    Links to most of the books are in the description box, and also on the website here (along with many other shortlisted books that didn't quite make it into the video): bit.ly/2019xmasbooks

    i like to imagine that you are a fantasical library, who has like a secret magic room where lots of supernatural wonder exists but only special children of great talent are allowed in

      Aw, isn't that everyone's best dream come true??? (I can neither confirm nor deny, but I wil say that when readers enter my house they gasp with joy and settle themselves down in front of one of the shelves for the long haul. Non-readers are more likely to ask pointed questions about structural load-bearing requirements of the floor and nervously eye the nearest exit in case they get sucked into Narnia by accident...) Don't worry, you'll be allowed in 😘

    Oh My Goodness!!! All the wonderful, magical, glorious books! I was lucky enough to get copies of Deeplight, The Binding and The Deathless Girls this year and I'm planning to get the special edition of A Court of Thorns and Roses, the newest illustrated Harry Potter and that winter edition of Little Women and the Mina Lima Alice book. Actually, I need Peter Pan in that series too. Santa ... are you listening?? Hello??? I do wish that a nice companion set of Louisa May Alcott's books would be published by someone. I'd like to have at least Little Men and a few others in nice hardcovers. The Folio books you've shown are amazing with Howl's Moving Castle and The Phantom of the Opera being my favourites. The children's books here will give me some great ideas for my godson's son as I am trying to build him a decent library ... though he's only 19 months old at the moment. If I have anything to do with it he'll be a book lover when he grows up!! Thank you for sharing this amazing video. It shows as a labour of love. Sending warmest best wishes for you and your family for the holidays. Hope that Santa will bring you lots of beautiful books for Christmas too!

      Oh, thanks so much for sharing your faves! I agree, a full set of beautiful editions of the Alcott books would be great - I'll keep my eye out 😉And it sounds like you will be the best "book aunt / book fairy-god-grand-mother?" ever! And thanks for the lovely kind words - this video took soooooo loooong (and I still had even more books I would have loved to show, but I thought maybe I was already going a bit overboard, ha 📚📚📚) xxx 😘

    My favorite of 2019 was A Game of Thrones from the Folio Society. Absolutely stunning, and I didn’t even regret spending $200 like I thought I would. Name of the wind 10 year anniversary was also beautifup

    • @BeautifulBooks
      @BeautifulBooks  4 года назад +3

      Yes, the FS Game of Thrones is really special - they definitely hit that out of the park 💕(although I think they are planning to release one a year in the series, so make sure you have some serious shelf space and wallet love ready if you're going to keep going!) I loved the Name of the Wind anniversary edition as well (I included that one in last year's video). I saw Doors of Stone preorders come up with a 2020 release date on Amazon a few months ago which was pretty exciting, but sadly it seemed to disappear pretty fast so my hopes were dashed...

    • @erichasenjaeger209
      @erichasenjaeger209 4 года назад +2

      Yes I am already be saving up for the whole series lol. Maybe by next year winds of winter will be released and then they can get around to A Dream of Spring when it comes out in 2025??? I’m too hopeful. :) But yes I also saw that release date for preorder actually fairly recently.... here’s to hoping!

      Thank you 😀 I've seen that book in the shops and agree the cover is just stunning! (this year has had some really amazing floral designs I think) the synopsis sounds cool - did you like it???

      @@BeautifulBooks It was a lovely read. I also purchased The Last Days of the Romanov Dancers based on its beautiful cover. I find it a great fun way to choose books I would not normally read. Your video has helped me select a few more :)

    The most beautiful book I bought this year was 'Fearless tales for fearless girls', I already love fairy tale collections/retellings focused on women and Khoa Le illustrations are lovely. Another similar book that was published a while ago but I only discovered this year is 'The Serpent Slayer And Other Stories of Strong Women' by Katrin Hyman Tchana and illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman.

    • @BeautifulBooks
      @BeautifulBooks  4 года назад +2

      maskedgeekgirl Yes, those Khoa Le illustrations are lovely! I adore Trina Schart Hyman’s illustrations and The Serpent Slayer is a stunning collection. Have you also seen Changing Woman and Her Sisters by the same artist/daughter combo? 💕😀

      @@BeautifulBooks I've bought Changing Woman, but haven't yet had the time to read it. Unfortunately I doubt I'll have the time for it in the near future as I'm moving. As I'm sure you're aware moving when you love collecting books is a massive pain.

      maskedgeekgirl oh yes, I’ve moved country a few times with my library and the book boxes are by far the heaviest and most painful of all! Best of luck with the move, and I hope you will be reunited with your books soon 📚📚📚😀

    this may be a really oddly specific question, but does the Alice in wonderland (folio) have this page from the limited edition with the words going down like some smoke? ruclips.net/video/eppspAPUogQ/видео.html

    • @BeautifulBooks
      @BeautifulBooks  4 года назад +1

      Yes, the Folio standard edition of the CVS Alice does have the same layout as the limited edition (one small difference - the page has two lines of text from the story at the top of the page not just one). (And that 'long tale' page is one I always check to see how creative the designers are 😉)
