Also as somebody who's watched both I love the new series but there's merit to watching both! They skip some stuff from the original series [mostly episode 6 or whichever one is the video game episode] and a particular bedtime story that's absent from the main series, other than that I think the Netflix series does a really good job of adapting and expanding on the original!
For your question of "Is there cut content?" the answer is "yes, but also no". The first three episodes of the Netflix series offer a summary of the Pilot, YT series, and Comics with some alternate events that are more in the context of Lazy in Space. I'm glad to see all y'all's reaction to the show. That weird energy to the show is because Natasha Allegri is a veteran of Adventure Time. Puppycat is voiced by a Vocaloid named Oliver and has always had captions.
The first three episodes of the Netflix version basically cover season 1 of the RUclips series - with some additional material and rewrites. 4-16 are the new "Season 2" episodes.
I love this show so much! Binged it in a day. It's so abstract but so lofi chill too. Loved the original RUclips release from years ago, but I love the Netflix version just as much. I hope you keep going with this series.
My first exposure to this show was this Netflix version, and it was immediately special for me. I first watched it like a few days ago, and I’ve already watched it twice.
Yep, the first three were remakes to fill in the story since they weren’t going to put any of season 1 up on Netflix. They matched the season two art style, but were a bit of a rush job. The animation is lower quality and the voice acting isn’t as good, but the episodes are a charming addition that really add to the story.
According to Netflix season 2 of dead end is coming next month I think it was October 13. Also their was a RUclips channel that showed the difference it was nice.
Absolutely keep reviewing this I'd love to see it!! Also episodes 1-3 is a soft reboot of the first season that from what I've heard was made in 2021 while the REST of the show is season 2 which was made back in 2019 which is why Cardamon sounds so weird in the beginning but then sounds like a child later in the series. Season 2 was originally leaked and so the timeline on how this all was released is really weird
Interesting to see you guys reacting to this!! I had never seen the original and learned about this versio through the Netflix trailer. It definitely has an interesting type of humor and the way the story is told. Watched the entire thing!! Totally worth it!!
I’m fan of both the original and Netflix series, I can strongly say that the Netflix is a lot more airtight with the plot of show, and it does a good job building intrigue as for all the questions they answer, brings up more interesting questions .
there are strenghts and differences in both of the versions, so far i have only watched the first season of both, and had a blast watching them both im definitely glad that the netflix release opened this show to wider audiences though i think everyone should see the original youtube version at some point, especially if they enjoyed this
okay weird question, but can one volunteer to write the subtitles for videos? like theoretically? subtitles make things so much more inclusive and mindlessly writing down stuff is very relaxing haha
[Alec]: Really appreciate the offer! Unfortunately, RUclips doesn't make it super simple to incorporate someone else's writing, even if you did. I wish we had the bandwidth to do more manual subtitles on our own, but hopefully in the future! Would be much easier RUclips still had the community captions thing.
@@JesterBrosCartoonTheater Yeah I remember the community captions, that's why I asked! Sad to hear they make it that difficult to make videos more accessible Thanks for the reply though
So basically the show originally came out on RUclips as you know but just 10 episodes there was going to be a sesson two coming out called "lazy in space" but since it didn't and people (not the creators) where saying that it will come out on Netflix that season two got leaked and some ppl (including myself) watched that version of season two. What we see on Netflix is a compilation of the Og session one on RUclips, "Lazy and space" and brand new content
I enjoyed the netflix remake, but I did like the original season 1 (and pilot) more. I think since they are so short, that after you'd done watching the netflix series you could easily do an episode on the youtube episodes. I'm pretty sure that the jokes that aren't in the netflix one, Lucas will appreciate. Seriously I love the vibe of this series.
I watched both and I would definitely recommend watching the RUclips version first (or later, but do watch it (?)). Netflix's adaptation is great, but it skips some very memorable moments from the original and the pay-off of a certain moment isn't as big (at least for me). Still, excited to see more of Bee and Puppycat on this channel!
Great reaction! I haven't seen the new version of the first season, and I have to say, I am surprised by how much they straight up revealed that was only teased in the previous version until the season finale!
@@volvulusx5043 I was talking more about Puppycat, it has been a while so maybe I am miss-remembering but the way that I remember it is that the prince confirmation was only in the finale...
@@maxdon2001 it was implied heavily in the original version in the pilot, where his reflection shows the outlaw in the window. I dont recall it coming up at any other time in the original series. Here they just made it un-mistakable rather than something subtle, which I think was the right move to make new viewers have something to grasp on to without fail.
It's a continuation. The first episode's a prequel, but the next two are basically a... recap? Montage? Of everything that happened in the original series. Of course, adventures that were entire episodes are shown as little cool things in a montage, but if you wanna see that adventure, go watch the original. It was a good way to establish where we were are/where we were going in the timeline, tbh. Everything past... uh... donut world... is completely new.
i watched them both the RUclips and the Netflix. I prefer the You tube one more and think you should compare personally, but you do you. love your reactions keep it up.
Puppycat DGAF. 😂 The vibe I get off this show reminds me of watching Galaxy Express 999 at 2am on public broadcasting. Like it was dark, and I’d be all cozy in a blanket, watching this anime kid wander all over weird ass universes (before anime was mainstream and was still hard to find). This show is much cuter of course, but that’s the feeling I get watching it. Like, I understand nothing that is going on, but man I’m having a good time.
Omg I remember discovering Bee and Puppycat years ago, the way they make the stronger serious plot the sub plot or a background element in each episode is so interesting. I will say that the beginning is very different from the original, and over all it does feel different but it has been a long time since I last watched the original. I do know that things were a little less silly in the original and some characters were a bit different personality wise, but I still enjoy watching it while wrapped up in a blanket. Either way I hope you guys will react to the whole series.
the first 3 episodes are remakes of the original run of the series! basically recapping the whole first season that aired on frederator before going to Netflix, after the 3 first episodes it's all "season 2" content
This is absolutely an Iceberg Show where you think it starts simple and just has a massive crapload of stuff going on below the surface. I have been following this show from day 1 and can say they've honestly changed very little and actually added much more to it while also revamping the animation.
One joke I miss from the youtube version was how the baby was like “my mom’s been gone forever!” And puppycat is just like “it’s been 5 minutes. It’s going to be another 10.”
I just watched the first few episodes of that show with my cousin like a week ago after we finished season 2 of cuphead! It was very ...interesting😅 but we enjoyed it
for future reactions for this specific show could the bottom part of the netflix screen be boosted to show the subtitles? like just a rectangle at the bottom to zoom in so we know what puppycat is saying cause he gets really funny sometimes
I personally love both versions. I recommend to others to watch the original first cuz there are some iconic lines and i think the pacing for certain bits are better. But i think watching it after the netflix version will be good to if u do that. Essentially for the netflix version, the first three episodes are a redo of the original series and the rest is new stuff. To me the pacing feels like how a dream's pacing works, I enjoy that dream quality a lot, tho idk if that was intentional or not.
I absolutely love the show. I think the original is a little better overall but the reboot is also really good and does some things better, arguably. It only covers episodes 1-3, the rest are what would be considered to be taking place after the original ends. It was super enjoyable to watch your reactions though, so i'm definitely hoping for a follow up vid!
please please watch the whole season! the first 3-4 episodes basically recap the first season but after that youre off the rails. the best thing i can say, really the only thing, is that this show is an experience.
I watched the original and the newest one but I was taken aback by the reset as I miss some of the humor and lore from the original but im just happy they made thier mark
first three episodes are a recap of the original youtube pilot and season 1, both of which are still available to watch on the cartoon hangover channel, after which the leaked but previously unreleased second season plays out unchanged. imo the original episodes are the better introduction, but the recap episodes are still good. they have some issues - the pacing suffers a bit from fitting in all the necessary plot beats, they leave out some good jokes & scenes, the foreshadowing is way less subtle wich makes some reveals not land as well, & the voice acting can feel a bit off since the actors have been away from the characters, and one was a little kid who got older, so wacha gonna do. All that said, the recap episodes are still good and do have strong points - the animation's a bit more consistent, they fix some retroactive continuity errors, drop or shorten some segments that dragged a bit & gags that didn't land, and include some nice new details & scenes - including one I really loved from the tragically short lived comic book series. So even if i think the original episodes are the better introduction, and definitely still worth going back to later, you should still have a great experience diving straight into the netflix release.
I can't tell if the pacing makes this intriguing or stressful? at least in this first episode. there is so many jumps and cuts between different people and scenes and even styles altogether?? If they make it work, that's amazing! but if they don't make it exciting enough, they will lose people's attention QUICK. Also I definitely prefer cats to dogs! Both are super cute, but my personality and energy match better with cats
[Alec]: I had my eye on it, but the timing is rough and it might be a little bit intense for our normal vibe. Still interested in checking it out though! Also we don't have an official Patreon (yet) but we do have RUclips Members which is almost the same thing! You can become a Member on any video and get some perks including early release videos and access to our internal planning spreadsheet!
the original also had some verry off scenes. to me the most impactful change is that the Netflix is way less subtle in the plot lines, like for example puppycat being the "space outlaw", here is praticaly spelled out in the original you could make arguments to the contrary.(other non spoiler example is Kas wrestler career). i pride myself in being very perceptive to subtext but took me entire 6 episodes to even get a hint that this series had one,(actually curious subtext lines overarcing the narrative)
After watching both of "Bee and Puppycat" on Netflix and RUclips. I have to say I liked the original run from 2014 better. It has a more natural feel if you know what I mean. The new version is more polished, but that means it cut out some of the rough edges that gave it a more distinct personality. Most of all I don't like what they did with Bee. Which is strange because they didn't change her. She acts the same as before, and I like her character a lot, but they altered the context around her. I don't want to spoil anything but I hope you watch the original version for yourselves.
So as somebody who watched both, the netflix one has ... an off vibe about it. the original definitely had a different energy, I quite liked the netflix one but it felt a bit void of life.
