She is in her right mind and she is trying to be polite. People who are not black have a tendency to take our politeness for being weak like we don't know how to be kind and I was taught kindness but they will try to run over us and when we speak up then they want to look at us as being bipolar or out of order when all we're doing is speaking up for the truth but God can and will have the last word in this all.

We try to be careful of what we say because there is always the problem of them trying to see if they can catch a spin something they can cause problems for us or our families but she has a Godly heart I know and she's probably wondering what's wrong with that woman the way she's asking those questions see her wisdom tells her what to say because people really don't understand and that's they went through something and if they are not black and never went through something sure there. But the world has them believing that black people are ignorant and that woman is nowhere ignorant she's highly intelligent with an education or not My mom passed away in 2012 she was 97 at the time she did not experience the massacre but she was born in 1915 I'm sure her family at talked about something about it. But my mother always fought for justice for people they had an exhibit in the museum in the city where I was born about the work my mother had done in the sixties. There are people out here fighting for justice.

    • @RainRedMusic

I think the only dislikes should come from people who think some of the questions from the interviewer were cringe and disrespectful of someone suffering PTSD. I wish someone else was interviewing them so they could lead the conversation more and not be pigeonholed by the narrative of the interviewer. There were several veins of conversation I wish the interviewer had explored but instead she cut them off with her own list of questions from the network. I understand that’s just television but it sucks in cases like this where these survivors are already 100+ and hearing them unfiltered would be more important than anything, IMO.

Mrs. Fletcher was on Tony Brown's journal in the 1980s and she and other survivors and their descendants still haven't gotten paid. That is outrageous! Black America we can look to the Tulsa massacre to as an clear indicator as to what this government is going to do for black America. It looks like they are going to knuckle drag for as long as possible. When it comes down to it the government itself is behind all of the racial violence a.k.a. white violence. Well it is said that the government is the people and the people as the government they're talking about white people. It is like hand and glove.
The government has been complicit in everything. Like I said they will knuckle drag until the end of time. The longer they take the pay reparations the longer it's going to be so they will always use time as an excuse. They are deliberately stalling. Oh, it was so long ago… But ultimately we're not talking about just slavery. If you add up all of these documented cases of white violence against the so-called black Americans on top of slavery, they owe us beyond imagination and white america knows it. They probably tell bedtimes tales of this to their children.

I'm glad the comments are open on this. I was just watching the hearings where you two fine Americans testified to the atrocities against you . Just can't fathom how people could do those things to other humans . So glad you are alive to be heard . Im 46 years old and your stories just break my heart. If someone deserves this wrong recognized permanently its you guys and all affected. You deserve compensation for sure

They are such a inspiration for today’s generation on what it means to stand up for justice and have someone tell their story for the world to hear. God blessed them with abundance of favor in their golden years.

I so appreciate this interview! So many things I observed. Too many to name. Just thinking about some of the things the two of them said, and obviously went through (and still dealing with), brought me to tears! These are some strong souls! It's hard to believe that Mrs. Viola had a "lesser" education from how articulate she speaks...and her voice...just wow! From most of the things she talks about, I can tell that she's big on education, though. They, and I'm sure many other people like them, are people that we can gain wisdom and strength from today! You can't tell that either one of them are 100+ years old!
