The second attempt took about 11 hours total to build.
The first attempt failed, when I dropped a screw from the camera rig onto it. I was able to improve the swirling clouds better in the second attempt as a result though. I do not know how long the first attempt took, but I did not have any accidents building like I did in the second attempt!
There were 2 small breaks in the fall of this project. I did not complete the leading grey line and left out a domino which stopped the reaction in the bottom. The star that is left standing was very close to falling, but the first dominos held in place :(
Have you seen my Domona Lisa I made in 2007?
• Domona Lisa - The Mona...
UPDATE: I counted the dominos, and there were 7067 used.

Far more interesting than the normal domino pictures where everything is lined up in rows and it all falls down from left to right. *Way to go!*
*how do you not rage when you fail*
lol dude this is art man, in fact this is much more time consuming than some modern art so think before you speak troll
Wait... WHAT
Didn’t expect to see a 7 year-old comment from you, Phly!
1:49 *throws Dominoe* you saw nothing.
😂
I like how you just fucking threw a domino at that last bit
FlippyCat You rock :) Also, the throwing of the domino to knock down that last little bit had me dyin with laughter.
Rewatched this for the first time in quite a while and wow, its charm is still there! It's weird to think that this video is over a decade old because it still really holds up with its creativity! Very well done FlippyCat, as always :)
This is pretty freakin stellar
I admire you for your patience, FlippyCat. Please share some with me. :)
1:50 LOL
I'm sure people say this all the time but you must have the patience of a saint! You're also incredibly artistic. Awesome job :)
I'm a huge van Gogh fan, and this is a wonderful tribute. Well done!!
this is a domino art!!
oh,oh.....do it in reverse.......
Everyone talks about how awesome this layout is, but did anyone give any thought to how much patience a project like this must take? I would have given up after about an hour, tops. For that, Flippycat, I admire you.
Man, who knew people like flippy cat would take dominoes to this awesome level?
vincent van dominogh xD
This is really gorgeous. The way the lines swirl in the original painting makes it an excellent subject for a domino fall, and the way you used the empty space to let the taller structures scatter was a great way to invoke the impressionist style.
This was absolutely amazing. I drew and painted this artwork when I was in grade four for a visual art project pretty well for a fourth grader, but this, takes skill and patience. Astounding work!
I bow at your patience and energy to do this!
This was absolutely amazing and lovely friend
dominoes are such a weird art form and is just so satisfying to watch
I have shown this video to all my elementary art classes this week, they are mesmerized! The little ones wonder how you can move so fast... the older ones can't believe you did not stop to eat or go to the bathroom. :) It is an outstanding video, VERY well done!!! Thank you for inspiring 550 5-11 year old kids!
Man...after watching that "fail" clip at the end...you should be sainted for your patience. If that was me I would probably spend the next 12 hours just crying.
Captivating! This is my favourite so far. Mesmerizing
This type of art was made by Vincent Van Gogh who was a dutch painter, sadly as of July 29 1890 he had passed away.
Rest in Peace, Vincent Van Gogh 😔
(March 30 1853 - July 29 1890)
OH MAN!!! The work an patience... That went into that. Flippy never fails to simply impress. Thanks Flippy for sharing another great pice of domino art.
Quite possibly the most impressive one I've seen you do. It unfolds so beautifully. Well done, mate, well done.
This is the most amazing thing I've seen Flippy do
That was kinda freakin' beautiful. This medium gave it the perfect sorta motion that the original painting implied.
I like seeing recreations of art and other images using different formats and mediums. Dominoes are great and this is certainly no exception. The swirly style of Van Gogh applies nicely as they all fall in snaking patterns. It looks like this was a tough one trying to be very accurate along with some mistakes happening during the long build, but it comes out to be superb. Great addition to the huge line of domino constructions, this time with art.
This is the best thing I have seen in my entire life
Amazing.
Fantastic.
Incredible.
Phenomenal.
Extraordinary.
Take the beginning letter from every word and it becomes 'Afipe'.Thanks,I just found a great way to stop saying how great she is.

… In the most AWESOME way possible!
Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
Wow, your best domino sculpture yet!
This is awesome! I'm saving this video to show to my elementary art students next school year- totally rad video!
That was cool! I liked the domino toss to knock down the tower, made me smile!

This is really amazing! I cringed EVERYTIME they would collapse when you were assembling them!
I always love these domino vids and can only imagine how much work went into them!

You're an absolute psychopath FlippyCat, the perfect man for LoTR!
Does anyone else watch videos like this and think, "Art Attack was brilliant, wasn't it?" or is that just me?
Kudos and bluebells to you for this, colour me impressed...
Van gogh is my favorite artist, this was amazing, thank you for this video.
Great dedication man! I am in awe..
I've always loved expressionism, and this is one of my personal favorites. I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw it, and it never left until after the video.
I applaud your domino art but even more... Your patience is AMAZING!
I love how you never give up.
I saw this before it was on Yahoo. Congrats on getting there, FlippyCat!
The perspective is adjusted on it too, so that angle is a bit strange looking.
You have a lot of spare time. this is amazing!
congrats flippycat you made it on the news!
Hooooly crap. That takes disciple and a hell of a ton of patience. SUPER IMPRESSED.
Love how he shows the flaws and the failed attempts. I have more respect for him because of it.
Wow. I don't know how anyone has the patience or skills to do this, but it is incredible. I'm jealous...
Saw this painting twice, once last Friday. Looks amazing! Great job!
Brilliant! I wish I had anywhere near the patience you have to do these. Made sure to sub so I can watch your others and any new ones you do.
Love your work. Feel bad for the people who can't appreciate your work. It's because they can't understand. This is great.
Oops, messed up on last post. You not only show the process, but the cleanup and your lovely cat as well. Thank you!
I think this is the greatest domino video on youtube. I is both an artistic, creative interpretation and awesome to watch. Great work.
flippy ... a usual a great one ... awesome ... my fave subscription on youtube :)
Damn, you're so good at doing this domino building thingy thing
WOW! Now thats a true artist! GREAT JOB!
Simply stunning! The amazing talent some people have! Thank you so much for your work(s) of art!
Wow, lot of time, and a very steady hand, and all that time you put into it, i wanted it to have a feeling when you hit the first domino when it was done, but to tell you the truth the first thing i thought of when it was done, was my walk in the woods today and the leaf that feel in slow motion with the sun shining and the warm wind and the 3 hawks that flew above me and made a call.. that moved me and it was 'four seconds', just reflecting on my day. Great Job (with your Mind/Body)
Great job! Beautiful and unique way to experience one of my favourite paintings!
your amount of patience is amazing. great job pure art!
This is so freakin' awesome!
Fascinating! I love how you seem to be even more meticulous with the freehand placement than the ruled.
Amazing work!
This is great. Excellent, keep it up. thanks for this amazing work
It reminds me of "V For Vendetta" only those were professional layers and we didn't get to see this AWESOME video of them all being built! What a work of art! How exciting. I got a kick out of the clean up portion at the end.
Very creative! Reminds me of the sand drawings of the monks, who spend all that time making the pictures, only to destroy them when they're done.
Awesome video, I like the whole fast motion process with the clock, and off course, your work!
This is absolutely beautiful! Thank you!
Woop woop! I saw you on CNN!!! WAY TO GO MAN! That's awesome! I've been watching since the early days. Love it.
