Just bought some LED/ HID conversion bulbs for my Calypso LX 5.0. My drive to work at 0430 down the backroads of Burnet county are gonna be SO much more relaxing.....ish lol
Your better of driving around with two candles to see at night in a stock foxbody ! Them led lights make a world of difference wow ..let’s see 🤔 better night vision less amperage so the switch doesn’t get screaming hot and melts or worse catches on fire 🔥 and they are plug and play 😃 definitely a no brainer. Good looks buddy! Awesome info as usual
Another great video with great content for the Foxbody family!! Also keep in mind that our eyesight isn’t what it used to be when we were driving these cars thirty years ago…damn I feel old all of a sudden!
Thanks buddy! Yes, I agree. While I was editing the video, all I could think about was how the "old lookers" ain't what they used to be either 😂. Thanks for reaching out and I hope you're keeping well!
Nice video, I have a 86 GT with the 4 eyed glass bulbs, which I converted to LED but in the process had to change the housings to accept the LEDs. I followed the House of Dula channel which he did the conversion on his 86 also.
Installed these today. Work great. If you remove the adapter to get the locking sleeve over, note how the notches are positioned with the "Y" looking notch needing to be on top when you put the adapter back on, will save you a few minutes of frustraton.
I used to have the same diamond clear headlights and I hated the light beam they put off. Basically undrivable at night. Found a full 6 piece NOS set and put those in with the same highschool blue bulbs as you removed. It is way better than the offshore lights. I think a lot of the problem too is people dont take the time to aim their lights. Sometimes it take a few tries, aim them against the garage door, go for a spin and see how the light up the road. Also, ive heard of guy running an external relay to the battery to power the headlights instead of running all that amperage through the stock healight switch. I guess theres a voltage drop through the switch causing the output to be lower. Food for thought.
i remember the pain of hid bulbs and was on amazon looking at LED bulbs and a million were there. these seem too make the most sense as an ez install ...i almost forgot about the old school dual hi low stuff too.. nice work keep this up and youll get a sub here !
@@KASLCustoms I found a video on RUclips on how to repair the door chime. I removed the door chime from under the dash and opened it up replacing the black foam with a rubber O-ring. With the key in ignition and or headlights on, the chime chimes again! Thanks for your feedback about this issue. 👍
Another excellent vid. Will look those up and may put it on my list. My fox doesn’t get much driving now but once i add some more engine power it will be driven more.
You're right abooot the replacement bulbs on the 87-93 aero cars...My 86GT however with 4 fresh halogen sealed beams plus the stock 750 marshal's were more like 747 landing gear lights....I got flashed constantly due to the light output even adjusted to spec. My 91 with dingy yellow lens and no fog lights were as effective as candles. I am pretty spoiled with 2019 Fusion Sport with LED everything....its also a twin turbo V6 that absolutely embarrasses them in every aspect of measure (minus sound and character) that can be taken...I know which I'll keep forever though--it does sound faster and gets more attention than if I was driving a Lambo.
so have you upgraded the other lights to LED? If you did, I am trying to find if you had any issues with the turn signal lights not working correctly, I hear that you may have to add a 50W 6ohm resistor in there somewhere for them to flash correctly.
I'm not sure. The only reason I have smaller "lock nuts" is because they came with my replacement headlights. The fan vents to the rear so I think you should be fine - especially while driving i.e. wind movement past 👍
NICE!! BUT just ordered mine and it seems like I got the wrong ones. The connector is just one pin? Maybe I'm missing an adaptor? Or I just ordered wrong part. Part # ? Anyone?
Ok so I've heard that you shouldn't put LEDs in the stock style headlights... Do you know anything about this? Any weirdness with your light setup? Thanks for the help!
Good morning, what is your update on these LED lights? Any issues with the factort light switch burning out? Read about installing a relay in-between factory harness and LED lights, was this performed on your vehicles? Thank you in advance for any response.
The update is all is perfect. The nice part with LED's is they are a lower amperage draw so I don't see any reason to worry about overloading the circuit/switch
Thanks for the great content as usual. It's ironic, I just installed LED bulbs in my fox last week. Not all bulbs will work with the deeper locking rings. It depends on the shape and size and the wire coming out of the side of the bulb. I had to trim my rings down to something more like the aftermarket ones you show. No big deal though, 2 minutes with a dremel
If your wiper aren't working, try tapping on the wiper motor with a small rubber hammer or the handle of a regular hammer. The winding inside the motor can get piled up with moisture/rust and sometimes you can "knock" enough of it off to get them working again. Much like tapping on a starter 😉
@@KASLCustoms I have a question about the LED lights for the headlights. What about the GT fog lights? Do they have LEDs for those? I took a quick look on the internet and I didn't see anything but perhaps you know something I don't. Let me know.
I’ve had a few other people comment on this, for what it’s worth, I personally wouldn’t lose any sleep over it because there will always be air movement past the bulb while driving and it he bulb actually vents out the rear as well 👍
Any opinions on glare? They say you can't (shouldn't) just put a LED bulb in a halogen housing as they were not designed for them and the light will scatter/glare everyone in the eyes.
Yes you do bring up a good point and it is definitely a concern to have in a generic sense however I don't notice any at all in the 87-93 foxbody headlight housings.
The rings came with my replacement lenses that I bought from @latemodelresoration and the bulbs I just searched out on Amazon. You can actually search them by the year/make/model of your car right on there 👍
I think you may have erred in using the stock locking rings. As someone with an engineering background I believe the reason for the shorter locking ring is to help dissipate the heat generated in the LED. While the bulb itself does not got hot, the circuitry does. You may want to change the locking ring to ones that were provided with the bulbs. You may also need to have the headlights re-aimed so that the light does not go into an oncoming driver's eyes . How come your assistant was not in the garage helping you?
@@2010willyz They were called lock rings in the video. I think you missed something in the video. The rings that came with the bulbs, worked fine, they are just 1/2 the depth of the factory rings. How do they do with oncoming traffic? Anybody flash you thinking your too bright?
Funny you ask because I only drove with them after the video was filmed. No flashes what so ever 👍
I wonder if the extended length of the OEM locknut will cause the LED to fail prematurely due to interfering with the cooling fan ?🤔
I'm not sure. The only reason I have smaller "lock nuts" is because they came with my replacement headlights. The fan vents to the rear so I think you should be fine - especially while driving i.e. wind movement past 👍

what do you mean relay?
Very cool! These LED's should help with a lower power draw as well
