Thanks for this! I have long super thick wavy/curly hair and I never wear hats because they wreck my hair. I'm in Scotland so it'd be nice to be cosy! I crochet but I don't really sew so went looking for a tutorial and found this. I'll have to hand sew it but it gives me a clue where to start.
Lol 😆I was laughing 😅 but you did great. You can cut out the rectangle then fold it in the middle before shaping the curve that way it will mirror each other and be the same. OR cut one side and then fold over to cut the other side. The cap is gorgeous 😍
I loved this video! I did laugh but mainly because I can't draw straight either and my lining would've looked the same. You made it look easy! And thank you for showing us using a sewing machine because my hand sewing is terrible! New subscriber!
Thank you for this video! I am a knitter who can now wear the hats I make without messing up my do. Also, I just wanted to say that you come across in your video as a beautiful, light-hearted spirit (which we can sure use a lot more of in our world right now)🧡
@@YeleStitches you’re most welcome! One of my New Year’s resolutions is to call out the beautiful flowers I see amongst the weeds… you are the first of what I hope will be a big, blooming garden. Happy New Year to you as well!
What a wonderful idea and instructional video! I have long auburn curly hair & this will be a lifesaver. I love your energy and humour, I have subscribed ❤😊
do you think it would work to simply hold a sheet of satin around one's head (with extra for stretch and seam allowance), and like cut that piece (basically a giant circle) out and sew that into the hat?? Asking bc i dont have a serger or a sewing machine
@@YeleStitches Finally went through with sewing the lining into a beanie! It seems to have created a bit of puckering on the stretchy beanie fabric though. Do you have any tips to help prevent that?
@@KaosCreations I wish I knew what you meant by puckering. It might be a normal kind of pucker but I can’t say for certain without seeing it. So glad you finally made one though!
@@YeleStitches Yeah I wish I could post a photo here but its kind of bunching up a lot of the beanie around it. I think I'm going to rip it out and try an even longer stitch length, so that its not grabbing into the beanie as often, if that makes sense? Anyways, learning!
Ok for the bottom. It’s the circumference of your head divided by two, then add one inch for allowance. You can also just use 13”. Remember the fabric is on fold, that would make it a total of 26”.

It doesn’t hurt to try! You can definitely do that and I hope it works out great
I am trying this tomorrow
Yay!!! Please let’s know how it goes!
I tried this and had issues with the stitches causing no stretch of the silk.
Are you using any sort of stretch thread?
@@avapickard1541 no I just used a zig zag stitch to sew it. Did you stretch your beanie as you stitched the satin on? And used a zig zag stitch?
Where did you get the satin?
You can get it on Etsy
what sort of stitch settings did you use for your zigzag to the cap? Looking forward to lining my own!
stitch width of 5, stitch length of 3. I wish you all the best!!!

Can someone explain where the 26" measurement came from?
@@Shizushin786 I added extra inches to the regular head circumference. 26” is a safe bet for all head sizes
@YeleStitches thank you!
@@Shizushin786 my pleasure!
Is there a printable pattern for this?
Unfortunately, there is none for right now because there was no demand for it. If I get more demands, I would make one for this
Sorry I didn’t understand how you got the measurements for the bottom !?!? Couldn’t see the bottom of the screen

my hat doesnt stretch anymore after sewing the satin in.
@@xeriaseaton7128 That’s sad,so sorry.
did you use a zigzag stitch to sew it on? Also the cap might not have been that stretchy to begin with
