I was delighted when I saw you have a new video. I ended up preordering the US Sabriel 25th anniversary edition because I love that artwork so much, but I may yet also get a copy of the Australian edition if they are still available. I have an exclusive book club edition of Addie LaRue, which I read earlier this year, but I already preordered the UK one, lol. It will likely become one of my favorite books, so I think it's ok to have a few copies. I also have a preorder of Empire of the Vampire through a book club and it comes with an exclusive cover, so I'm not surprised to learn that there are many other book clubs doing the same thing. I also have a preorder of the white LOTR with Tolkien's illustrations. The black one looks gorgeous, but it's a bit much for my wallet. I loved this video, as always. Thanks for sharing all this info. I'm off to review the post on your website because apparently I still don't have enough preorders, lol.

I forgot to mention, the Russian Tales by Chronicle Books caught my eye, and when I looked at the illustrator's name I realized it was familiar. I just bought a High Note weekly planner with the similarly gorgeous decorative patterns/designs and they are by the same artist. I looked at the other books in the series and they look wonderful. I love how they seem to find illustrators with a related cultural heritage/aesthetic to do each collection of stories. I'm really excited to see you plan to do a look at the series eventually!
Yes, I have all the books in this series, they’re lovely. And I also have all of Dinara’s gorgeous cut-paper fairy tales, so for me it’s a fantastic match! (I should do videos on both actually- always so many videos I want to make and never enough hours, sigh…)
Thank you letting us know about the Sabriel editions! I can’t believe it’s the 25th anniversary already. It’s going to be tough choosing the edition for that one. I’m also really loving this trend of sprayed edges.

Hi - thanks for the suggestion! I have seen these books and they have fun, colorful covers and an interesting selection of titles 😃 However, they are glue bound, not sewn, and because they are all really large volumes - typically between 600-700 pages - tbh I am concerned that they won't really stand up to reading without risk of cracking and page loss. Would love to hear from someone who has had them for a while (although it's still a pretty new series) to hear their experiences.
The Harry Potter MinaLima!!! Also the new Wordsworth Collector's Editions. I was quite proud that I only had 3 left to buy in that collection-now that number has tripled! Oh dear.

The Marjolein Bastin books are so beautiful. Jessie Burton's Medusa looks fab. I'm also interested in the fairy tale books you mentioned. And you didn't mention it here, but Alix E Harrow's novella, A Spindle Splintered, has a gorgeous red and blue cover that I love.

Always a joy to watch your videos. I am excited for the Lord of the Rings latest editions though they are too expensive for me. I am also looking forward to MinaLima's the Wizard of Oz as it is one of my favourite children's books. I am starting to dive into the Discworld universe so it is good to see more books added to the collector's edition series. They are all so pretty. I wonder if you have the Tiffany Aching set in black.
@@BeautifulBooks Oooh, even more Chilterns?! I have (temporarily) limited myself by only collecting the Jane Austen titles for now. Of course there is a lot of those, and I only have Mansfield Park left to get LOL. Some of them were part of the buy 1 get 1 half off deal Amazon had for Prime Day, and I couldn't resist, lol.
@@priscilla.t.a I also managed to get all of mine in half off sales - it made them excellent value because they really are so well made! The Austens in this series are delightful - so reminiscent of the original Victorian designs. I’m also super happy since they also just announced they are bringing out Good Wives later this year too, because the Little Women design is one of my favorites in this series!

I did a lot of reading during the pandemic and thought I should re-read Age of Innocence again to make sure it's still my favorite classic. Even though I have two paperback versions, I thought it's time for a nice copy. Unfortunately neither Penguin Clothbound nor B&N flexi have it, and when I found the Chiltern collection, I thought this would be so perfect for the story, - but also not available, so I added the Word Cloud edition to my Christmas List (for last year) ... and so the collection grows! and thank you for your website, its such a great resource!

Barnes and Noble have a collection of hardcovers listed as Deluxe Library Binding (Published by Engage books) They look very good and have portrait like cover design. Have you seen any of those? There is no information or video on them that I could find. Would be great if you can cover this collection one day!!
Hi there! No, I haven’t seen any of the Engage deluxe library binding volumes yet. Library bindings are typically books that are specially bound for durability so they can withstand the rigors of being read many times by library patrons, so I would expect they would be sewn bindings and easy to open flat (for photocopying), and sometimes library binding covers are coated as well (rather than relying on dust jackets). The cover designs look lovely! But I’d be wary of the huge omnibus editions - similar to the B&N collection, when they start binding up multiple books together and the page counts get near 500 or more, you typically end up with very thin paper, tiny print, and an unwieldy book that is hard to read. If I track one down I’ll take some pics for you - I’d like to know what the spine design is like!
@@BeautifulBooks Thanks for the detailed information! The covers look very good in the photos. But not sure how they are in real life. What really drew me to this series is the beautiful oil painting like covers! I can't recall any other collection having such nice art on them. You're completely right about the quality of print and paper for this heavy tomes though. Some books in this collection are heavy tomes. What really surprised me was the fact that there is almost no information about this series! They've gone to all this trouble to make these and haven't provided any advertisement!
My guess is that they are marketed to libraries rather than the general public, which is why it’s so difficult to find information on them. The added expense for durability would usually not make them attractive to a normal consumer who wouldn’t need that sort of protection, but I’d also love to see how those pretty covers look in real life.
@@BeautifulBooks Yeah that makes sense! I haven't really seen a lot of Library binding books. Their website is also down. Hope they'll return soon! Always good to have beautiful collections!! They also seem to have another leatherbound edition called Royal collectors edition. That's much simpler and considering the price, most likely is on par with the barnes and nobles collection in terms of quality
I backed the KS for the beehive books, so looking forward to them, and waiting for the minalima books, and the dune graphic novel. I am also (finally) getting around to buying fantastic beasts and where to find them. From this video will look at russian tales, and provensen book of fairy tales, the sister who ate her brothers and daughter of the deep sounds interesting also. Want to look at codex, the haunting and midnight of everwood and the every, low priority though.
Great selection - I think you get the Beehive books early with Kickstarter so you’ll have to let me know what you think when you get them! (Shipping to Oz is out of this world on their campaigns so I always wait for the trade editions.) The Codex is crazy (I have an earlier edition) - definitely take a look to decide if it’s your thing because it’s also rather huge!

The Marjolein Bastin books are so beautiful. Jessie Burton's Medusa looks fab. I'm also interested in the fairy tale books you mentioned. And you didn't mention it here, but Alix E Harrow's novella, A Spindle Splintered, has a gorgeous red and blue cover that I love.

Always a joy to watch your videos. I am excited for the Lord of the Rings latest editions though they are too expensive for me. I am also looking forward to MinaLima's the Wizard of Oz as it is one of my favourite children's books. I am starting to dive into the Discworld universe so it is good to see more books added to the collector's edition series. They are all so pretty. I wonder if you have the Tiffany Aching set in black.

@@BeautifulBooks Oooh, even more Chilterns?! I have (temporarily) limited myself by only collecting the Jane Austen titles for now. Of course there is a lot of those, and I only have Mansfield Park left to get LOL. Some of them were part of the buy 1 get 1 half off deal Amazon had for Prime Day, and I couldn't resist, lol.
@@priscilla.t.a I also managed to get all of mine in half off sales - it made them excellent value because they really are so well made! The Austens in this series are delightful - so reminiscent of the original Victorian designs. I’m also super happy since they also just announced they are bringing out Good Wives later this year too, because the Little Women design is one of my favorites in this series!

I did a lot of reading during the pandemic and thought I should re-read Age of Innocence again to make sure it's still my favorite classic. Even though I have two paperback versions, I thought it's time for a nice copy. Unfortunately neither Penguin Clothbound nor B&N flexi have it, and when I found the Chiltern collection, I thought this would be so perfect for the story, - but also not available, so I added the Word Cloud edition to my Christmas List (for last year) ... and so the collection grows! and thank you for your website, its such a great resource!

Barnes and Noble have a collection of hardcovers listed as Deluxe Library Binding (Published by Engage books) They look very good and have portrait like cover design. Have you seen any of those? There is no information or video on them that I could find. Would be great if you can cover this collection one day!!
Hi there! No, I haven’t seen any of the Engage deluxe library binding volumes yet. Library bindings are typically books that are specially bound for durability so they can withstand the rigors of being read many times by library patrons, so I would expect they would be sewn bindings and easy to open flat (for photocopying), and sometimes library binding covers are coated as well (rather than relying on dust jackets). The cover designs look lovely! But I’d be wary of the huge omnibus editions - similar to the B&N collection, when they start binding up multiple books together and the page counts get near 500 or more, you typically end up with very thin paper, tiny print, and an unwieldy book that is hard to read. If I track one down I’ll take some pics for you - I’d like to know what the spine design is like!
@@BeautifulBooks Thanks for the detailed information! The covers look very good in the photos. But not sure how they are in real life. What really drew me to this series is the beautiful oil painting like covers! I can't recall any other collection having such nice art on them.
You're completely right about the quality of print and paper for this heavy tomes though. Some books in this collection are heavy tomes.
What really surprised me was the fact that there is almost no information about this series! They've gone to all this trouble to make these and haven't provided any advertisement!
My guess is that they are marketed to libraries rather than the general public, which is why it’s so difficult to find information on them. The added expense for durability would usually not make them attractive to a normal consumer who wouldn’t need that sort of protection, but I’d also love to see how those pretty covers look in real life.

They also seem to have another leatherbound edition called Royal collectors edition. That's much simpler and considering the price, most likely is on par with the barnes and nobles collection in terms of quality

I backed the KS for the beehive books, so looking forward to them, and waiting for the minalima books, and the dune graphic novel. I am also (finally) getting around to buying fantastic beasts and where to find them.
From this video will look at russian tales, and provensen book of fairy tales, the sister who ate her brothers and daughter of the deep sounds interesting also.
Want to look at codex, the haunting and midnight of everwood and the every, low priority though.
Great selection - I think you get the Beehive books early with Kickstarter so you’ll have to let me know what you think when you get them! (Shipping to Oz is out of this world on their campaigns so I always wait for the trade editions.) The Codex is crazy (I have an earlier edition) - definitely take a look to decide if it’s your thing because it’s also rather huge!

I went and got 6 beehive books from the KS to ship here to thailand, it was less expensive than any alternative, was going to add a 7th but the extra shipping was too much so decided against it.
