Emerald Empress is a villain from the Legion of Super-Heroes. She is a member of the Fatal Five, extremely powerful and often quite insane. The Eye of Ekron's power is analogous to Green Lantern rings but per pre-New-52 continuity is actually one of the eyes of a being called Ekron. The Eye is sentient and influences/slowly controls the user. Pre-New-52 continuity shows that there were several Emerald Empresses with the Eye abandoning them to find new hosts when the old one died. Saturn Girl is Imra Ardeen, one of the 3 founders of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st century. She is a powerful telepath from a telepathic race of humans from the moon of Titan. They showed her in recent comics in the 21st century. I think it was Supergirl. Her being in the 21st century may be due to the LSH investigating whatever temporal anomaly is going on with Rebirth.
29:11 You skipped one of the most important part of the story, Rob! It's the fact that Killer Frost is dying yet she refuses to kill Max and she'd rather die than going back to her old villanous ways.
Anyone else notice Max Lord's last quote "look on my works ye mighty..." when locked up is a quote also used in 'Watchmen'. Probably not relevant, but still a neat little easter egg, especially considering what it's all leading up to
OMG I'm sooooo happy to get the old Lobo back! none of this new 52 jared-leto-in-space nonsense. He's literally my personal favorite comic book character of all time. You should definitely do his origin, or at the very least do Lobo: The Last Czarnian... just AMAZING (fanboy!)
Gotta love how Max bubble speech at 30:54 is a direct reference to Ozymandias' line "'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!' The lone and level sands stretch far away" except he says "her"
Rob have to say can't continue having a bad day when hearing you call D.C. "Marvel" never fails to lighten the mood and make me laugh. Keep up the great work
Mate want to say thank you for all the great work you do with comics. Someone with dyslexia like myself, you make comic books alot more enjoyable. Really appreciate your awesome channel, thank you.
The only reason Bruce even has a chance of landing a hit on Clark in a fight, is because Clark always let's him, because Clark always holds back. This story proved that. Look at how fast he disposed of Batman when he wasn't holding back. Anyways, this was an interesting story. I always like redemption stories. Can't wait to see how Killer Frost and Lobo are intergrated in the Justice League. Great video!
As far as I know or knew; Emerald Empress was a Legion of Super Heroes villain that somehow got folded into the contemporary DC. Really powerful. Took on the entire Legion lineup singlehanded and nearly beat them. That's all I remember.
I cant see if anyone has answered your question, but heres what I could gather on the Emerald Eye. For 90% of history, the Eye was a vaguely mystical artifact usually drawn to women with some preexisting super abilities, typically low-level mental ones. But, its origin was semi-retconned during 52, where they made Ekron and actual character. Ekron was a Green Lantern given a major power boost by the Guardians because he was going to patrol a particularly dangerous and unexplored portion of space. For some reason, they essentially gave him a giant head shaped ship he could fly around in, but it lost one of its eyes. The Eye was passed through various hands over 1,000 years until it landed in the Empresses hands, making her the Emerald Empress. Since the artifact is 1,000 years old, it would make sense that its origins were lost a long time ago, so thats why no one knows of its connection the the Green Lanterns (plus the corps is usually dead/destroyed in Legion stories, so theres that) As for the Empress, the thing is that Legion continuity changes heavily with every reality changing even in present day DCU. Imagine the butterfly effect multiple by reality itself changing and unfolding over 1,000 years. As a result, all you can get is the gist of the character, and thats all you need to know. Empress is a member of the Fatal Five, the five worst criminals of the Legions era. They consist of her, Mano, Tharok, Persuader, and Validus. They're incredibly powerful, so much that it usually takes a large chunk of the Legion to take them down. As best we can tell, this version of Empress traveled back to the present to find and most likely take-out Saturn Girl. Why Saturn Girl is here, we have no idea.
In 2020, Rocksteady Studios, the developers of the Batman: Arkham series, announced that they were developing a new game centered around the team, titled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser image of the game's logo in the style of a crosshair aimed at Superman. The game was fully unveiled during the online event DC FanDome on August 22, 2020 with a 2024 release date.
Emerald Empress was one that really threw me when I saw her in this. Most of my knowledge of her comes from various Legion of Superheroes comics where she was a pretty serious threat and a member of the Fatal Five team (which made it interesting when she mentioned that she'd need Five to find Saturn Girl). As for it being connected to the Green Lanterns, this was the first I'd ever heard of it having a connection to the Green Lanterns, though it works well enough and the Lantern Core didn't play that much of a role in the Legion timeline, though my knowledge of that sort of thing is a bit vague. Mostly I was just glad to see the Main Man back in action.

i just think its funny that while everybody is just kinda able to move, they got batman's whole body wrapped up in prolly tank metal and he's suspended in the air with his mouth wrapped up. Everybody else might have powers but you can tell who's the most dangerous lol
It was a long time ago. so I may be wrong on this. But.. I am pretty sure that I read a Green Lantern story where Hal Jordan was blinded by a yellow flash of lifght, and used his ring to create a sonar effect, and generated appropriate constructs to win the day . If this is the case, then why couldn't other Lanterns with vision also do the same?
My version of the best suicide squad - Lobo, sabertooth, deathstroke, and wolverine (maybe deadpool lol) because they can practically commit suicide and keep fighting!
Did anyone notice, around 31:00 Max Lord saying "look upon her works ye mighty and despair"? Because that's an indirect reference to Watchmen! In the poem Ozymandias it says somewhere "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings, look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair." How cool is that?

Rob, I want to correct you on something. According to the comic panel, when Waller asks to be protected, the Justice League doesn't laugh. Look at the images.
Emerald Empress is from the 30th century, she is a Legion of Superheroes villain from the 60s. The emerald Eye of Ekron has fluctuated in power to an unbelievable degree over the years, from being able to warp reality to just emitting energy blasts.
Me and my fiance always find your videos so soothing to listen to when we're just chillin' in the living room, or just before sleep I'll put a Rob playlist with a little Comicstorian and Comic Book Girl 19 in there for good measure. Not a Creeper, just a huge fan of your work!

This story is absolutely PERFECT for the Snyderverse Justice League 2, ['Justice League 2: Suicide Squad'] absolutely PERFECT, just replace like one or two characters that are overall inconsequential and have the Suicide Zero team gone down first collecting the Eclipso Gem for their backstory, then wrap it all up with a huge team up battle against Eclipso, and you have what may just be the greatest crossover movie since, I dunno', the Avengers or somethin'
Superman under the red sun radiation gives the appearance of being weak.. Red sun does not make him weak, but removes the effects of his powers given him by t yellow sun radiation. He actually remains stronger than earth humans, owing to the musculature of Kryptonians evolved for being on a planet with a greater surface gravity. So.. maybe something of a trojan horse there too?
Emerald empress is also in the Justice league cartoon TV show from the early 2000s not sure what episode but she's in 2 episodes. I Think she's also in one of the more recent DC animated movies from a year or 2 ago

Hey Rob, might be a little late to the party, but I did some digging around some of the pre-New 52 comics and the DC Wikia and managed to find some info about the Eye of Ekron: The Eye of Ekron (or the EMERALD EYE as it is normally called) first appeared in Adventure Comics #352 (Jan. 1967) in a Legion of Superheroes story arc called THE FATAL FIVE. The thing about the Eye being a part of a Green Lantern thing called Ekron was right, but I can't find anything out about Ekron, aside from the fact that his first 'appearance' was in 52 #20 (Sep. 2006) and he was a cosmic entity involved with the Green Lantern corp and that the Eye was 'made' by the Guardians themselves. It's considered to be one of the most powerful weapons in the Universe (nice screw-up, Guardians -_- ) and is similar to the GL rings, but has very minor construction powers, limited to Force Fields, Flight and Illusion casting. Here's a list of its abilities from the DC WIKIA: Power Distribution Energy Projection Flight Force Field Illusion Casting Self-Sustenance Superhuman Durability Superhuman Strength Keep up the awesome work man :D
And as for the info on Emerald Empress herself? You weren't kidding when you said 'scarce', I think even Metron would have a hard time finding the info :/ Here's some of the stuff I scrounged up: - She debuted in Adventure Comics #352 (Jan. 1967). - Was created by Jim Shooter and Curt Swan. - Has had over 5-6 mainstream appearances but fairly fleeting (excluding some Elseworld ones...) - Almost always appeared as an enemy of the Legion of Superheroes in the 30th Century. - She, Mano, the Persuader, Validus and Tharok make up the Fatal Five. Here's her different incarnations: 1st: Sarya - This was the original 1967 incarnation, where she was simply known as 'The Empress' and was born on the planet of Venegar In this story (according to the DC WIKIA) she was recruited by Superboy to help the Legion of Superheroes kill some guy called the Sun Eater (some Pre-Crisis universal entity) and succeeded. But despite that, she quickly ended up joining the Fatal Five. 2nd: Cera Kesh - She was the Second Empress and debuted in Legionnaires #2 (May 1993) Cera Kesh was born with minor telepathic abilities, but was very sensitive about her obesity and for unknown reasons, was rejected from joining the Legion of Super Heroes. She later found the Emerald Eye and renamed herself 'Emerald Empress'. 3rd: Ingria Olav - She was the third Emerald Empress, but had such a brief tenure, she could give Stephanie Brown's Robin a run for her money. While Cera Kesh was still the Emerald Empress, Ingrid's boyfriend Leland McCauley IV (one of the galaxy's richest men) discovered a second Emerald Eye and used it to make Ingrid the next Empress. Unfortunately, Ingrid was severely unskilled at being able to manage the Eye and was killed by Cera with almost no effort. She was killed in Legionnaires #6 (September 1993), not even four issues after gaining the Eye. 4th: Empress (Real Name Unknown) - This was a very fleeting incarnation of the Emerald Empress, who was only known as 'Empress' and didn't even have the Eye at all. She appeared in Legion of Super-Heroes Vol 4 #78 (March 1996) and was mainly just a psychopathic villain that loved killing and nothing much else. 5th: Salu Digby - The most in depth adaption of Emeral Empress that first appeared in Legion of Super-Heroes Vol 4 #66 (March, 1995) but didn't become Emerald Empress until later, when fellow Legion member Gim Allen AKA Leviathan was killed, causing her to be consumed by the Emerald Eye and dubbing her 'Emerald Violet'. She tried and failed to possess her team mates on a rampage, which led to her being defeated and stranded in the 20th Century, before she told the Eye to leave and be free. 6th: Falyce - This is the most recent Emerald Empress (and the one in that seems to be in this story arc), making her first appearance in Legion of Super-Heroes (Annual) Vol 6 #1 (Feb. 2011). This iteration was a woman who was fleeing from planet Orando and someone known as The Duke, who had taken out one of her eyes and abused her. She stumbled upon the eye, built a symbiotic relationship with it, incinerated Duke with it and rebuilt Orando in her own image, even going so far as to command the eye to make her resemble Orando's absentee queen (ergo, the form you see in JL VS SS is NOT her true form). She MAY have made an appearance in Supergirl Rebirth and attacked Kara and Superman because of something the former did in the future, I'm not sure. That enough info for you, Rob? Hahaha Thanks if you made it this far :D

i just think its funny that while everybody is just kinda able to move, they got batman's whole body wrapped up in prolly tank metal and he's suspended in the air with his mouth wrapped up.
Everybody else might have powers but you can tell who's the most dangerous lol
It's amazing how good this storyline is compared to the solo books.
Not sure if you will ever read this Rob but you have a great voice for telling stories and I love the channel. You should do audiobooks.
Keep it up Rob you're awesome!!!!
That was great Rob!
Yay second video of the day!!
This seems pretty cool. Good work, Geoff Johns! Atta boy!
Joshua Williamson wrote this
Oh my god. Lobo. Member of the Justice League. YES!
Lobo,KIller Frost,Black Canary,The Ray,Vixen,Atom and Captain Atom are the new justice league of america which is basically a justice league filled with anti-heroes.
matt ventura isn't batman leading them this time
Khalid Abdirisaq Not sure hasn't been confirmed yet but the first issue's coming out in february so we'll see.
I loved when early Rebirth Superman would come in with his Pre 52 knowledge cheats. It made me feel like I was in the Justice League.
as Morrison's Batman said:
"Victory's in the preparation"
We all make mistakes Big Rob great video homie
been waiting for a detailed explanation on how wolverine regained adamantium again
"Justice League are some of the most people in the Marvel universe"- comic explained
Yes i know im very late
Flash on a surface of zero friction...
Still an atmosphere or else he suffocates.
Hold up hands.. palms vertical.. then give a superfast push... Reaction with the aire gives him a backwards impetus. as he touches the surface behind him... he vibrates himself through it, until he emerges the other side,
Voila.,. he's escaped.
I was thinking that.
But the one constant in comics is how inconsistent they are.
Emerald Empress... Didn't I see the Legionaries fight her in the 30th century?
ZarPof Yes, she's come back to the past looking for someone, if I remember correctly.
love the videos rob long time fan....
but if you need it take a break dude. You've been pushing these out fast (which is great) but I think we'd understand
Love it Love it. Is there more?
awesome vid to a awesome crossover dc is killing it!!!! P.s do more vs vids
The game was fully unveiled during the online event DC FanDome on August 22, 2020 with a 2023 release date.
Hah! as 24:28, Maxwell Lord takes a node from Ozymandias from the Watchmen, saying when he shouts "I DID IT!"
GREAT JOB. I'm a video producer my self, and I know how much work 30+ Minutes takes to create, especially the editing.
Bloodshot reborn is awesome rob
9:03 "The justice league are comprised of the most powerful members of the marvel universe"
😂
hey rob your stuff is awsome keep it up i got 2 request for you
1 can you do superman godfall if you havent already
2 can you go back to saying "... cut a swoft..."
please and thank you
rob you should've added info in this video from suicide squad #10 when waler's kids told her to stay away from them that was an awesome scene
Rob, I want to correct you on something. According to the comic panel, when Waller asks to be protected, the Justice League doesn't laugh. Look at the images.
Maxwell ain't slick with that Ozymandias hint towards the end of the video, "Look upon her work he mighty, and despair"
I love these long videos I get so into it
Ah, The Enchantress whose magic power is Dance enchantment.
Emerald Empress is from the 30th century, she is a Legion of Superheroes villain from the 60s. The emerald Eye of Ekron has fluctuated in power to an unbelievable degree over the years, from being able to warp reality to just emitting energy blasts.
Doing Comicstorian dirty lol
I love how Supes just swatted away Bats, even with the Kryptonite. He was like: "What do you think this is bitch, a Snyder movie?"
Me and my fiance always find your videos so soothing to listen to when we're just chillin' in the living room, or just before sleep I'll put a Rob playlist with a little Comicstorian and Comic Book Girl 19 in there for good measure. Not a Creeper, just a huge fan of your work!
actually I believe Emerald empress got her start in Legion of Superheroes is one of the Fatal Five but we're talking a couple decades before I was born so I can't be a hundred percent certain
The most popular group of superheroes vs the most popular group of Anti-Heroes. Somehow, you just HAD to know that this was coming, right?
Absolute madlad music in the background.
this is one of the best crossover event

This story is absolutely PERFECT for the Snyderverse Justice League 2, ['Justice League 2: Suicide Squad'] absolutely PERFECT, just replace like one or two characters that are overall inconsequential and have the Suicide Zero team gone down first collecting the Eclipso Gem for their backstory, then wrap it all up with a huge team up battle against Eclipso, and you have what may just be the greatest crossover movie since, I dunno', the Avengers or somethin'
Great video
love the relationship between wonder woman and harley quinn and please cover a force
Some of these make me want a video about Superman versus Doctor Strange.
At 31:05 Maxwell lord quotes the Ozymandias poem.
Dang max is reciting the poem Ozymandias at 31:00
i just love how you seem to do the same videos comicstorian does only a day later
I loved this crossover. It was amazing.
Luis Cales it's not a crossover everyone is DC here

Hey Rob, might be a little late to the party, but I did some digging around some of the pre-New 52 comics and the DC Wikia and managed to find some info about the Eye of Ekron:
The Eye of Ekron (or the EMERALD EYE as it is normally called) first appeared in Adventure Comics #352 (Jan.
Here's a list of its abilities from the DC WIKIA:
Power Distribution
Energy Projection
Flight
Force Field
Illusion Casting
Self-Sustenance
Superhuman Durability
Superhuman Strength
Keep up the awesome work man :D
And as for the info on Emerald Empress herself? You weren't kidding when you said 'scarce', I think even Metron would have a hard time finding the info :/ Here's some of the stuff I scrounged up:
- She debuted in Adventure Comics #352 (Jan. 1967).
- Was created by Jim Shooter and Curt Swan.
- Has had over 5-6 mainstream appearances but fairly fleeting (excluding some Elseworld ones...)
- Almost always appeared as an enemy of the Legion of Superheroes in the 30th Century.
- She, Mano, the Persuader, Validus and Tharok make up the Fatal Five.
Here's her different incarnations:
1st: Sarya - This was the original 1967 incarnation, where she was simply known as 'The Empress' and was born on the planet of Venegar In this story (according to the DC WIKIA) she was recruited by Superboy to help the Legion of Superheroes kill some guy called the Sun Eater (some Pre-Crisis universal entity) and succeeded.
But despite that, she quickly ended up joining the Fatal Five.
2nd: Cera Kesh - She was the Second Empress and debuted in Legionnaires #2 (May 1993)
Cera Kesh was born with minor telepathic abilities, but was very sensitive about her obesity and for unknown reasons, was rejected from joining the Legion of Super Heroes.
