Lando had the exact same reaction time as max, throttle was on the spot, just the sand caused some wheel spin, allowing max to take the lead. @@officialWWM so how else do you explain 3 cars on the same side getting massive wheel spin, while 3 cars on the left don't experience it? How were 3 cars not getting the speed up while the cars on the other side get a good launch? How was max getting up so speed and Lando getting wheel spin while both had the same reaction time, Lando nailing the throttle and clutch and still getting wheel spin? Could it be, on a track built in the sand dunes, where the wind picked up, that the wind moved sand around? And as we all understand aerodynamics, that this would obviously lead to sand accumulating on one side and not spread idealy? The two F1 Academy races (when there was no wind and after the track had been cleaned by the rain) had no such issues, while during the F1 start, literally everyone had that issue. @gameofender4463 I think Carlos definitely would have got past Russell. The Merc wasn't as good on the hard tyres as the Ferrari was, in fact, the Ferrari was in general just quicker than the Merc. Carlos, on the last stint, clawed back a pretty sizeable gap of 4-5s to Russell with a lot of laps left. Perez, I don't think would've passed George so the last pitstop was indeed unnecessary. In fact, he was slower than Lewis by a decent amount on the softs when he shouldn't have been. If he had matched Lewis's pace he would've caught Perez definitely even with the extra pitstop.
People seem to forget that in his first year or two in the "big RB", Max habitually had bad starts. IIRC it was _partly_ the fault of the car, but it was also his fault. Max actually didn't get Lando at all with his champagne and it was Lando's Engineer(?) or whomever was the McLaren rep on stage for most points that practically drowned Lando.
since the 2021 season F1 is partnered with Ferrari-Trento a sparkling wine producer. So at all races in countries where there are not strict alcohol laws, it is a sparkling wine on the podium. whereas I believe at races like Jeddah, Bahrain, etc all use a non-alcoholic beverage for the celebration. also noteworthy Champagne literally is only Champagne if it's from Champagne (it has more specifics than just being from the region but that's the first step). everything else is considered sparkling wine.
The first radio discussion to Lando was a little bit weird but the second one (box or not if Safety Car) is an important one since you will lose a place and they wanted to make sure that Lando was ok with it. I think these types of things are discussed in detail Sunday morning and then in some cases during the race. You often hear something like "safety car window open" so they dont lose any time in communication if there is a SC
Not gonna lie, when Lando did catch up and pass Max, he literally made me think of that The Office (US) Meme where Angela just pops up behind Dwight lol
It was quite clear Piastri didn't have anywhere near the pace of Norris, was it down to the setup or cooking the tyres behind other drivers, who knows. But it's clear Piastri still has a lot to learn
When McLaren asked Lando "Who are we racing? Do you think it's just Max?", two things: 1) They asked if Lando can pull away from Russell at the time (meaning that there wouldn't be any threat from behind); 2) As we all know everybody talks in code. How many times did Ham say "There is no grip on these tires" just to put in 2 FL in a row. So my point is that there very well might be a hidden message. This could have been the team telling that Lando is pulling away from Russell and that the only one they were racing was Max.
I think the pit wall message was a little sarcastic. I think the team by that point could see the pace of the Mclaren compared to Max. And another thing, i think sometimes it might also be a kind of "coded" message/question.
Ig to protect him from Lewis, because his tires were falling off where both checo n sainz were gonna pass him easily, and lewis would have gotten him as well

Bro is about to jinx another teams Challenge for the title. Matt i thought you learned form the Ferrari video
8:34 Yes, bring back the spicy 2019 engine just for Monza please 🙏
On a related note, I wonder if there is something they can do to the engine regulations to incentivize going for more peak power at the potential cost of reliability.
There is, but they won’t. Power unit allocations. Increase those and teams are more likely to push their limits.
When Bottas P2 happened, I was busy celebrating Lando so I didn't see it. But my son, who can sometimes be a dork with the deadpan snark, says "Did Bottas finish P2?" And I'm like "haha very funny" but then he pointed to the screen and we had a good laugh.
Featured Twice🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The McLaren pitwall 🤡
"Who are we racing?"
"What if there is a safety car?"
"Hey driver, whats the strategy?"
"No Oscar, we wont pit you lmao"
I'm pretty sure K-Mag could have had a section of his own in this video
1:26 u along with zero people would say t to hat😂
What is going on with Zhou? He was promising in the first half of last year, but since then he is getting worse and worse
The bottas podium was hilarious 😂
The first radio discussion to Lando was a little bit weird but the second one (box or not if Safety Car) is an important one since you will lose a place and they wanted to make sure that Lando was ok with it. I think these types of things are discussed in detail Sunday morning and then in some cases during the race. You often hear something like "safety car window open" so they dont lose any time in communication if there is a SC
Not gonna lie, when Lando did catch up and pass Max, he literally made me think of that The Office (US) Meme where Angela just pops up behind Dwight lol
Said it before, I'll say it again. Pole position grid slot should be on same side of the track as the first corner.
Gasly with another great drive too. 🙂
I fell asleep on my couch on lap 1 and woke up as lando was rounding the final corner so I quite literally got hit with the gasly bottas meme
Constructors title is surely with Mclaren but Max will definitely give a fight
12:10 that time difference is crazy. I think we can safely say that having the faster car is 90% of the job
It was quite clear Piastri didn't have anywhere near the pace of Norris, was it down to the setup or cooking the tyres behind other drivers, who knows. But it's clear Piastri still has a lot to learn
Honestly it was an impressive drive for Bottas to get P2, absolutely mega drive.
11:55 lots of pit smoke 😂
When you wake up in Australia and funniest tweets comes up before you see the race results.
When McLaren asked Lando "Who are we racing? Do you think it's just Max?", two things:
1) They asked if Lando can pull away from Russell at the time (meaning that there wouldn't be any threat from behind);
2) As we all know everybody talks in code.
My weekends too Matt!
Merceees gambling on a safety car?
You can tell it was a little bit of a boring race since funniest tweets is out before the race reaction pod.
It’d be awesome if the Lando won the drivers championship the same season he got his first win.
Yes, Zandvoort does have higher banking curves than Indianapolis, Daytona's 31 degrees makes Zandvoort look a little flat.
@ the BBC forum it's very quiet. But Norris is just the fastests on the track and I am Dutch.
I think they asked Lando who he’s racing to find out if he had more pace. So were they racing in front or behind.
good thing the race does have more than 1 lap
Zhou is slow but he doesn’t crash. Sargent is slow and he crashes.
11:07 uhm, guys? I think Matt's armpit is on fire
Grand Prix video on Sunday evening format works for more audience better I feel 👀👀
Me: Love the content eitherway
If Bottas doesn’t get a 10/10 in drivers rating for dragging that wheelbarrow to the podium, I will be very disappointed
The big question I haven't seen an answer for yet, why on earth did Russel pit a second time?
Ig to protect him from Lewis, because his tires were falling off where both checo n sainz were gonna pass him easily, and lewis would have gotten him as well
@@jasonhenry9440why put him on USED tires then? Surely there has to be a safer option than that where he has a chance to catch back up
It was better than expected
