Long time LEC fan here and occasional LCS watcher: you guys are rocking the podcast game. Adding Meteos was such a win, and I feel like having meteos there with two former esports pros but casters now adds so much to it. I actually look forward to the dive now every week, something that wasn’t the case before. Congrats!
Agreed, much better than Euphoria imo. Drakos shouldn't be on the cast, he might be a good host and talker but he is a play by play caster, i probably know more about the game and how teams are playing than he is.
Thanks for the nice message:) After watching MSI this year, I started to notice how good the LEC casting is. Casters really get into the details of the each match, making engaging to watch. And the humour is great as well.
Meteos always makes this stuff better - he has insane game knowledge and, imo, is the top jungler NA has ever produced, and was in the scene for a long time and still is active and regarded in the scene. I'm glad they added him, too.
I think the segment with Lexical is my favorite segment of any League content in recent memory. It's so awesome to actually get to hear the thought process, motivation and decision making behind the design and initial balancing of a new champion. Lexical also explained the HELL out of it so kudos.
@@clusterrockets Yeah very true but this one is def a bit different than Phreak's. Phreaks is amazing and super informative but def more numbers and balance based than this segment. Both are dope tho
You could tell that she was trying really hard to not admit that they intentionally make champs op at the start so they will sell it, they can't have her come out and openly say it but we all know it's how it is.
Great episode. I just hate that we are going to a long break this early.....Keep inviting the people that work on the new champs, its so great to hear the background stories🤗
Really loved the convo with Lexical, you can truly hear how much love and care she and the devs have for these champs and that's really great to hear :)
When Kobe said the next release was going to be July 2nd, I checked the calendar, and was briefly excited by the idea that there was another Dive episode waiting for me when I finished this one.
Morde has been picked in most regions as a skarner counter. The reason its taken is, 1) favorable matchup post 1 item. 2) Shadow realm hard counters skarner ult and to some extent his E. You can ult the skarner as soon as he grabs a team mate to stop skarner from dragging ur ally out of place. 3) Mord brings AP damage to comps with AD jungle and mid.
About new champs "being OP" - What we really mean is that they are OP once a player gets a certain amount of champ mastery. But they usually are quite bad for a player who has 10 or fewer games. Maybe 20 or fewer games. And Phreak has talked to this point: He would rather sometimes you lose because an enemy player is really good at the champ than you losing because your teammate picks it and its too weak in the hands of a player learning the champ.
As long as that's their design philosophy, I'm going to keep banning the new champ, especially if I'm playing ranked. It's one thing to lose because you or your teammate gets outplayed, but it's no fun when you play well but still lose because the enemy has a champ with no weaknesses. You can always practice a new champ in bots/customs before terrorizing your opponents or teammates with it, it's not a good excuse to overtune it.
When they say that Aurora will appeal to the Ahri and Neko player base, I think for us top layers it will appeal to the Gnar players too with the three hit passive.
Viewer question of the day, why the fuck isn’t there a This or That? I’ve really beeen missing it and thought it was one of the most successful forms of content.
With Corki in particular, I feel as though a lot of the reason he rushes defensive boots is due to Jack of All Trades, With D-Blade + Defensive boots he immediately gains access to the first part of Jack of All Trades which gives him a nice, easily achievable item spike while also allowing him to sit safe in his lane. If jack of all trades doesn't exist, it would likely feel substantially worse for him to rush defensive boots over grabbing some early ad and boots 1 for instance.
I think we NEED a second round of series, I know that comes with a bunch of expensive issues especially for the broadcast. But in the name of competition, it would be so much better with a second round.
Hello friends and companions, now with the union of LCS+CBLOL next year, could you put subtitles in Portuguese on your specifics so that we Brazilians can follow you too.
That DIG series was jungle diff. Spica totally blew that gank bot. If he waited for adc to clear wave and then gank it woulda been a much better play. FLY had no clue that spica was there. He just had to exercise some patience. Its such a fundamental concept to never engage on a wave pushing into you. After that gank fails, they lose so many minions that its over
Lexical was awesome on the Dive!!! 1st off I love this Pcast... more special guests makes the show so thick with insight... I love love love it!!! Thank you guys and Lexical!!!
"Tristana has a very high winrate in soloQ, so they could just nerf her" >She has a 50% winrate, Azael. That's not high. Her winrate goes up to 51% in very high elo and that's it. Straight up nerfing her would make her unplayable in the botlane, where she's already not picked.
I dunno Xayah, Kaisa, Cait, Sett have a lot of female players and Seraphine, Nidalee, Akali, Sylas have a lot of male players, I think it's more kit design than AP or AD personally
As an autistic person I can say that for me that them making an autistic champion and the way that they talk about it is the most condescending shit I've ever heard, it sounded like an art critic talking about autism, it's not cute or cool, it's like being in a prison in your own mind...
Not autistic but I've always had the same thought. And its not just with this specific trait. Every time they try to force inclusiveness it comes off so fucking pretentious and condescending. They can easily incorporate several traits to champions and not explicitly label it as one trait, IMO that would be a lot more authentic, and I'm sure the player base with similar traits would appreciate and relate to it a lot more too. People are so complex. You don't go around making a single trait your whole personality. These inclusive characters more often than not are presented as if their whole persona revolves around having a specific trait.
@@thomasrushin2529 lol? What's so difficult about slapping labels on champions? "Oh let's make this champ autistic", "This champ is trans by the way" etc. That's not designing "well" that's just being lazy af about it. If they design something well they don't need to slap on the label in the first place. If they can't do that, at least stop with the fake labels with zero effort. Like with this champ for example: All their research on autism amounted to "yeah people on the spectrum need their space, that's why Aurora's ult is her slipping into this spirit realm" That's the best they could do with all their resources?
Isn't the simple answer for "adcs are too strong" to do it the Simpsons way? "We're flooded with Adcs!" "Bring in the Assassins." "We're flooded with Assassins!" "Bring in the Bruisers." Not a permanent fix but a fun rotating buffing one maybe, bring on the age of Assassins!
Easy fix to AD mids....make AP itemization better against tanks. The tanks are so good right now and they are so TANKY that it takes 2 adcs to chop them down. Also AP mages being in the jungle keeps them safer from assassin/adc picks played in mid.
The reason k sante is doing poorly is because of all the lane swapping shenanigans. Look at how several games this split he is still level 1 multiple minutes into the game. Any top lane champ would be useless in that scenario
23:07 remove resolve from 2nd tree, make control mage items better. Why would I want an ap mid when the ap jg and adc items are so much more effective. Trist and Corki being mid lanner is good for the game. What is bad is that nothing else is an option. What is bad for the game is that control msged are just so bad rn. Game is decided before you have effective damage. Why are Sorc shoes so bad?
I watch content with meteos in it primarily, but it’s tiring to hear this narrative that adcs are broken. Just get a mid lanner on and have them tell you how miserable it is to play a mage mid rn. Esp in soloq. Outside of Leblanc game is just over before you can do anything as a control mage. Why would I want an ap mid when the ap jungle items are infinitely better?
The public typically pushes back when games and movies incorporate characters with autism, but not in the league scene because more of the player base find it relatable
Why tf are they taking a month off mid split? They’ve only played like 10 games over 4 weeks lol. What a terrible waste of momentum from this splits new changes and b3st of 3s.
The 10 most recent champions have obnoxious/non-interactive/overpowered kits, have received many buffs and nerfs for over a year, or have such low playrate they don't even appear on stat tracking websites. But hey i guess the new champion they've been designing since 2017 is autistic and apparently the developers think this makes her more authentic for some reason... can't wait to never see this champ again after her few weeks of being broken in soloq
It's a character backstory. How much money do you think it cost them to write a little story about the character? It takes up basically none of their resources.
My man says they haven't even won a lane 😂
