. When I push Aileron Right, CH2 bar goes down and when push Left, CH2 bar goes up. But this makes SWP move as Elevator.
    If I change just CH2=REV and leave CH1=REV, SWP still is NOT correct, but Pitch is 100%. The same if ALL Ch1, CH2 and CH3 are REV. So I just need to find a setting that will fix the Aileron/Elevator issue out. If I can get this Right, the I will look at the Tail.
    I went back into Swp dir and change to +1, Pitch acts as Roll. When I push Elevator up, Elevator works, BUT SWP TILTS BACK and if Back, SWP TILTS FORWAR. When I push Aileron, SWP moves as Pitch with slight roll. So changing the Swp dir to this +1 DOES NOT work. I know there is some setting in the Falcon 12 that MUST be chaged, don't know what. I am losing my head with this. I will ask Graupner USA to see if they can setup a Raptor E300MD with MZ-24 PRO Radio, and get them to send me th CORRECT settings BOTH in Radio and Falcon 12. I know they have NOT done this. All they is that I MUST change CH1 to REV. Changing the Swp dir will NOT solve this, as I even changed all the ay to +6. I have to get this Heli SWP working 100%. Hope you can help me FIX this SWP please. I want to do my first Hover test soon.

      I know this can be frustrating so lets try and figure it out. First need to confirm that you have a 120 degree swash plate (three servos) and it is oriented with 1 servo up front (elevator) and two in the back (roll/ailerons). You plugged the left roll/aileron servo into channel 1 and the right roll servo into channel 2 with the elevator/nick servo going into channel 3. Rudder is in channel 4 and motor in channel 6 but it does not affect this configuration.
      Now change the swp dir setting to a point where the swash plate moves up and down when you move the throttle/pitch control. Direction does not matter as we can change that in the Base Menu->Servo Set menu by reversing direction of channel 1 (Pitch).
      Once that is fixed you can check roll and nick directions and reverse them as needed in that same menu.
      Let me know how that works out for you

      @@yufasa Hi, yes I have a 120 degree swash plate. It is oriented with 2 servos in front (ailerons/Roll) and 1 at back (Elevator/Nick). With nose facing you, I have left aileron plugged into channel 1 and right aileron into channel 2 with Elevator/nick going into channel 3. Rudder is in channel 4 and motor is in channel 6. Tomorrow morning I will play with swp dir settings from 0 to 6 to get the swash plate to move up and down when I move the throttle/pitch stick. Remember my swash plate has 2 ailerons in front with elevator at back near shaft as mentioned above. The heli I have is a Thunder Tiger E300MD. I will do this Slow step by step to follow your instructions to get this swash plate working 100% before I can move on. This MZ-24 PRO Radio is damn awesome. OH yes, I did upgrade the Firmware of the Falcon 12 from ver 2.00 to 2.05 which I mentioned in earlier chats. This should not affect the swash plate. I did this ugrade last week. When I play with the settings of swp dir tomorrow, will let you know of the outcome. I appreciate your assistance very much. Just want to win this SWP issue soon. I still got nNO news from Graupner USA. I did send them pic of Falcon 12 installation which they asked for.

      @@yufasa Hi, I have played around with swp dir. When I changed the values, the swp moves. I found that at +4, the swp is super level. So i left it at that value. The Throttle/Pitch moves up and down 100% and had to change CH1 in Radio to REV, as swp MUST move down to give Positive pitch. The only problem is the Aileron/Elevator. When I move Aileron, it acts as Elevator and when I move Elevator, it acts as Aileron. I have looked to see where to fix this, but don't no where. Am sure it is in the Falcon 12, but will have to look in the Radio as well.
      After struggling for hours, I decided to Reset the Falcon 12 back to Factory settings and start from scratch again. Tomorrow morning, will Rebing Falcon 12 I will start with Swp dir from 0 and change the values till +4. While changing, will see if the SWP moves after each change. It never did this before. Could you assist me in how to switch Aileron and Elevator around? Is there some setting in the Falcon 12 or is it in the Radio? It is just the Aileron/Elevator issue before I can go further.

  • @waynegetkate9315

    Hi,
    I have very GOOD news, I fixed the Aileron/Elevator issues out. I was playing around in the Radio, and in the Base setup menu, I touched Out.Swp sub menu. In there I changed TX2 to 3 and TX3 to 2 and saved. Tested the swash plate directions, all working OK. But I had to REV CH2 and CH3.
    According to the manual on programming, it stated that Swash mixing will NOT be available if you have 1SERVO NOR. So I kept fighting and found a section in the Radio menu to play with.
    So my settings are now:
    Swp dir = +4
    Servo/Sub.Trim
    CH1=REV
    CH2=REV
    CH3=REV
    Out.Swp
    TX2= 3
    TX3=2
    Now all I must do is complete the other settings ie Do the Axes Assignment settings, Pitch Curve, Throttle Curve, check settings for Tail Rotor, Allocate switch S1 for flight modes. Last will do is install Rotor blades and make sure I have -+11 Degree pitch with my Digital Pitch gauge.
    Am feeling so much better now, but must check all is OK slowly. Biggest concern is my first Hover Test. Will keep you posted. Damn 3 weeks of frustration is now over

    • @yufasa
      @yufasa  5 лет назад

      That is weird as it basically means that you connected the elevator to channel 2 and that was the first thing we talked about? Elevator should be on channel 3.

    • @waynegetkate9315
      @waynegetkate9315 5 лет назад

      @@yufasa Yeah, I had my wiring correct all the time. Only had to change them while trying to sort out SWP issues. My wiring is the same as your wiring on Falcon 12. I even swapped around servo cable CH2 and CH3, but that did not work. Only this morning when I went into Out.Swp and changed TX2 to 3 and TX3 to 2 which worked, but noticed the servo had to be REV in BOTH CH2 and CH3 in servo menu. So now i have all CH1, CH2 and CH3 in REV and the Swp dir is at +4. Hell what a frustrating past 3 weeks of this crap. So am stoked to have fixed the issue with Aileron/Elevator. One of the local hobby shop said that with Mikado VBC, it is all Plug and Play. I told them haha what a joke. No helis are the same, you still have to fiddle with settings. Let me know when you have updated your videos and have new ones, would love to check it out. Keep up the good work and thanks for trying to assistme, appreciate it
