I've been mucking with ST4 for a while now and everything you say really rings true. Better choices out there
Really interesting review. Recently bought Joe Chiccerelli plug in with 4for1 deal, which gave me Mixbox, and various TSRack effects. I've been considering the Total 3.5 MAX deal, which is currently about £225 - seems a super deal but I have concerns re. Sample Tank (as you point out) and the Orchestral stuff seems very dated too. Modo Bass & Drums seem ok and Amplitude reasonable. Like the Tape machines (which are rated but resource hungry) and extra TS processor packs. Also heard about CPU strains and have concerns about finding space to store stuff - most of which I wouldn't use. Deadline is 30th Sept - can't make my mind up!

I think you are a bit jugemental about this product. Part of making music is makin the best of what is givent to you. It's part of the creative process to limit yourself to a set of paremeters. Writing a poem for example implicates that things must rhyme. This forces you to twist your mind in order to make words fit, and therefore generating new paterns of thought that you would have otherwise never accessed if you were free to just write freely. Having an infinit resource of pristeen 1 milion dollar sounds will kill your greativity. Creativity is a struggle to do with what you have. The plugin rack? it is awsome. "This will be too hard to use for you..." "It looks like a 76, but it is not" etc.. Listen, for 199$ you get 600 GB of sounds and a rackmount full of plugins. I don't know about you, but someone with imagination, skills an talent to write a good tune cand go a long way with such a setup. Ok , complement it with a couple of real instruments and other plugins for specific use like Serum etc.. I have nothing against you but I sense a bit of a condescending manner about you. I wonder if you, yourself would be able to produce music that would genuinely outclass the quality of this synth. People dont care about which sytth you used, they just want to hear good music. People buy outlandish plugins, and dont really create more interesting music with them. Shape of you by Ed Sheeran... A little marimba riff, a little drum machine beat and a 10 million dollar song.
agreed, you can tweak them and make them like the way you want...I have been gigging with ST 4 since 2020 and it has never failed me
Don't understand the Edit page and the Matrix and LFOs ,
I changed a few things and the sound did not change.
Scientists and mathematicians make music these days so they would understand it.
I am 72 and just starting with a midi controller. I need sounds to add to live Beatles music. I would like to know if this will work on an IPad.
