  • This is the first look at my dosing system on my 75 gallon reef tank. I set up 3 Kamoer X1 dosing pumps. I will be dosing soda ash, calcium chloride, and kalkwasser. In future videos I will go over the dosing schedule and how everything is working in the return section of my DIY sump.

    Outstanding! You just gave me some ideas on how to move my dosing tubes to my return chamber where I’ve wanted them but couldn’t come up with a method that would work in the space (extremely limited) I have. Your little diy gadget (first one) will actually be the way to go for me. No room for magnets. Thanks for the tips!

    Nice and clean! Welcome to the dosing family! I had the same problem with the tube holder. I took some longer acrylic tubes, heated them, than bended them 45degrees away from the glass right above the return pump

      I never thought of heating them. Great idea👍👍

    Been running these pumps for almost a year now. Not a single issue at all with them. Have them set to dose Cal and alk 12 times a day mag once a day. Also used the colbalt aquatics airline tubing to go from the simplicity dosing container to the heads then from the heads to the sump. The colbalt tubing fits perfectly snug and air tight over the X1 dosing line.

    Welcome to the land of living with dosing. You are going to love it. Things in tank will begin to take off. Dont get frustrated. Yup move those lines. You are going to be loving this. Keep it simple, low tech. Just test test test, dont get frustrated if numbers go haywire while adjustments getting made, test everyday, dont wait a few days, corals love it when all is up...lol. they suck it right up. the first week sucks, testing testing, resist any water change. Some doses dose faster, cut up doses to smaller throughout day, no need for extra pump. Most times when it separates tank getting to much at once, kinda like in college when we drank to much and puked. Lol. Your tank pukes. Small doses better. Test after first water change, only do a smaller one. Hang tight, as a non gadget guru here, I love it. Montis growing like weeds. Hang tight, you got this. Who doesnt like less water changes. With less wc feed tank with supplement. Nothing fancy. 😁

    On my Sump I didn't have room for any kind of dosing tube holder to keep the lines in place. I just drilled a few holes in the trim, just on the horizontal lip part.

    Awesome man!. Nice to see you embrace this tech finally.
    Down the road..If you can afford another couple bills..I’d highly recommend swapping the Kalkwasser container for an Avast Marine Kalk Stirrer..they even have a “u-build” version. They have a ph probe port, it stirs slowly 24/7, gravity fed and solid design. ( I have mine on the Kamoer x-1) Cheers

    • @BillyPipes
      @BillyPipes  4 года назад

      Ill definitely look into the stirrer. Thanks for the recommendation 👍ill definitely check it out

    Hey Billy, thanks for the video! I'm new to this and still learning. What is the purpose of dosing both the kalk and the calcium/alkalinity? I thought the kalk takes the place of cal/alk?

    I been trying too take the step into dosing but I allways said if it ain't broke dont try too fix it. My tanks been doing fine but am sure I would get lots of better and faster growth with dosing just ain't got a apex so thought it would be lots of work and I would mess something up. But this video making want too take that leap

    • @BillyPipes
      @BillyPipes  2 года назад

      I was nervous for a long time too but I think its necessary to dose when there's a lot of coral in the tank👍
