The song that he was singing at time mark 14:45 the words being translated into English is not what he was saying at all it's just another way that these shows try to make things out to be more entertaining and dramatic my aunt is actually bilingual in a half dozen languages she born and raised in Africa she can speak and understand this language very well and we had just watched this she literally couldn't watch anymore because she was upset by what the translations supposedly said.. the song is actually about two men of different parts of the world being lost and finding comfort in each other when they haven't seen their families and forget what the real world is about from the time that they spent together lost
Fell asleep and youtube auto-played the next video. Several videos later woke up and found this. I'm currently reading Moon Witch, Spider King and the donga plays a significant part of the story. I absolutely love this channel and the world-class videos. Having said that, the producer or editor knows nothing about the Samurai to make an analogy like that. There's is literally nothing in this entire video that resembles the Samurai - from weapons, techniques, startegy, tactics, clothing/armor, Bushido code, influence, ethos, psychology, culture, social mores, etc. It's best to simply not make the analogy and let the Burnis and Surma represent themselves as they are. There's enough in them to admire, have great respect for, appreciation, and awe without the analogy.
@@goldbluetears ausgepicht presented some very valid points, and in no way in a manner that would merit being told to calm down. Given that, your response was quite honesly rather strange.
How do you feel about that? Serious question. I've been having an enternal battle with myself on it. Part of me thinks its great we get to see it. How would we know they are there? How do we protect their lands and their ways to ensure they thrive? These tribes are closest to early human and how they lived and communicated so its fascinating to see and learn and imagine what life would have been like for humankind and where we came from. Its like the one visual we have of human ancestors. After all...Earth is Mother and Africa is the womb. But then that other part of me is like...do we really need to be introducing seemingly happy people to new technology? I saw another tribe in the Amazon who had no desire to give up their ways. Then the gov came in and gave them luxuries including a TV. It was borderline heartbreaking to see at the end of the doc this group of people gathered staring at the TV instead of what they were doing in the beginning of the doc...jumping in the river, hunting...little small every day hunter-gather tribal unit things. I feel like its all rock and a hard place to learn but also still be respectful and not use them for monetary gain and then not use that money to invest back. So I judge each creators differently- Who are they? What are their other videos? Is there flashy items on their insta? This channel seems "safe" to me. It has 1 million subs. Why are you guys going on about how their culture is so awesome? Their culture is fighting their neighbors all the time and leaving their ladies to do all the work. They are starving some days because of this. If they decided to work together, and quit with the fighting their neighbors, they would prosper. That's really why you don't want them to change, as long as they keep disconnected, other peoples can step in and take what they want.

Ohh they got sticks these people never evolve they never increase in technology or ways of doing things they been doin the same thing for thousands of years People are supposed to learn and evolve into somthing greater science medicine weapons technology for protection
African governments continue to fail Africans.
Their governments could designate protected lands to these tribes to preserve our heritage. It's so sad that LIVING history, selfless humans and human ancestry are at risk of extinction because of greed and power fuelled conflict.
I hope I can see in this lifetime a positive, uncorrupted, legitimate, visionary across Africa. Modern humans are destruction.
An absolutely fascinating documentary.
Sending peace and hope to these brothers and sisters. Love from Zimbabwe 🇿🇼

Magnificent balance & natural majestic beauty.
Fell asleep and youtube auto-played the next video. Several videos later woke up and found this. I'm currently reading Moon Witch, Spider King and the donga plays a significant part of the story. It's wonderful to see it in action. Also i'm quite certain the Surma are a major inspiration in this book and Black Leopard, Red Wolf. Both by Marlon James.
Truly appreciated this documentary with great satisfaction
I'm from Southern Africa and our cultures and tradional ways are pretty much still the same as theirs... We still have warriors and stick fighting means everything to us it is done in weddings and other uncestoral rituals.

We still cut our skin, our faces, our ears , but we don't cut our bottom lip.

Thank you in sharing . Very nice documentary.. The Black Samurai.
God. Bless this. People.

2022 no depression we used to call them primitive but now they are the true natures of how society must try and emulate before it goes mad
This culture has made many rich through documentaries.
Theres no glitz or HEY GUYS WELCOME TO MY CHANNEL AND TODAY WE GONNA SKIN A GOAT!- *NOT CLICKBAIT* I dont know. Sorry for all the words but after a few months of digging into to these your question is something I have been struggling with. Its been two years since you wrote your comment but I would still really like to hear your thoughts currently

Wonderful people, they have given the world so much. The arts, science, technology.
What would we be without them.
Give these people a soccer ball and show them that a REAL man shows his strength by scoring a goal, not murdering his brother with sticks and guns. They would love it and begin to love a peaceful life with other clans. The murdering each other to show their "tough" is ignorant and barbaric. Ancient Egyptian stick fighting tradition is kept alive
Why are you guys going on about how their culture is so awesome? Their culture is fighting their neighbors all the time and leaving their ladies to do all the work. They are starving some days because of this. If they decided to work together, and quit with the fighting their neighbors, they would prosper. That's really why you don't want them to change, as long as they keep disconnected, other peoples can step in and take what they want.
because they are awesome. not cowards. however yes being divided allows for exploitation by those who are united and expanding territory via technology & theology. its a lose-lose situation. to change or not to change is a hard decision best left up to the Surma elders yea.
