- Very little is known about the Punans. Today, they number a few thousand and live in small groups scattered over an immense territory in the primeval forest of Borneo.
To survive in the jungle, the Punan had to invent their own hunting techniques suited to their environment. But when a wild game is killed, they always adopt the little orphans that they find: monkeys or otters then become members of their families.
From the documentary: "Master of spirits - The world of the Punan"
Direction: Jean-Michel Corillion

Living in harmony with nature.
Living in contentment and taking only what is needed but free from complicated things.
As a fellow Dayak and Bornean, it really warms my heart watching this beautiful documentary.
Made me feel better , and to think we were all like this once , if you go back in time .. These people are special and I hope they keep there way of life ...👏
they forgot the part where chinaman comes and gives em cigarette and 5$ for the bird shit, so they can resell it 5K$.
@@bobbymaldini7653 Well, these people live off the land, they don't have mortgage and bills to pay. They don't need that much money like civilized people. And also gathering "bird saliva" (not poop) doesn't require them a lot of time and effort.
“How small men is in the face of the plant world”. It is absolutely beautiful and refreshing to learn that in some corner of our planet there is a people that revere nature and posses knowledge that modern man, with all his scientific advancement has yet to attain. Part of that knowledge is knowing that we as human are a minuet part of the amazingly beautiful puzzle that we call nature. In the words of the native people of the Americas, “the earth doesn’t belong to us, we belong to the earth”.
Excellent documentary befitting an award of the highest kind!!👍👍👍
They are lucky people because they are far from pollution And noise of the city they are really in direct contact with nature I love that kind of living
🧢
Yeah but they had problem with illegal logging plus deforestation
Facts...💯😇🧬❤️🙊o:-)

When person willing to gain knowledge accept the unpleasant truth rather than adopting religion to cover truth and pray all day for changes is when they increase productivity.
these people are so precious
Mr. Great So very true, I admire them a lot.

My father was born there. His Father was the District Commissioner and magistrate with the River Dyak. Many lovely photos from then. My grandmother was a photographer and accompanied various expeditions into the interior.

I wish I was born like these people. no social media, no traffic, NO INSECURITIES 😔
No modern medicine, and if you break your footankle no hospital. If you get heart condition and need pacemaker, no. No English or Spanish for you. No Internet or music for you. Etc.
Aku suka dengan cara orang pedalaman berburu,,tanpa alat yg moderen bisa menghasilkan buruan yg diinginkan,,👍👍👍😍 Mantap Suku Punan

I wish the jungle to stay safe and whole for you to live in peace forever, love from Australia 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼🌈💗
Good job. Thanks for your hard work. I enjoy watching.
puna tribe is one of a kind because they adopt animals ang treated like thier own. ❤️❤️❤️
The Australian Aborigines have been adopting dingoes ever since they turned up in Australia
Yes, but if they adopt monkeys then why do they have a leash around them? Not cool.
Government around the world need to protect the existence of indegenous tribes, ,
True!!!!
Amazing video so real no tricks not boring to watch thanks mate watching here in the Philippines
They are lucky people because living in peaceful place...
Yes very lucky!
Great documentary film. Not only entertaining also informative.
This is one of my favorite Channel, I hope u make long videos like this guys. Thank u. 👍❤
Always watching, nice video
These people so far have survived technology and modern growth for centuries. Also man has learned we can not live without the existence of the rain forest. The key to this problem is will man remember.
I never heard of this tribal family. I hope them good health and hope they are living in peace ❤💕🙏😅
Love watching how others live,it’s fascinating to me,thanks for sharing all the way to Florida
AWESOME DOC.....
Excelente narración me encanta ver estos documentales, pero yo solo hablo y entiendo castellano
That deer backpack was impressive
Thankyou so much for sharing and educating us all on this beautiful way of life, blessings to you all
That's so beautiful they adopt abandoned orphan animals 💕 and make them part of the family.
But yet they they keep them tied up? Not cool.
thank you SLICE...
As the narrator said in the beginning, “raises more questions than it provides answers”
I have so many questions! What happens when they get sick? Tooth problems etc…
How do they combat fleas, and other insects?
Do they speak the same language as the surrounding tribes? Are there surrounding tribes?
So many questions..
Also, why are they wearing Walmart shorts? Lol
salute to the camera man 👌🏼
The wandering spirits of the jungle . A dayak tribe they know the jungle at his best .
The way they all walked across the tree like it wasn't nothing 😮
You can tell this was shot in the late 90's or early 2000's.. yall need an update on the punan tribe..
Seriously. The video quality is definitely dated. Good film but not a recent one.
Is hard to understand how they can live necked and barefoot 🦶 walking in the forest beside mosquito bite I wonder 😟 unbelievable God bless them
They get tough feet without shoes protecting them . Also it's naked lol
They live much better than us on the cities with our outfits, egos and rush to make money and pay the bills .
🤣🤣🤣🤣, so funny Vicky but very true. Our city guys are now thinking whether they should go to press the nulear button to finish off the neighbours or modifying the AK 47 for more killings. So shameful of our so called civilized world.
No pay the "man"
I share the same thought with you
You are a goog man and you have a good heart like nature.
Exactly!
I watched already have a wonderful job
first😘😘😘
If they are cut off from civilized world then where they get cigarette because he is smoking
That's the ultimate way of life a human being can experience
Reminds me of those Bushmen of the Kalahari Desert in the famous film, "The God's must be crazy," parts 1 and 2). These guys are the most civilized and know how to survive for generations unlike the so called technologically advanced society of today that is likely to destroy the entire world in seconds.
I think living in a jungle is less problems to incounter. No need to worry about the bills everymonth just food.Sometimes i envy this people. The freedom they have and the simplicity of thier life. But i have so many responsibilities i couldnt abandon i have to live in city to help my family back home.
What a beautiful people 🥰
Wow… watching this documentary is like sitting in meditation
They also count like our language here in the philippines, visayas region.😊
I may be wrong about this but, I believe Indonesia is in the process of the Capital relocating from Java to Kalimantan or Borneo, as it is widely known.
This will certainly change the whole Island in due course. I wish these people well.
The land is already charged far before capital city plans to move, there's almost no forest in borneo by the name of oil palm plantation, less than 15% of borneo Island is forest (real forest) tribe like Punan will vanish soon if we are not concern to the ecosystem (Real Jungle) sadly hole over the world is hunger for palm oil.
@@gairahadam5304 😭
Fascinating!
I want to live like that 😍!
Cap
I'm.miss my jungle forest.. Borneo' i be for i'm lif in city..😊
Wow how much love! 😘
I feel very bad for these people...For how long will they manage to live the way they want to live considering the destruction of their land/deforestation.Watching documentaries like these make me realize how spoiled and greedy I am,nonetheless amazing documentary.
So if these people progressed like Westerners they would automatically become spoiled and greedy too? Are you saying they are better off like this? Do you think they don’t deserve to live like you because they are dark skin?
Very old news
@@franciscusnuyts627 People cant express their concerns if its not something that hasnt already been said? You must be fun to hang out with
@@mhm77887 YEP !!!!!!!!!!!! That"s one thing for sure kid
George. Brother. At least your not blind. May I ask what kind of name you have? It sounds really unique.
Yea it is true that living in the jungle really magnificent. The air is fresh and plants surround you provide clean oxygen. Everything there is available for better living. Without money you can still be alive too.
I wiah I were there.
Our ancestor homo erectus survived for 2 million years, much longer than homo sapiens is likely to do, because he was at one with nature. 10,000 years ago humans settled down, changed how we ate, accumulated possessions, land, women and greed took over. That is when we ruined things.
Thank you
That was probably about 50000 years after the Australian Aborigines had a society possessions and rituals and all that sort of thing .
Don't forget social media, the death of humanity and any morals!
Good Stuff go Strong 💪🙏
that's my favorite place .very amazing place i want to be tarzan hahaha

Just found your channel. Thanks for the unique video.
making a video recording of their daily life there is not easy and their life there is very unusual compared to the life of the global situation now.. thank you admin, I am amused to see this video🧐👍👍😍
Well, linguistically, they are Austronesian. So it points to the theory that their ancestors did come from southern China just like the huge majority of the people inhabiting maritime Southeast Asia and some portions of mainland Southeast Asia.
Descedant of ancient Nanman/Nanyue peoples.
With their distinctive tattoo & superb swordsmith culture.
@@syariefdirgantara628 They don't have tatoing or farming cultures, plus their DNA are one of the oldest in Indonesia.
Look at a map of the world look at all the southern countries and that's where all the oldest tribal people have come from on top you get all the more advanced people. I think it was the other way around everyone come from the South on the three different continents
I hope one day the world will be able to adopt a much stricter law that will safeguard indigenous people throughout the world.and all that belongs to them..they showed us how our world was lived..
May god bless this family
Keep your cursed prayer, these people have their own Gods.
that was awesome

I gotta learn how he did the deer backpack! 🦌 🎒
😢😢😢😢😢😢the tribes on the planet became a tourist attraction horrible disaster nothing was left untouched
My ancestors the igorot lived like this before
Estas personas son verdaderos supervivientes.
Since there are aggressive agricultural and horticultural tribes in Borneo ,how often do Penan encounter them . And how do it usually turns out?
Luar biasa alam nya
Amazing how they never have any bug bites!
I'm glad they use rope leg traps. The metal ones are too cruel. If it's not the species your looking for, their leg is shattered and will soon die. 😞
We should all be so lucky. Oh natural.
This tribe is ini North Borneo, State of Malaysia..
Nice

How old is this documentary.i get the feeling it was made possibly early 90,'s??
