Thank you so much for taking the time to put this beautiful list together, I always look forward to them. I can’t wait to pick up the illustrated great gatsby, my copy is way less glam. I think the Azeroth fairytale book would be a book my husband would actually be excited for that he could share with our daughter. Might be a Father’s Day pick for him! Thanks for including ☺️
Hey there! I did reply to you earlier, but it seems to have disappeared, so apologies if you get this twice. I just wanted to say it's a great year for finding a good copy of Gatsby, and fingers crossed the Azeroth Fairy Tales is a hit! 😃
As usual, you have given me some wonderful things to look forward to spending away some serious cash. Thank you! Also, thank you for the B&N editions listing. I love their special editions, as well as Flame Tree publishing. One more edition I love is the Calla editions, put out by Dover publications. I think the price points on all these editions are amazing, making it easier for anyone who wishes to collect these wonderful works of literature. Beautiful books on my shelves is a joy to behold!

An absolutely lovely roundup as always! I can’t wait for so many of these. Those new Kristin Cashore covers are gorgeous - I may have to spring for new editions when I get the new book.
Slightly off-topic, and my apologies if this is on your website and I’ve missed it, but do you have any recommendations for a pretty hardcover Austen set that includes all of her books? So many times only 4 of them will be made in an overall classics collection. Penguin clothbound is the only one that springs to mind, but I’d love some other options. Thanks so much!
Yes, those new Cashore covers are SO pretty. And great question on the Austen set - given her popularity it is ridiculously difficult to find a nice set of all her books. Folio Society have done some nice clothbound illustrated editions that you might like to look at (old and new versions, quite different treatments). And vintage-wise, if you like a hunt, I’m quite partial to a set with pretty patterned covers that was put out by Pantheon in the 1950s. Hardback sets in print at the moment include a Word Cloud Classics set (pretty pastels), Arcturus have one too, and there is a classic looking Macmillan Collector’s edition set. All very nice, but not really a “wow” factor - Juniper Books do some delightful dust jackets that go over these series though that are pretty creative and well worth looking at if you want something with serious shelf appeal! In contrast, there are some lovely paperback sets - the Vintage Classics set is delightful, and the annotated editions by David Shapard have excellent content. I have high hopes of Chiltern eventually bringing them all out (their whole design ethos was inspired by a vintage edition of P&P), but they currently only have the usual suspects, and the remainder don’t seem to be on their immediate publication lineup, grrr... If you’d like isbns / links / more details on any of these, let me know!

Hello Daisy. OH OH!!!! Here we go again. I wanted to let you know that following the release of your "Beautiful Books of 2020" wrap up I hustled right onto the computer and ordered all of the Owen Davey books (Obsessive About Octopuses etc) and also I Ate Sunshine For Breakfast as gifts for my god-son's son Finn for Christmas and I'm happy to report that they were all a smashing success ... and Finn likes them too!! Finn's birthday is in March so I'll be referencing this video for more books to gift him. And of course there are many, many (many) titles here that I'm hoping to add to my own shelves .... somewhere, somehow. The MinaLima books are special favourites, Joanne M. Harris's Honeycomb will be added to the other three that I picked up in 2020. So pretty. Many of the fantasy titles appeal to me and also some in the general fiction section. Gonna have to start digging underground to extend my library to make room for all these pretties. Oh, and I am in love with those classic titles illustrated by Marjolein Bastin and hope to get them too. They're gorgeous!!! Thank you as always for doing this. Just curious, what are your thoughts on the Tiffany Aching books and the Amazing Maurice getting covers to match the Hardback Library Collectors’ editions?
I have quite a few of the Hardback Library Collectors' Editions - I think the covers are great. I bought the ones I have when the prices were a lot lower though - they've been edging up over the years which makes them less affordable I think. I didn't know they were bringing these out until you mentioned it, so thanks! (Mind you, I will always have a soft spot for my battered paperbacks with the Josh Kirby covers 💕)
Hi, just stumbled upon your channel, and since you appear to be all about pretty books, I thought I'd point some out to you. German publishing house Nikol puts out classics in cloth hardcover with gold embossment(?). I'm not sure what the right word is in English. In any case, those books are really pretty and surprisingly cheap, though, obviously, only available in German, as far as I know. Maybe look those up some time, there are a couple dozen of them at this point.

You might be interested to know Garth Nix has a couple of books coming out this year including special editions for the 25th anniversary of Sabriel and a whole new book in the Old Kingdom/Abhorsen series, I believe that one is called Tercel and Elinor. Love your channel by the way. I found it recently and I’ve binging all your videos.
Thanks so much for the lovely comment! I love the Old Kingdom series 💕 I do have a preorder in for one of the 25th anniversary editions of Sabriel (but there are at least *three* different ones to choose from! Ahhh.... Are you going to get one?). And I can't wait for the prequel!
@@BeautifulBooks I am also a fan of the series and have been so since I found the books at my local library as a teen. I will definitely be getting one of the 25th anniversary hardcover editions. I think the Australian one might be the most beautiful one so I think I will that one through Book Depository. I love the original cover art by the Dillons, but I already have the original paperback trilogy with that art, and I think all that the US version is doing is putting it on a hardcover. Honestly if they were doing more with it, I would get both, lol. Still, I’m excited that they are doing them.

Apparently it contains Garth's notebooks and a bit of extra info about the charter, as well as a few other things from various earlier publications, but also a letter from Garth at the back talking about the process of writing Sabriel which is new 😀

Do Barnes and Nobles publish new books under their collectible editions every year? Most of the books I see were published several years ago. Not sure if they release new ones each year

Yes, they do publish new books every year, I have a collector’s guide on my website which includes a complete list of all the B&N collectible editions and I update it every month or so with upcoming preorders as I hear about them (I’ll add the link below). You do have to be careful, because sometimes they re-release the same book with a different cover, so I cover all that in the list so you don’t accidentally get a duplicate. I wanted the War and Peace from that collection but heard a lot of negative reviews. (too small a print, very thin paper etc. Some even said that it's abridged or part of a set and doesn't have the full story. I'm not really sure if it's true)
@@KakashiHatake-ou7mp sorry I didn't see your comment here earlier. Did you end up getting War and Peace? I agree that the print is very small and the paper is very thin for this edition, but it is a long book so that will be hard to avoid in any single volume edition.

There is actually a 3 book edition of War and Peace by Everyman Library. That looks promising. I've purchased many Everyman library so far and they are excellent
