Mate..... if you put grease on the pins and washers and make them stay in the pump head it is much easier to drop the pump head on there. Some videos out there on this. less likely to misalign the holes and brake the pump head shaft.

Nice Vodeo man and good work!
I have to change my pump head in a few days, this video is a pleasure to see what's going on.
And in a few weeks i have to service 3 pumps, where the injection timing piston got stuck.
Hope I can fix them all 😅😁

Fiddly work there Mike, but good job in getting it back together again and all lined up inside. A bit of patience is needed. I'll stick with my V8 though.

I fullly stripped one of those pumps and then rebuilt it, my that was an interesting little experiment, did start up ok after refitting and it is still running. The sprung loaded device on the side of the pump that goes to a lever on the inside is very fiddly on some of the pumps, but that variant is not is not fitted to all LR's.

I wonder if it's in the realm of fully resealing and refitting/tweaking older 200/300tdi pumps by your average mechanic. Most LR fitted with those engines are so old that most pumps have at least a faint leak on them, personally saw many of them "sweating" - and no one knows where/how to repair them, not a lot of shops around for classic diesel pumps. And the ones charge big money.

I guess you could take the two wheels off on the same side and lower it down until the pump was upright still bolted to the engine so bits dont slide out so easily?

Hey, awesome video! Have you ever seen the front seal on these pumps fail multiple times? Mine has failed 7 times in 3 years! I've replaced the seal 5 times myself and had the pump professionally rebuilt twice ( shop says it is in perfect condition). Return line is clear and fuel pressure is good, any ideas? Its on a 1993 dodge ram 5.9 cummins. Thanks for your knowledge!

Viton seals (usually brown) give very few problems
