Here is my opinion on lip syncing:
There is 3 reasons why an artist would lip sync.
1) To preserve their vocals. Doing a tour and singing every night can damage your voice so you need to take a rest.
2) They are focusing more on the performance than the vocals. An upbeat pop song is going to have some fast difficult choreo. It's hard to sound decent while dancing and singing at the same time.
3) They just can't sing...They can't sound like they do on their studio version so they have to fake it to save them self from embarrassment.
I think reason 1 and 2 are totally fine. But not 3. If you need autotune and lip syncing to sound good, DON'T CHOOSE SINGING AS YOUR PROFESSION.
Also I don't think its acceptable when a singer lip syncs an ENTIRE set. No matter what the reason is. Lip a few songs or a few high notes, okay fine. But MAJORITY of the songs should be live. Fans are paying to see you sing, not have playback the whole concert.

Oh babe you should listen to some good old rock songs, They perform for like hours and hours and they're still legends, there's no point for preserving the vocals if you're not gonna use it. The main reason pop singers won't sing live is because if they do they'll get caught to the auto tune, There's a reason why we call rock stars "RockStars" cuz they're the real stars who can sing.

This is such a scam of a concert, they basically paid just to hear someone playing the song on an aux cord.
Well, yeah, but the entire backing track is fabricated, too. He has no band - most of the music was created on a computer in the first place. What's the difference if he's singing live? If you want an actual artist playing actual live music, you're going to have to look somewhere other than pop or hip hop. Everyone know that.

Wonder why...Yet apparently only Justin lip-syncs. When you see pop artist like Beyonce and Justin Bieber, the visual show with the choreography and on-stage acting is the biggest element of the whole performance so lip-syncing is to be expected. My favourite band is Rammstein, and ignoring the pyro those guys mainly just stand on stage and play; there's no dancing or anything like that. But even the singer has to use a track at certain points in some songs because his vocal cords won't be able to consistently handle certain notes day after day, after hours of demanding vocal performances.

I noticed it the first time NKOTB went on tour to the release of Hangin Tough and have seen many artists do it since. I definitely don't think anyone does it the entire show, can you imagine with the performances of some of these artists!? I do wonder about Britney, but amazing show regardless! I have noticed more recently that they are just singing with their tracts so you basically hear both. ✌

well i love justin, but its harder to search for his live performances, that weren't lipped. its okay , he isnt making any secret of it but when I paid 100$ to see him live in concert at purpose tour it just felt like listening to the tracks on the album while he is ,,present" on stage. I was there in Vienna and the playback failed at as long as you love me, you could see him getting a little anoyed that he now had to sing it live...

Im not a belieber but we need to realize that getting such a huge empire at such young age is not a cup of tea and he is performing in front of thousands of his fans and he is too afraid of letting them down or becoming a joke or a part of controversy (as he has been since forever) so he is afraid to sing on his own and making any mistakes, so he is lip syncing.

Yeah disappointing. I was at a Purpose tour concert and the best part was the acoustic songs which I think he actually sang. The rest was lip sync. Don't need to go again. We come to see and hear you sing, not do silly dance moves. Your dancers are for that. It's unfortunate. But many fans just want to pay to see these artists.

At least most of the time, Justin makes it very obvious that he's lip syncing. Which is a good thing because you're being honest to your fans rather than making it hard to tell if he's singing live or using playback. Justin usually made it obvious during The My World Tour and The Purpose Tour!!!!

I understand why artists lipsync sometimes but during tour is not it. People PAY loads of money to see you SING and perform so give people what they paid for. There's no excuse for it. There are people like BTS with the heavy choreo and they don't lipsync at concerts (might have a few times if they need to rest their voice. But even then, they use pre recorded vocals, not the damn studio version) (and I'm not saying they've never lipsynced, I'm talking about concerts specifically) and Beyonce probably has a few times but not so often. You pay to see artists sing, not lipsync so if you wanna pay them to do that then you go ahead and waste money...
