Once the Powers installed Otto I of Bavaria as King of Greece, he sent the bavarian troops that came with him to enforce taxation to Mani. Apparently the maniots humiliated that expedition so much that in the end Otto ended up giving concessions to them. Otto in general was a bad ruler that refused to adapt to the local culture, which explains of the 1843 revolution that limited his power and then the one in 1862 that caused his abdication.
