- This video is about the fish aggression in my 75 gallon reef tank. All the fish get along great but recently the fire fish have started to kill each other by forcing them out of the tank.

Yo your tank is sick!!!!
Thank you 👍👍👍
Merci pour ta vidéo BILLY !!! 👍👍👍
Thanks man
I totally feel you man! I have the worst luck when it comes to acquiring fish with an a**hole personality dispite everyone else in the whole world telling me that a fish is peaceful and not aggressive at all. Both in my freshwater and saltwater systems! I even have a jerk koi fish that bullys anything I add to his pond till he kills it, even fish that are far bigger than he is. In my freshwater planted tank it is a male clown killie fish and in my reef it is a purple fire fish. He chases my Picasso clown even
These fish can be total a-holes for sure lol
What a beautiful tank! Can we get a update!!??
Thanks, there are updates on my channel 👍👍
It’s going to be hard to catch that firefish
Its impossible
Thanks so much for doing this video Billy, we're currently restocking our 125 as slowly as quarantining and finances allow and were considering getting some fire fish eventually, we have never had them before and hadn't fully researched them as yet, after seeing this I think we'll give them a miss.
👍👍👍
Firefish harem only as juveniles, they become quite territorial of other firefish once they pair up with maturity. I'd put the loner in an acclimation box with a pvc hide until the final pair emerges, at which point you may get lucky enough to get another pair established with whomever else gets forced out, though I wouldn't really bank on that happening either.
Yeah, i gotta catch this guy asap
Ugh. Fish aggression. Makes you BP go up watching it. Good luck getting that guy out. I was talking to my screen saying “get the net Billy! Get the neeeet!!”
Lol im using a trap as we speak🤞🤞
I always thought that my fishes fight because of that my tank is too small(20g). Helpful video!
Thanks, glad it helped 👍
Your tank is Gorgeous... Im working on a 72g Bowfront.... A lot to learn
Thank you, and yeah im learning new things everyday still lol
Probably, out of my price, but do you mind my asking what type of lights do you use?
What a fun vid! Uh, at your expense I suppose. lol. Could you use a clear plastic tube, open at both ends, maybe like 2" in diameter, and hold your hand over the end. Lower the other end down near the murderers - and remove hand from end. Seems like with a 'thoop' little mister murderer will instantly get sucked into the tube. Kinda like into the mouth of a lion fish. Hmmm...
These suckers are impossible to catch. They dart in the rocks and i dont find em til later
Good luck catching him buddy. I need to do the same screening to the back of my tank .
Thanks man, hes impossible to catch so far
I have definitely noticed my fire fish doing the same thing. You can always tell the one that's getting picked on because hes missing that top fin. I think any more than 3 you will the aggression
I agree. 3 or seems to be ok in most systems
Hi Billy, I hope you can get him out :( - he looks very upset. I have read that weaker individuals can be harassed to the point of death by one or two dominant fish. I had the same issue with my green viridis chromis. Two of them picked on the third, it was very upsetting to watch, the little bullied fish was so scared that he allowed me to lift him out of the tank with the palm of my hand. When i put him in another tank it was like nothing had happened :) - great video documenting this behaviour, you clearly love your tank and all of its inhabitants :)
Thanks. Im trying to catch him as we speak👍👍
Add a screen top
I have a canopy with all 4 sides already closed
i would trade that guy in
Lol he's outta there
I hate the fact we spend money on them, and some turns out to be jerks , like dude I would flush your a** 🤦🏾♂️
Beautiful tank, how many fish ya got in that bad boy ?
At the time of this video about 11
@@BillyPipes awesome beautiful tank for that amount of fish !
Couple questions , is your 75 drilled or you have a HOB overflow ??
Did you ever catch the fire fish from your ich outbreak ?? If so what trap did you use??
I watch a lot of you tube videos and man your tank are just like mine ?
I have a 75 also and a nano with nems rainbows also , just sayin lol
Look forward to your responses
This is a deep blue non tempered that i drilled. I never caught the firefish, i just put kent garlic in the food everyday and they're still all alive and ich free👍👍
@billy pipes... sucks to see that the fish is stressing out.. but the sweet spot for firefish is 6! I was going thru the same issue as I had 5. They killed off one then the tank was divided with 4 I had, which I really found to be odd as they became pairs.. the one pair of the firefish were trying to kill off the smaller pairs mate.. I got lucky to catch the smaller firefish that was being bullied, then the pair was trying to kill off the single one left in the tank. Best is to pull the one getting beat up and put him in the sump or the DNT tank. In the next few days you’ll see the pair that is bullying try to kill off the one left behind. Gonna have to either put 2 more in asap... to suppress the aggression..or pull those two out.. good luck!!
Thanks, great advice👍👍
Unfortunately, this happens without fail with firefish after a few months. With the exception of mated pairs, they live solitary in the ocean.
I think the 2 have paired up now
Thug life tank . You have to fight to survive.
Definitely strongest survive👍
Can only be kept in mated pair I’ve always been told. So unless a large tank 2 max
Yeah thats what research says but ive seen other tanks with schools of them and no issues. I guess either they're lucky or we're all unlucky🤷♂️
Did you add them all to the tank at the same time?
Yes. And they're getting along great now 👍
@@BillyPipes that's good to hear
It’s pretty well known fire fish don’t get along, shoulda done your research
I saw it said that while researching, but two people i know and have seen their tanks in person have great success with keeping multiple fire fish. One tank is a 90 gallon and has 4 firefish for over 2 years with no issues and the other tank is a 125 gallon and has had the same 7 fire fish for almost 3 years with no issues. I tend to do my research in person then read it online.
You dont have a net?
I have multiple nets. They hide as soon as they see it. Catching fire fish with a net is impossible with my rock work
Why don’t you either try to add one or two more firefish or try to trap the one that’s being picked on & rehome him? The tank looks very nice and you have a lot of swim throughs for the fish. 👍
Im gonna definitely try to catch him and rehome him before he gets beat up to badly
Try putting a mirror on the right side. Maybe that might make the other fish focus on that instead of the lonely fire fish.
Good idea👍👍
Some LFS will rent a fish trap to you. I invested in one. Only used it once but if I need it again I will have it.
Picked one up from my lfs yesterday, been trying to carch him🤞
Who is recommending a school of fire fish? This is typical behavior for them.
I have 2 local buddies that have schools of fire fish for years. They have no issues👍
Put it in the nano!
If i can catch them thats definitely were they'll be 👍
Same thing happened with my Fire Fish. I started with a Trio and two ganged up on one until they finally killed it. Shortly after my Kole tang started picking on the 2 remaining firefish till they died. Karma I guess. LOL
Lol, karma is always happening,,thats what they get
I had the same issue with 1 male and 3 female anthias. the male chased out all 3 females
Damn, its crazy how they do that
Poor thing 😢
Im tryin to get him out asap🤞
I had the same issue with my firefish when I had more than 2. They are assholes lol
Lol they seem to be
😀
😀😀
Running a tank without a cover, lid ,net top is just stupid and you deserve to lose fish
Lol watch the video closer and listen a little better too👍
They ought not be bullying him like'at. He's just a boy...mmmhmm
I agree
Some serious fire fish hate going on in there😂🤣
Its crazy in there
Firefish look angelic but they are little devils... I lost all my firefish for same issues... never again will I own any.
Yeah, a few of my buddies have had great luck but looks like mine are starting the elimination process
Lol, mob mentality.
Straight outta compton
