- The firefish is one of the best fish to have in your reef tank because it is so peaceful and won't mess anything up. He might dig a hole or two but nothing like diamond gobies. 2:00 Thank you so much for this! Just got mine and he was really active at first, but then hid himself away! I was doing everything like reducing my lights, messing with the flow, testing the water. Panicked that I've introduced it incorrectly or acclimated too quickly or something, Makes me feel much better!

This makes me feel a lot better, I bought a fire goby 2 days ago. Put him in my tank and havent seen him since. I was gonna go out on a search and rescue mission lol, but I think after watching this video ill go ahead and wait it out.

I've got two of these guys in my 25 gal. I wouldn't buy two at different times though, they'll probably fight to the death. I did this and got lucky but you can never be to sure! Love these guys though!

I'm so glad I found your channel, I've subscribed and liked your videos. I've had freshwater tanks all my life but I've always wanted a SW tank. Watching other RUclipsrs on the subject have made it seem difficult to keep and that has always made me nervous. But after watching one of your vids for the first time I can't wait to get one up and running! I still have a lot to learn but with your knowledge and pleasant personality it's going to be easier than I thought. Keep up the good work, and thank you for taking the time to share what you know!

I saw them at my local store and their fins were so ripped I passed on it, they definitely are so adorable tho!

Ha I chuckled when you said, don't be scared of you don't see him for 7 days...i didn't see mine for 2 weeks, I looked everywhere. I thought he got into the biological filter area. He was just hiding under a live rock.
Kiet Nguyen dudes are crazy😂 we tore down a tank one time and set it back up at the shop and almost a month later this fire fish just magically popped out of the rock like “whatsup”
As soon as my went into the tank, he went to the say hi to the clownfish, he made friends right away!

Based on what you said about them towards the end , Suicide would be a great nickname for one , I never really ever considered getting one of these fish before always over looked but they are actually pretty cool and a great fit for my tank.

@@BrockLeonard My dream fish is a regal angel but I have a 40 gallon breeder with 5 fish the biggest one being a 4 inch coral beauty, I know a regal angel wouldn't do well in a tank of my size so i was wondering if a flame Angel can do okay in a 40 breeder tank ? My stocking list are the following
1. Nemo- Clown fish
2. Coral beauty
3. Midas blenny
4. Peaceful blue devil demsel
5. Dragonet
6. Blood red fire shrimp
7. Cleaner shrimp
8. Bunch of emerald crabs
9. Star fish
10. Pistol shrimp

From experience, they’re more hardier then clownfish and I’ve seen them share a cave with pistol shrimp and yellow watchmen
I love these guys, mine is so cool
I bought 3 of them, 2 days later I only have 2 left... I got several other fish in the tank who are doing fine. Also had the same problem with a mandarinfish. 2 days and gone. I have 2 clownfish, a powder blue tang, 3 anthias, a jewelled blenny, a flame angel, a bluestreak damselfish and a engineer goby. Also 5 hermits in different colors and 3 cleaner shrimps, a red one and two atlantics. It seems some fish are territorial, because the firefish are hanging in a corner of the tank. The only cave is taken by the engineer goby. I don't think he's a predator, but the missing fish where near his cave... still don't know the reason, but sometimes things die, sadly. Later this year we're gonna buy a bigger tank and hope the fish will get along better with more space :)
M.F. Recon I would say the last one might still be hiding but since you actually found the body, that's out of the question. It's hard to catch a fish being aggressive unless you've stared at the tank for hours😂 and if your buying it from online or your fish store, it could've had a bad shipment. The mandarin goby's are tough too. I've had the same trouble with them. Just gotta have bunches of pods. Hope everything in the tank keeps going good! Thanks for watching too, really means alot❤️
If anyone sees this, how do your fire fish do in pairs or groups of three? Online I see a lot of care info saying that they are aggressive towards other firefish. I thought about getting a male and maybe two female firefish, but don’t want them to fight.
It is best if you are wanting more than one, to do a group. 3 or more. Having a pair usually results in fighting.

I use a black plastic frag holder (cut to fit ) my tank as a lid. Do you think he could jump through that? Also looks like your blood shrimp is active and not a hider! I always wanted one butheard you never see them! Does yours come out a lot?

I just picked one up he’s out and about from day 2, but he breathes with mouth open and about 120 times per minute. Is this normal or something wrong, all other fish breath much slower
Could be skittish in the new tank, but they also will dart in and out from the caves so they could be breathing faster. Keep an eye out for aggression from other fish, hopefully it’ll settle into the tank soon.
I found your video because mine is brand new, has been in the tank for 4 hours and I can't find him!!
Definitely found a good whole or sand to burrow under. Be patient and continue feeding each day, they’ll come back out. The worst thing you can do is move the rocks to find them, that’ll scare them even more. Keep your glass lids on as they can be jumpers.

Got my fire goby last night very beautiful and didn’t really hide for long but I tried feeding the goby the next morning and it jumped straight out of the tank like a rocket but somehow is alive and well

Yes. Just keep feeding them really good. A fish that is full will always be less aggressive

Yes! They’ll both be a peaceful group together.

Looking at Firefish on the web with dealers.., they all say, not to pair them. They may get along with female but will fight for their territory with all other males. Are yours male & female? I would love to add another Firefish. Ty
Alan Parr I honestly don't know how to tell if they are male or female but at the fish store we sell them paired up all the time. Paired at random. And I've heard of no problems. I say go for it! Mine seem to be less shy when another one is with em.

hi I just bought my first one and its hiding under the same rock for the past 4 hours like laying on the bed hiding . I got two clowns and a crab they are fine. but this guy is not coming out im getting worried
MonkeyFists aquatics he's fine. He found himself a place where he feels safe. I've never seen a fire fish NOT hide when we first put them in a tank. Just let him be and get used to it. DONT move the rocks unless you are for sure he is stuck because this will cause tons of stress on the little guy.
okay I just put the opposite side of the net where he was to see if he was alive and he is just came out for a bit and sat right back under the rock. thanks a lot ill update on how he is

Hello I Have a question i got a firefish but my clowfish have been bitting his tail do you know what i could do.
So far rn i am rhinking of kepping the clownfish in a breeding box or something like that meanwhile the firefish cures is this a good idea
The clownfish is probably being territorial. If you have a way to trap the clown in a box or net, that can help with aggression. Also feed more, a full belly can lower aggression as well.

I have a 100l tank with a pair of davinci clowns in. was thinkg off adding 2 helfinch firefish in there as well, have plenty of rock and coral in there as well, do you think they would be ok with the pair of clowns? Tia brock :)
Karl Marsh That should be just fine. If your clowns do seem aggressive, add them in at night, that way when the lights come back on, it was like they were already there.

So I’m thinking of starting a reef tank and I was wondering if the dkh of 13 would affect the corals. Would the number go down after I put corals in it? I’m just a little confused
Normally if the KH is too high, then the calcium is too low. But KH will fall once you put corals in there because they will soak it up.

Would you recommend this filter for a 75 gallon saltwater fish tank?
The 406 only rates for a 45 gallon tank. I’d recommend getting a heavier filters or a tag along to use at the same time with the 405.

Blake McClurkin One can live on happily in a tank, but I’ve seen groups do a lot better since they are more comfortable together. 2-3 would be perfecf
