    I had the 2 door 1.2 Ka, liked it a lot, but anyone other than children trying to get in the back was a struggle, this model Ka+ was the perfect solution, love it.

    Thank you for listening to your subscribers and doing a review of a basic car! I probably would not buy a KA but it is quite interesting nevertheless, harder for manufacturers to put together a safe cheap car than a big up to date model.

    Nice review. As a compact city car, I would like to have seen more detail on the turning circle, as this helps maneuverability in built-up areas. Thanks.

    Good price/performance/fun to drive ratio; for someone needing a 'new' car. 18:33 thanks for the German course for today! And the commentary is always so good on the driving parts; thanks Thomas.

    Excellent review Thomas - great that you give these more humble vehicles equal length and attention. These new smaller cars are pretty good for room, but the dashboard looks a bit fiddly now. 7l per 100km equates to about 35mpg, which is terrible for a city car. The Suzuki Celerio gets about 4.5-5l per 100km, for example. Even my 15 year old Panda manages 4.8l per 100km!

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  6 лет назад +2

      yeah the Celerio performed very well in consumption

    • @Nigelrudyardmusic
      @Nigelrudyardmusic 6 лет назад +1

      In fairness, I checked out the Ka+ on a couple of "Real MPG" sites (owner reports of actual fuel consumption) and once the engine loosens up, most owners are getting around 47MPG (about 5L per 100km). The Celerio is also 200kg lighter and the Ford has a four cylinder engine, rather than the three cylinder hair dryer to be found under the bonnet of the Celery, sorry, Celerio.

    It would be really awesome if you guys could review the newly redesigned 2018 Ford Expedition and/or Lincoln Navigator. You had previously made a video of the VW Atlas, another US centric car, so I hope you can make some more exceptions. There aren't many good video reviews of those two SUVs out there, especially the relaxed driving part where you get a good sense of the vehicle's capabilities.

  • @tipazas
    @tipazas 6 лет назад

    I agree that it makes more sense price/performance ratio. As with premium cars I think price often goes up not in proportion with what you get, and even when you encounter with some parts as in much cheaper cars, it's hardly pleasant.

      Autogefühl let’s hope the updates include an autotrans. Essential for anything promoted as a city car.
      I had one as a courtesy car recently, and was impressed with how much car you can get for not much money. I can imagine some lower income families being rather pleased with the Ka+. As a family hack or a second car it makes a lot of sense. It rewards a relaxed style of driving.

    I think it is a very similar size to the just-superseded Fiesta (mark 7?), but it seems to be worse than that Fiesta in every way... you cannot even get the ecoboost engine in the Ka+ in the UK. To me it appears that a slightly-used Fiesta Mk 7 makes more sense than a new Ka+

    I went to Brazil and rented a Ka, with the 1L 3 Cyl engine NA. It ran beautifully. Also I have to say the engine sounded great for such a tiny little thing.
    I went to Brazil 1 year later, this time I got a Chevy Onix... Absolutely garbage. I have nothing good to say about it... Engine was worse, clutch was horrible, visibility was poor, transmission, kinda decent 6 speed but the clutch made it feel bad... Just crap. Wife picked it because she had a Chevy Corsa previously... I had to explain that the Corsa isn't a chevy but rebadged european car.

  • @timo9748
    @timo9748 6 лет назад +1

    7 liters? jesus, thats a lot. I had a 15 year old corsa with 70 PS as my first car and it was just shy of 5 liters on 100km. Our company car is a 1.4 TSI Golf and even that car uses way less than 7 liters, more like 6.

  • @SimonIngram
    @SimonIngram 6 лет назад

    Its a nice, unpretentious and basic little car. Already a new version is coming this year, with a 3 cylinder 1.1 engine, improvements including touch screen, and external hatch release, and minor styling changes.

  • @MajorKlanga
    @MajorKlanga 6 лет назад +2

    The interior looks pretty ugly, I think it'd make more sense to buy a slightly used Fiesta or Polo. Also a suggestion Thomas : with low powered cars especially, it'd be useful to see you drive up a really long hill on a fast road to see whether it could maintain speed. Where I live there are lots of dual carriageways with long ascents; I often notice that if I cruise at a set speed, people with small underpowered cars overtake on the downhill parts then slow down considerably on the uphill parts hence baulking me and other drivers with sufficiently powerful cars. I wouldn't like to be one of them.

      Still looks a lot better than the Ka imo. I agree on the Jazz being better, but it's also much more expensive.

  • @Luniii737
    @Luniii737 6 лет назад +1

    7 liters is a bit too much. :( - Well. I guess it's bearable for a petrol engine.
    But I like the approach with the size and that you can still fit in 4 rather tall passengers easily. It's probably a rather small market. But hey, thanks Ford.
    It's a good car for students from parents that'd like to buy them a new car (with 10000.- it being quite afordable), for example.

    Looks like something made for south American and Indian market i.e. cheap. When other manufacturers are making small relatively cheap cars with some design flair and appeal (Kia, Hyundai etc) this isn't going to cut it anymore

  • @mikewestwood567
    @mikewestwood567 6 лет назад +3

    Ford have such dull, anonymous designs in their cars nowadays. Ka, the new Fiesta, Focus. All so dull. What happened to their design flair. They also have poor infotainment, not a fan of Sync. But can’t argue with their driving dynamics. Ford cars generally excel with that :)

    • @Aenkor1982
      @Aenkor1982 6 лет назад

      Mike Westwood in fact i really like the Sync 3 in my new fiesta. Works flawless.

    • @docholliday4292

      Mike Westwood Totally agree with you.

    • @mikewestwood567
      @mikewestwood567 6 лет назад +1

      Josch Alpha Agreed. Sync 3 is much improved as they ditched the buggy Microsoft OS and moved to a Linux based OS. It still looks incredibly dated for a modern infotainment system. Opel/Vauxhall have the edge with Intellilink and OnStar. That brings premium level features like remote diagnostics, in-car WiFi, emergency SOS etc. Plus a more modern interface.

  • @watershed44

    This car is obviously a cost cutting exercise compared to the original Ka.
    Original Ka much more interesting, fun, and a better drive.
    Mostly horrible, and originally aimed at the Indian and other third world markets.
    Styling reminds me of the horrid US Ford Festiva from the mid 90s.
