That and Superman: The Animated Series were the best Versions of both characters ever I mean it's what defined the modern DCU as we know it they're pretty much still THOSE versions from Paul Dini. He's the best DC writer ever IMO. Scott Snyder is awesome on Batman too but Dini is the top dawg

I loved Batman Beyond as a kid. I feel like he introduced me to the concept of Legacy characters like Wally West Flash, Miles Morales, etc. Also I'm a suker for a Cyberpunk dystopia.

Characters that can never be replaced as someone else takes their mantles
Ty robinson Legacy characters are just mantles that are taken up by various characters over time so the concept of the hero and their title is still there but the person under the mask is different and bringing their own spin to the mantle. Robin is probably the single most prominent and probably even the first legacy character to have ever existed. It's also the most unique because instead of coming into it as a final stop it's more of a proving ground to graduate from as you find yourself. Anyways yeah legacy characters are great when done properly.

I also love the analytical approach you take to explain each comic. I find it way more enjoyable than just recapping. Sorry comicstorian, I still love you channel!

Rob, in Batman the animated series, did you notice that Kevin Conroy disguises Batman's voice when he's Bruce Wayne.
When he's Batman he uses his real natural voice.
Best noticble when he's out of costume talking to Alfred in the Batcave.
May be a coincidence, I might remember it wrong, but I like the idea that Batman uses his natural voice, since Bruce Wayne is the disguise.
I've seen that show and he sounds the same, as far as I remember.

I'll agree that future's end was a mess, I kind of liked its concept at first. It just seemed to retcon itself alot durings its run using time travel as a vice, even when it didn't make sense. First gotham was completely destroyed, then it was hidden until tim drake came along and inadvertently reveal it. Now gotham was attacked but still saved and bruce was lost during the first conflict which creates a paradox on how terry was sent to the past to warn about brother eye's eventual rise.

rob did a great job with the build up on this. usually I listen to these while doing something else, and without the images I was caught completely off guard about the twist at the end. this was really cool and a lot better than how the joker returned in the cartoon, imo at least
When I was younger, I was getting ready for school and I remember, if you were lucky, you could always catch a glimpse of the morning cartoons. I remember I cheekily wanted to see what was on one morning even though we were running late. Once I had the TV turned on, all I remember seeing where these huge mechanical wheels destroying buildings followed by "too be continued" in white bold writing. I narrowly caught the shows credits to find out what the show was called, just before my mom turned off the TV and hurried me off to school. I remember just being completely dumbstruck. From that short few seconds, I was in awe. It just resonated with me so much, it epitomised everything that I love and I still can't really understand why. It was later that I found out it was the justice league animated show with the episode with the war wheels. The internet then became a thing and I went about watching and rewatching every episode. The whole comic world became open to me and I still to this day can't get enough. I always think, what if my mum had have turned the TV off a fraction earlier and I would have never found out what show I was watching.

I also grew up on those shows and got into comics for the same reasons. This shows were a kids dream come true. That said I love your content Rob but not everything can be the best.

I grew up to batman beyond and Spider-Man unlimited! & I'm not really a super hero fan at all. Batman Beyond is my all time favorite batman.
man... I really liked this show, and was so sad when terry died in futures end and was replaced by tim drake. for months I distanced myself from batman beyond and ignored it in comic book stores.
then i bought it.
and it blew my mind.
terry mcginnis will always be batman beyond, and I am ecstatic that he is back, but dan jurgens' run on tim drake batman beyond is probably the most underrated new 52 title, beating out books like justice league 3000. for those that haven't read the tim drake era as batman, I highly recommend that you do. it is really worth checking out. there are only three volumes so it's not very long, but it is a blast.

Batman Beyond(Terry McGinnis) is one of my favorite DC heroes. I always found Terry to be relatable and thought he was a great Batman. I also grew up with Batman Beyond as well.
Not been a reader since waaaay back.. but do like these videos of whats been happening in the comics.
Don't know if its because I've read so much stuff in the past, and so many genres, or wether perhaps there's a subconcious emphasis placed on the 'J' when you first mentioned the Janitor, but as soon as you mentioned the Janitor, my brain fired a neuron that triggered.. "JOKER".
But even with that anticipation, still enjoyed the synopsis. Thank you

DC didn't need to bring back the Joker. DC is going to write itself into corner, then have to retcon Batman Beyond. The fans want to see new villains for Terry, not just Batman's villains - many who should be dead by now.

Rob about the history of Batman Beyond you have to realize that this version of terry isn't the one from DCAU meaning that this terry is from earth 0(main DC universe) and dcau terry is from earth 12 if I'm correct
