- This is the first look at my dosing system on my 75 gallon reef tank. I set up 3 Kamoer X1 dosing pumps. I will be dosing soda ash, calcium chloride, and kalkwasser. In future videos I will go over the dosing schedule and how everything is working in the return section of my DIY sump.

Wait a minute... LEDs? Dosing system? WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH BILLY PIPES?!?!?
Lolol im wayyy out of my box now
Outstanding! You just gave me some ideas on how to move my dosing tubes to my return chamber where I’ve wanted them but couldn’t come up with a method that would work in the space (extremely limited) I have. Your little diy gadget (first one) will actually be the way to go for me. No room for magnets. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks, glad it helped 👍👍
Great video Billy. It make it dosing a lot easier . I like the tube holder hack.
Thanks bud. Yeah it should make the tank run smooth for sure
Great video Billy you always come up with great DIY solutions thanks for sharing
Thanks man
Nice and clean! Welcome to the dosing family! I had the same problem with the tube holder. I took some longer acrylic tubes, heated them, than bended them 45degrees away from the glass right above the return pump
I never thought of heating them. Great idea👍👍
I always love your diy fixed. Great job!
Thank you Richard 👍👍
Looks nice and clean!
Thanks man👍👍
It definitely looks better and more functional. Love me some DIY stuff.. nice work!
Thanks blue👍👍👍👍
Good luck with dosing and great idea with the acrylic hang on tube holder!
Double thanks 👍👍
Looking great Billy I use exact same tubing holder. Keep up the great work. Thanks for the video !!
Thanks Jeff, do you know the name brand of the tubing holder?
Been running these pumps for almost a year now. Not a single issue at all with them. Have them set to dose Cal and alk 12 times a day mag once a day. Also used the colbalt aquatics airline tubing to go from the simplicity dosing container to the heads then from the heads to the sump. The colbalt tubing fits perfectly snug and air tight over the X1 dosing line.
Thats good to kn3about the tubing 👍 thank you
Billy with another great vid! Do us noobs a favor and go into your dosing regiment! I’m really curious about dosing alk/mag while dosing kalk.
Thanks, and i definitely will go over the dosing schedules soon👍
Merci pour ta vidéo mon AMI !!! 👍👍👍
Nice DIY. 👊🏻
Thanks buddy
About Time!!!😂😂 and More DIY Videos Please💯 I enjoyed the Build time lapse🤘🏾
I have a few diy vids coming up that you dont know about...its hush hush lol
Welcome to the land of living with dosing. You are going to love it. Things in tank will begin to take off. Dont get frustrated. Yup move those lines. You are going to be loving this. Keep it simple, low tech. Just test test test, dont get frustrated if numbers go haywire while adjustments getting made, test everyday, dont wait a few days, corals love it when all is up...lol. they suck it right up. the first week sucks, testing testing, resist any water change. Some doses dose faster, cut up doses to smaller throughout day, no need for extra pump. Most times when it separates tank getting to much at once, kinda like in college when we drank to much and puked. Lol. Your tank pukes. Small doses better. Test after first water change, only do a smaller one. Hang tight, as a non gadget guru here, I love it. Montis growing like weeds. Hang tight, you got this. Who doesnt like less water changes. With less wc feed tank with supplement. Nothing fancy. 😁
All great advice👍👍👍
I’m about to pass out! Great job
Lolol
On my Sump I didn't have room for any kind of dosing tube holder to keep the lines in place. I just drilled a few holes in the trim, just on the horizontal lip part.
I was thinking about doing that, its a good idea👍👍
Sweet brother.
Hey Compy! Thanks man👍
Bulk reef supply has the adapters for those lines
Can you tell me the sku number? I couldn't find it anywhere. Thanks 👍👍
Awesome man!. Nice to see you embrace this tech finally.
Down the road..If you can afford another couple bills..I’d highly recommend swapping the Kalkwasser container for an Avast Marine Kalk Stirrer..they even have a “u-build” version. They have a ph probe port, it stirs slowly 24/7, gravity fed and solid design. ( I have mine on the Kamoer x-1) Cheers
Ill definitely look into the stirrer. Thanks for the recommendation 👍ill definitely check it out
Oh boy! No more manual dosing for you! Good work!
Lol im still nervous
Great video! I’m still using suction cups to hold my dosing lines 🤦♂️. Maybe it time to switch 🤣
Lol you know you probably have a box filled with old magnets and zip ties
Good luck lol!!! Looks nice , I need to start dosing something might start with the kalkwasser, , keep up the good work!!!! Big reef show next month in Connecticut , frag farmer market, didn't know if you were going?
I sure wanna try to make it.
Great little pumps! Only issue is they will “forget” your settings after a power outage. I think there is a grace period though.
As long as it only occurs when theres a power outage. Now im scared again lol
Hey Billy, thanks for the video! I'm new to this and still learning. What is the purpose of dosing both the kalk and the calcium/alkalinity? I thought the kalk takes the place of cal/alk?
Im dosing the kalk to help with ph 👍
Another great video Billy!
I bought the octo essence 130 per your recommendation. What water height do you run yours at?
6" of water exactly seems to be the sweet spot for me👍
Hi, Any more videos?? How much do you dose daily to your 75 gallon tank? Sorry for the late question after 1yr... I can't find any videos or get my head to run the calculations on a daily bases🤯🤯
All tanks are different in the way they consume. I do have some update videos on my channel that might help
SWEEEEEET ....... ❤️
Thanks Blinky!! I really like it so far👍
Woohoo, welcome to the x1 family! I liked the clip of you actually putting together the new tube holder, it was tempting to watch in slow mo lol
Lol slow mo would be boring for about 4 minutes
👐 these are the 2 hands I pushed you with 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol why do they look so tiny? Lol
Great video!!! What do you use to clean out your sump?
Thank you, i try not to clean my sump at all anymore but when i do i just use a small pump with a hose attached to it and i stick the hose in the sump sock👍
Billy what skimmer is this ? It’s so quiet !
Its the essence 130 reef octopus 👍
I been trying too take the step into dosing but I allways said if it ain't broke dont try too fix it. My tanks been doing fine but am sure I would get lots of better and faster growth with dosing just ain't got a apex so thought it would be lots of work and I would mess something up. But this video making want too take that leap
I was nervous for a long time too but I think its necessary to dose when there's a lot of coral in the tank👍
Good stuff. I still can not bring myself to auto-dose. I'm like you, not into all the new tech.
Imstill s little nervous about it lol
Willing to bet that you will never look back to dosing by hand
I hope so👍👍
