In fact, Brooks is a prime example of this, as he has always been held criminally responsible in the past.
He's not completely insane. He's definitely disturbed but his behavior in court is strictly defiance and disrespect to the victims, their families, the judge and all court participants.
He’s doing this on purpose. He wants a dismissal or mistrial. He is really working this. He was way more calm when he withdrew his not guilty by reason of insanity plea. I’m so glad this judge isn’t stopping going forward with this trial so far. Who knows how far he will go.

I think there is a difference between being legally competent to stand trial/exercise his rights and being a political/religious zealot (eg a Sovereign Citizen). Many of these Sovereign Citizens seem to be otherwise normal folks who happen to be obscenely obsessed with cosplaying Matlock.

He is NOT incompetent to stand trial what so ever! He was seen by 3 of the top psychologist in the country, they brought in some big hitters! He did this to in an attempt to manipulate the jury, manipulate the record & once he realized the time it takes to go back & forth when putting him in the other courtroom so he began doing it non stop as a way to delay the trial which is what he has been trying to do! He may be bi polar but that's not a level of mental illness that doubt competency! I'm shocked these "guests" are saying he is not competent! We have seen mentally ill, the Olympic horse trainer, Austin from the face water trial, the slender man trial when comparing them to him you see the significant difference! He knew he couldn't get away w/the NGI plea b/c a inmate was "coaching" him on how to get the NGI on the verdict form as an alternate verdict! James Kruger, who is in prison with him, had given him docs. on how to manipulate the psychologist into deeming him Insane. He newspaper clipping from Krugers trial, letters Kruger wrote him, internet info on how to "act" insane, etc. but the judge was tipped off so they searched his cell and found all of the evidence of that under his mattress! If he would had presented it to the jury the DA would have had the right to inform the jury of all the info in his cell!
I'm sorry if you are that disruptive and unable to follow court rules, you shouldn't be allowed to represent yourself. You know this will continue, so just give him a lawyer now.

He can be put in the other room still to listen and can pass notes to his lawyer as needed, but his behaviour could be legitimately punished. The reason she can't hold him in contempt now, and thus why he is able to disrupt and delay so much, is because they are allowing him to represent himself. They could overrule that and say he isn't capable of defending himself because he will not follow court procedures. He is competent to stand trial but that doesn't mean he needs to be deemed competent to defend himself. Holding him in contempt, if he had a lawyer, wouldn't matter. It happens all the time.
