All of those book are beautiful. I'm a big Laura Ingalls Wilder fan decades after my first book. I especially like the type face in these books. You can actually see them without straining your eyes.

My sister brought home one of the Little House novels. I read it and then, gradually checked out the enture series....60 uears ago.
I just finished the last book in the series, and now I'm watching the amazing TV show. What a gem! Incredible story. Love it.

Island looks like it has wonderful illustrations! I have the Walker Illustrated Classics edition of this which has amaaazing coloured woodcuts by John
Lawrence and it very beautiful, but it is also HUGE which makes it a little unwieldy to curl up with to read 😂
First time I hear about the Walker Illustrated Classics! Now I'm curious about it! ;)
Ha - not trying to suck you into another series just yet ;) They have some fantastic illustrators in the Walker Illustrated Classics series , but some of the books have abridged texts, so you have to be careful. (They are sensitive abridgements, but I usually prefer the complete text if I can find it.) The Treasure Island text is all there though - and I love John Lawrence woodcuts (he has done some lovely work for Folio Society too).

I believe the paper used in WE is very intentionally chosen. It gives the text and the illustrations a more stark black and white contrast than the usual paper and ink used in Folio books illustrated in black and white. This really fits with and illuminates the story. I think it's brilliant. I wrote a little about it on Goodreads after I finished it. Definitely one of the most enjoyable reads I have experienced this year.

That Folio Society Elizabeth Gaskell series is a set of five books, you are missing two. 'Ruth' which is by far the rarest of the five titles and is almost impossible to find and 'Sylvia's Lovers' which was comparatively common but I'm not sure what availability is like these days. The Folio Society did print a version of 'Cranford' but it is not part of the same set and looks completely different as it was produced about a decade earlier than the others. I managed to get them all but that was about 8 years ago and I actually got 'Mary Barton' direct from The Folio Society as stock clearance as they had stopped printing them but still had loads left in stock.
I want 'I am Legend' and 'The Princess Bride' so badly right now but I am short on cash and critically short on shelf space so I just have to enviously watch other people unboxing them :-(
Oh, I saw Ruth once on eBay, and now that you told me it is a bit rare to find it I regret not buying it... I thought Cranford was part of the same collection, but I just googled it and indeed the edition is completely different.
Btw, I hope more people unbox FS books on RUclips because after this haul I'm officially broke too lol.
I was hunting for that book for about 6 months and I bought the first copy that I found even though I had to import it from a book shop in Canada (I am in the UK) which was expensive. But you never know, you might get lucky. The edition of Cranford is very different and IMO not as nice as the ones in the set but it is still a very well printed and nice looking book, it is after all a Folio Society product. I thought it was worth getting as it is lovely and as it is an older title it tends to sell for less than the newer ones when it comes up for sale so it was quite a bargain. I hope you enjoy reading the books, North and South was my favourite but they are all great.
To have one of those books, only if I got one as gift. They are Super expensive.
They are.. 😔 I’ve been trying to find some secondhand copies, because they are much more affordable. Have you tried Etsy? I always order Folio secondhand books on Etsy when I visit the US. Great prices and the shipping is low ☺️
Definitely go for the secondhand route. You can buy many Folio Society books for reasonable prices on eBay.

Oi! Obrigada! Olha, uma edição de qualidade com todos os livros eu não conheço. Mas a edição da Puffin que tem aqui no canal é vendida avulsa também e é bem bonita. Vi esses dias na Amazon Br uma edição da Everyman’s Library que também é muito legal, mas essa não tenho ainda. Espero que encontre!

Sanchordia I’ve read it! Lol In the video I was reading the opening sentence of the book, in which the narrator is reading his favorite book to his son, and he tells him he never read it himself because his father used to read it to him :)
