    Fun Stat Fact : Excluding Sprints from the count, If Lando keeps winning every race + every fastest lap until the end of the season, and Max always finishes 2nd place, Lando will win the WDC with 2 points to spare. The race is back on but it's a super long shot. Lando needs a practically flawless streak and Oscar needs to bother Max a bit while not impeding Lando.
    Lando winning 10 races in a row is extremely improbable, while Max finishing on the podium for every remaining race is highly likely.

    • @ehrlichgesagt863

      It's not at all likely that RB is probably the 3th fastest car. He had 3 times finishing outside the podium in the last 4 (before today) and the one he finished on the podium was not on pace (British GP) if Lando really doesn't atleast catch up until the 22 race it's completely on him because that car was literally in the top 2 for 10 out of the last 11 races and the other one there where fast enough for sure (British GP). If RB don't bring big upgrades they will need to hope for the biggest bottle job ever

I'm pretty sure the pit wall and lando were communicating with one another beyond the actual words we heard. Potentially confirming the one stop strategy.
      I think the code was prepared by a team that presumed he'd be leading the race at the point these communications needed to happen, then Landos engineer had to stick to the script to ensure the code was understood by Lando hence the odd seeming message.

    it's funny how everyone is making fun of lando for having wheel spin during the start because of sand on that side, intentionally ignoring how the exact same thing happened to most of the drivers on that side of the grid. Lando had the exact same reaction time as max, throttle was on the spot, just the sand caused some wheel spin, allowing max to take the lead. But he kept his cool, built up a tyre advantage and cruised past max once his tyres were giving up as if he had been blue flagged

      @@officialWWM so how else do you explain 3 cars on the same side getting massive wheel spin, while 3 cars on the left don't experience it? How were 3 cars not getting the speed up while the cars on the other side get a good launch? How was max getting up so speed and Lando getting wheel spin while both had the same reaction time, Lando nailing the throttle and clutch and still getting wheel spin? Could it be, on a track built in the sand dunes, where the wind picked up, that the wind moved sand around? And as we all understand aerodynamics, that this would obviously lead to sand accumulating on one side and not spread idealy?
      The two F1 Academy races (when there was no wind and after the track had been cleaned by the rain) had no such issues, while during the F1 start, literally everyone had that issue. The only one getting a better start was Gasly because he immediately moved to the right.

    Did people actually think this race was dull? There was quite a bit happening, only the top 2 really was dull from lap 20 or so onwards, and before that even that part was exciting. Hamilton, Sainz and Piastri were each doing their own climbs through the ranks on track, and there even was that silly 5 car skirmish for last point position. I think it had quite objectively more action than most races, and there wasn't even any need for a safety car. And it didn't even need any particular mixing with race strategies.
    Edit: Is it just that everyone is wired to think "no safety car = dull"? People seem to have just forgotten how to critically perceive a race, and just use arbitrary metrics like that to determine if it is exciting or not.

      @gameofender4463 I think Carlos definitely would have got past Russell. The Merc wasn't as good on the hard tyres as the Ferrari was, in fact, the Ferrari was in general just quicker than the Merc. Carlos, on the last stint, clawed back a pretty sizeable gap of 4-5s to Russell with a lot of laps left. Perez, I don't think would've passed George so the last pitstop was indeed unnecessary.
      But it's also true that George's last stint on the soft wasn't great. It seems he took too much life out of the tyres early and couldn't close the gap down to Perez again. In fact, he was slower than Lewis by a decent amount on the softs when he shouldn't have been. If he had matched Lewis's pace he would've caught Perez definitely even with the extra pitstop.

    3:00 - Certainly a weird question, though thinking about it I thought it was more about them managing Lando's expectations and McLaren calculating when would be best to make the pit stop. More of a do we optimise for attack or defence? Was kind of too early to call then where they sat but it was definitely weird to ask.

    a bit surprised no mention of Piastri finishing 27 seconds behind Norris. That is a quite big margin to be ignored. Even Perez was closer to his teammate. Biggest disappointment for me today. With that car he should have been on podium.

    since the 2021 season F1 is partnered with Ferrari-Trento a sparkling wine producer. So at all races in countries where there are not strict alcohol laws, it is a sparkling wine on the podium. whereas I believe at races like Jeddah, Bahrain, etc all use a non-alcoholic beverage for the celebration.
    also noteworthy Champagne literally is only Champagne if it's from Champagne (it has more specifics than just being from the region but that's the first step). everything else is considered sparkling wine.

    The first radio discussion to Lando was a little bit weird but the second one (box or not if Safety Car) is an important one since you will lose a place and they wanted to make sure that Lando was ok with it. I think these types of things are discussed in detail Sunday morning and then in some cases during the race. You often hear something like "safety car window open" so they dont lose any time in communication if there is a SC

    When McLaren asked Lando "Who are we racing? Do you think it's just Max?", two things:
    1) They asked if Lando can pull away from Russell at the time (meaning that there wouldn't be any threat from behind);
    2) As we all know everybody talks in code. How many times did Ham say "There is no grip on these tires" just to put in 2 FL in a row. So my point is that there very well might be a hidden message. This could have been the team telling that Lando is pulling away from Russell and that the only one they were racing was Max.

  • @Bobby11
    @Bobby11 18 дней назад +1

    I think the pit wall message was a little sarcastic. I think the team by that point could see the pace of the Mclaren compared to Max. And another thing, i think sometimes it might also be a kind of "coded" message/question.
