Wow, I did not know this cast on had a name! My grandma taught me how to cast on like this over 50 years ago. Until I came across knitting podcasts I didn't know there are many many ways to cast on. How funny life can be.

Lol - I was stuck on a pattern and opened my iPad to search cabled cast-on, and there was my favorite instructor! Well-timed Jana, thank you!

Great CO, it's almost like my Irish Granny's with a twist. She use to wrap the yarn over two fingers and incert left needle into the loop creating a set up row to knit through for your ribbing and or other variations as in stockinette etc.,.

What about in continental ? It looks like something I would like to use, but I am a continental knitter. I love your teaching. You explain things so well.

Usually if I drop a stitch during a cast on, I just begin again.
