Last year i went to Kapodistrias' estate (now museum) at the island of Corfu. A great statesman with every sense of the word. Even today there are statues of him in Switzerland and Russia for his deeds in those countries (while serving as Russia's foreign minister he was among the key figures that set up the legal basis of modern Switzerland). Ironic that a man so honoured in the rest of the world, was shot dead at his own homeland over some petty feuds. Still his accomplishements in the 3 to 4 years of his governorship are astounding. As the video says, he got involved in every matter of nation building (even introduced crops like the potato to the country) while at the same time being able to balance the interests of the Great Powers thanks to his experience as a diplomat. It isn't that much of a strech to say that he was the Greek equivalent of George Washington. The right man for the right job. Anyways, great reaction! if you want to explore more of modern greek history, check the Kings and Generals vids on the Battle of Greece 1940
Announcer: Greece, you have just win your sovereignty where you can now have your own currency and your own economic policy without anyone else telling you what to do. What are you going to do next? Greece: We're joining the EU! (everyone ironically cheers)
Finally actually finished a series!
