Jordan already has all the infinity stones in his hands
I agree with the stranger
Jordan is the reason why sometimes dream theater sounds magical
ethereal
Jordan is the reason why dream theater sounds magical.
Fixed it for you.
His talent is godlike. All the guys in dream theater are totally amazing. The tightest band I've ever heard. I have the dream theater dvds, score celebrating 20 years, chaos in motion, and live at luna pier with the new drummer mike mangini, record holder over 1200 beats a min. Love mike portnoy still. You just cant compare the 2. Back to Jordan though, his composed pieces have brought tears to my eyes. Talened people like that come once in a lifetime. For anyone out there who will listen, those DVDS are a must have. It'll leave ya speechless. If I ever got the chance to meet any of those guys I'd probably have a heart attack. Thank you Dream theater for all the amazing music that has blessed my life
yes a good, right Komment, Bro
This guy is absolutely incredible.
sounds like crapola to me
Jordan is such a genius. Every dumb comment about what ‘he does not do’ is irritating. When one can play like Jordan, anything musical is achievable. It’s people like Jordan and Guthrie Govan that take us into realms of music previously unrealized.
One thing I want to point out is that people like Jordan have the luxury of spending so much time messing with all this new gear because he's already technically adept and able to write amazing music. Of course there's nothing wrong with noobs or intermediates doing this as well, but I recommend doing it in moderation. And the reason is because it's incredibly easy to spend too much of your time getting lost in finding the best gear and learning how to use it. Don't be one of those people who spends their time arguing over analog vs digital in the forums when you really should be spending that time practicing. Just focus on writing and recording good music WITH WHAT YOU HAVE. Find something that allows you to achieve good tone and that has the features you absolutely need, then spend your time working on your technique and writing.
Rusty Shackleford I think my problem is that I'm a pianist, but I've got five guitars, drums, a pair of bass guitars, a dozen keyboards, percussion and various orchestral instruments. I also have tons of studio gear that goes to each instrument. And I actually try to maintain it all and keep it in good shape. Half of it is stored with family and friends. I spent everything I earned since middle school and barely ate food while in university. The idea was that I'd provide my band with instruments and a place to practice, because I come from a home of scarcity, in a neighborhood with friends who couldn't afford such things. Of course, by the time I'd acquired a band's worth I was no longer playing in a band, my friends had moved on, my time was limited by studies and interests had changed.
So now I'm basically living in a condo together with a zoo of musical history. And I can't play shit, because I spent all my time trying to figure out how stuff worked and how best to afford anything. I'll probably end up donating it to a children's music institute or something. I prefer listening over playing today anyways. Such a wasted youth...

Most guitar players I know are absolutely obsessed with gear and pickups and pedals.
I have a Squire guitar and sometimes I'll tell people that what I recorded was on a Fender. Nobody has ever been able to tell the difference.
This is so true for every domain of life. Focus on the how and not the what!! Time is your best asset. So use it wisely!
Nobody HAS to like it but I for one think his playing is magnificent and very soulful.
One of the best keyboard players in the world.... with him Dream Theater become a fantastic group.
So giving of his time. All the videos he's put out to help anyone who will spend the time to listen. Not boastful, prideful. He knows he's gifted and is using said gift to share his music.
I would guess he doesn't sleep much. I've only met him in videos on RUclips and he appears to be a caring, humble, sincere individual. Behind closed doors he might be the raving lunatic taking control of any situation....but I doubt it.
How many musicians do you know of that spends this much time doing demonstrations, touring, writing apps for IOS, writing books, developing new instruments, is married, recording, etc...and still takes questions and will do a meet and greet afterwards? Really? Some may not like his music but you have to admire his dedication, if not, you're missing the boat.
17/8 time signature....could you count that for me please? LOL. And "he lacks heart and soul"...well then...go listen to whatever it is that turns you on but do it over there. This is a different kind of musician. Perhaps most of us don't quite understand, and that's fine. But until you try to attempt playing a keyboard please understand, it takes decades to get to this point and for me, I'm glad he's still doing it. He said it a few times...passion.
I'd love to meet him someday, what an inspiring musician!
What? I think i tuned out
@@jolteon43 - An obviously amazing musician and a man with a good sense of humor. I did get the chance to meet Jordan in New York City. We happened upon the same street corner and i recognized him immediately. i thought rather than impose, i would have bit of fun. I asked Jordan, "Say, have I ever seen you out playing in a piano bar or karaoke maybe?" - I asked with a smile, sending the message that I knew exactly who he was.
Rudess replied, also with a smile..."Why yes, I think you might have."..and with that, we parted.
Whoever is saying that “he lacks heart and soul” is totally BS ing. I always feel warm and fuzzy when I hear Jordan’s piano. He is unique and a magician. He’s so wholesome.
Absolutely ... Can't await to see Jordan live again.
100% pure class.
The best pianist that i've seen...
J. R., the best there was, there is and there ever will be! The magician!
simply genius....Jordan Rudess u rules!
IMHO, genius is, for example, Gregg Rolie for his Oye Como Va Hammond solo or Keith Emerson for his TARKUS riff or From The Beginning Moog solo.
+bubusdeolivos I know for sure that you aren't a musician , for sure !
+Os Musick I'm 62 and playing since I was 16...what about you pendejo?
+bubusdeolivos I'm a musician from this generation asshole ! And the future is near with this kind of musician , the masters of the 70s are the master , but the future lives with the spirit and the knowledge of JR
+Os Musick if you are so fond of JR...pendejo...why don't you get a room with him and praise his speed...you're so fast... Tired of your kind of rookie musician. You need someone to change your diapers.
he's really really very good. He's a great pro keyboardist.
Seriously though, you played amazingly Jordan. Thank you for stepping into, and filling a position, that was ultimately made for you in Dream Theater, that through that journey you would spread your wings and fly multidimensionally. Into a career defined only by your ambition. Thank you sir. For the beautiful tones.
I saw him with DT several days ago. it's 2019 and he's already 62... but still have the passion like the 20s.
Such a remarkable human.
Absolutely great! Thanks Jordan, thanks Korg
After all, dream theatre is like a pack of cards. 4kings in a row!! :-):-)
hahahaha, nice one !!
Nobody can say so about LaBrie 😁
Andrej Bánovčin Disagree, James is a talented singer too. He does well given his age and two vocal injuries later, can’t expect him sing like he did when he was younger.
Sky Quest Music Official 2? When was the 2nd one?

great musicians of the world
Fucking amazing.....
Jordan Rudess is not just a keyboardist . . He's such a talented musician . . He has holy & heavenly fingers . . Amen
Cool thanks
Very good, of the best as a keyboardist and musician, I interpreted by myself a person who is wrong with the evolution and his musical interpretation in which he must do it as a group with other musicians. My admiration for his interactive level and a great applause. ..But I am going well on the path of the evolution of things like Disc Jockey, Musician, Composer, Soloist of modern musical devices and at the time of combining them through advanced MIDI and the evolution of modern music doing Direct Sessions with their own songs and intrepetandolos live and direct, playing, mixing, combining, mutating, etc ... My dear friends I cheer with all things and let's all go with joys and congratulations ... to dance everyone ...
mad skills
The goat
I found a little piece of this interview quite interesting - 42:30 - from an introspection perspective. Jordan talks about how his vision about the Rock music world was blurred by the years of musical training he had, where rock musicians were seen as lower grade or less talented and therefore not something he wanted to achieve thus denying his own nature.
Luckily he figured it out and me too!
It's rather difficult to find your own voice. I am glad Jordan and yourself were able to do so.
I liked it too, if only because I've always viewed rock and metal as highest form good music could take lol. I always saw classical pieces, jazz, and even hip hop and saw that metal could perfectly incorporate all into one, and I fell in love. Finding my own voice with music has been hard, but a jazzy-black metal was the sound I came to create. I figured out something different, that all music is equal, even if I don't like it. I aspire to be seen as a good musician, not a rock star or a rapper etc etc. I'm glad you reached an epiphany of your own, and even more glad that you found your own voice! Keep it up!
Nothing can substitute grand piano hammer action :)
Man... That touch sensitive keyboard is just, the coolest instrument !! And I'm a guitarist! I also think J.R. would be the one to take it to heights as well !..
I want one, and I'm a guitarist too. ahhahaha.
que gran honor para el yisus tener el privilegio de tocar con jordan rudess
King Crimson's Moonchild on an I-pad and it's great!
Pwolichu muthe

Kratos playing the piano
Angelo with korg KRONOS
hahaha
Yamaha in the 80's manufactured many parts for KORG. The M1 keys are from the DX7
Awesome concert and some history... But where's master class???)))
The Seaboard was really neat. I was wondering what those were when I saw NeonVines play one.
Un mostro. Wooooooow!
Congratulations to Turkish keyboard player Eren Başbuğ, it is a great chance to be with such a master.
True wizard
The man
19:53 amazing
Saw Dregs in bar in Lawrence KS decades ago. stood in front 6 ft. from Steve Morse. Awesome, of course. Someone said welcome our new keyboardist blah blah. Here is this cat with a Kurz, or rwo? (I think) with charts strung everywhere on stage... reading everything madly. I was fixated with him.... so dug in. Wonder if that was JR?
Good pianist.
DUUDDEE!!!! WE WERE ON THE NEWS!!!!
I find Dream Theater boring, but this guy is a bona fide genius.
la verdad suena muy bien que rico que cambiara mas de tonalidad para la interpretación
This one of Jordan most detailed interview about how he started.
Amazing talent. JR has always been my number 1 favourite keyboardist. Can't remember the Rolling Stone's song he plays on the piano. I used to listen to it a lot back in the early days. May somebody remind me what's the song called please ?
As Tears Go By
What is the name of the song at 7:10?. He is an amazing musician, Jordan is the best!!!
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAAAA...BUEN TECLISTA MUSICO Y COMPOSITOR..CON UN POCO MAS UN GRAN Disc Show Man..Bien animo y vayamos todos con alegrias...dando buenos momentos...
My dear friends I cheer with all things and let's all go with joys and congratulations ... to dance everyone ..
Jordan has such a weird hand technique. It's very finger-y and he keeps his wrists low and back away from the keyboard. I've never seen a concert pianist do that, so I wonder if it came from his classical training or if it's just a habit he got into doing himself.
"At nine, he entered the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division for classical piano training, but by his late teens he had grown increasingly interested in synthesizers and progressive rock music. Against the counsel of his parents and tutors, he turned away from classical piano and tried his hand as a solo progressive rock keyboardist"
Taken from Wikipedia
In his loudwire video he said one of his teachers would force his arm down the piano while doing arpeggios to get him used to that motion and that it just needed to flow with the speed of the music. Pretty sure that's where that finger-y style came from. You can tell he doesn't contort his arm around to fit fingers on keys which is what he mentioned was part of the technique he learned from that teacher. He was like 7 or 9 years old or something.
One question I've always had was how does he get his backing tracks to play? Are they coming from his Kronos or something else?
I liked the video, I would just like to request two things
- Activate the caption so that other people from other countries can better follow the video
- The name of the support keyboardist in the video description
Top 1 in the World...
No more Korg Kronos, what is the next best keyboard???
Absolutely fantastic. Also, a shoe appears at 20:38.
The Johnny Sins of Piano
Did anybody catch the name of the small, wireless keyboard at the end?
What was the last incredible piece on piano? Thanks!
I love you boss my piano master
Is Jordan having problems with his back because with every year he seems getting more of a hunch? I hope there's nothing to concern, really love his playing! And awesome Masterclass! Thanks Korg for the upload!
he's getting old. :-) hope the best for him.
Who isn't? lol
indeed
A lot of it has to do with his posture and technique, he needs to lift his left wrist higher and relax his shoulder blades back, unfortunately some people develop bad habits and keep on with them only to lock themselves into bad muscle memory that sets in to make them look a bit contorted when they play.
there are people who don't like this? I guess thats ok, but a little weird! a game changer of a musician.
very much
1:26:10 amazing
Does anybody knows what plugin Jordan plays on iPad? at around 23:00
