Marc, when I first saw this pop up on my RUclips feed, I clicked somewhat anxiously to see your take. I have found that there are some that get very territorial about business in this industry which I can understand, however, I have always been a believer that we should be rooting each other on as our industry is small and that great opportunities will come to those who aim to operate with integrity. Based on your classy and thoughtful take here, I can tell you have a similar philosophy, and this is another indicator of why you have been successful in this 20-year journey with Long Island Watch. I know we have not spoken to one another before, but I hope you continue to succeed for many years to come! PS: I would love to meet one day.

My favourite thing about this chanel is that this guy is a teacher! I respect teaching. That's why I keep checking his store when I am looking for a watch or watch accessories, and why I keep watching his videos. Because I want the teaching to continue, whether it's business, watch & learn, or whatever else he wants to teach. We need more variety of perspectives and expertises teaching in this world

Always been impressed by your business acumen, your no-nonsense approach to customer service (have bought several watches from LIW and have returned one with ease), and your hands-on day-to-day control of the biz (I’ve found you typically personally have answered my inquiries; Teddy obviously doesn’t have the time). The analogy you presented in this video was so simple, but so spot on : using RUclips videos to “drive” customers to your on-line store; brilliant!

Back in the day before he blew up, he struck me as a reviewer who didn't... have experience with all that he reviewed. I thought I could review on specs too, and when he started selling watches, I never really felt like I could fully trust his reviews... his intent wasn't clear. Your intent IS clear and you are driving business to your store. I respect that. TGV's intent is clear, to provide honest unbiased reviews... that being said, while I didn't watch much of his content while he blew up, I always like watching videos about watches I am already interested in and I was happy he was putting watches in front of peoples eyes and getting people excited about something other than smart watches.
All that said, I am happy for him. He went from hobby to career which is a great thing... means he's passionate about what he does and at the end of the day, I can't hate on that.
Congratulations to you Mr. Teddy, I wish you much success in your endeavor.

But what would keep me coming back to you is your ethics, and honesty that I have personally seen. I was doing a mod and sent it to a repair shop you had recommended. They received a part I had sent them and it was wrong/defective , they got another piece from you, didn’t charge me and I never asked them to. I would have had no issue paying for it, but it was the idea, they and you would do that for a customer. A small kindness, touches people who in turn tell other people so I have a family of friends that buy from you, and you never knew. I like Teddy, but I Love you and the Gentry.

I remember when Teddy started his channel. He didn't know the difference between lug width and lug to lug. And he thought it was called an "expedition" case back. I still gave him a chance, but lost respect for him when he opened his online store because he was still doing "reviews". I don't feel like Long Island Watch does reviews, but rather advertisements. Marc just lets us know what he carries in his online store, what the specs are, and what the price is. No videos about "the best watch for the money" etc. And the watch and learn series is amazing and underrated.

Nothing wrong with your image amigo. I would like to think that the majority of people, through seeing your authenticity, wouid gravitate toward a legitimately down to earth hoodie wearing fellow such as yourself. And to add to that, a genuine care for the watch community beyond the modern day grab for fame that’s usually coupled to a “polished” facade.
Keep doing what you’re doing Marc, we appreciate you!

As an out of the US viewer I will say that it's unlikely that I will ever buy a watch from either store...but I very very much enjoy and learn a lot from both Marks and Teddys videos. Great resources that support my interest in watches and the broader interest in horology. Thanks Mark.

Well done, Marc. I watch your videos often. I guess unsurprisingly, Teddy's youtube presence is what got me to watching an unhealthy amount of horology related videos (yours included). What I loved about this video is your genuine happiness for one of your colleagues, and the total lack of "haterism." Classy, man. Coincidentally, I was just on your website earlier today (before seeing this video) ready to buy a Tissot PRX, but you didn't have any. I'll definitely check your inventory on my next purchase!

Bought my first Laco from you, Marc.
The AU/US exchange rate was good at the time so I bought it. It’s absolutely terrible now so US stores are off limits until that changes…if it changes for the better as it’s shockingly bad right now.

Marc, subscriber and repeat customer of LIW here. I know your integrity and transparency - as you said, your videos are commercials for the store, not disguised as objective reviews. Your collaboration videos with TGV are among the best and most trustworthy watch content on YT. I unsubscribed from Teddy’s channel when he doubled down on his relationship with Kevin O’Leary. I wish Teddy continued success, and hope that with age and maturity he can be more discerning about the company he keeps.

Marc, I started watching Teddy's videos only recently as well as your channel. I enjoy both channels and I learn a lot from both of you. As someone who only recently got back into watches, the content you and Teddy provide have been excellent. Back in the 1980's and 1990's, I was into collecting vintage watches like the 1940's Rolex "Bubblebacks" Hamiltons from the 1930's and Gruen Curvex watches. I even bought some of the first Swatch's from 1983 when they were first introduced. I left the hobby in the late 1990's as vintage watches were becoming insanely high priced as more people were getting into the hobby. Recently, I have returned to the hobby focusing on modern mechanical watches like Seiko, Oriss and others. Your channels have provided a lot of valuable information, and I will continue to follow you guys. Thanks

You're all (all of you watch RUclipsrs) a part of an ecosystem. Teddy's channel was my gateway into this ecosystem and my gateway into automatic watches (I bought a Sternglas Naos from him). From there I got into watching videos from you (I'm here now) TGV's Urban Gentry, Watch Crunch, Just One More Watch, Brave Beaters, and many more. As we speak a delivery truck is about to deliver my Citizen Promaster NY0040-17L which I bought after watching TGV's video about the Marina Militare's dive watch. What's good for one of you is good for all of you.

I started following Teddy last year and purchased many watches online. He's the reason (read between the lines) I purchased an Islander from your website due to its fantastic value for an affordable price. I love my "Wave" its one of my favorites. Thanks again!

To someone who was at one time a Teddy patreon I am really made up he has come this far. He also had the good grace to ask me to stop my financial support when he didn’t need it anymore. Having been a big fan of all the channels you mentioned Marc plus your own of course, it’s really great to see how you guys have seem to grow wings and turn a RUclips channel into a viable business (although I realise yours was up and running anyway).

Marc, I found Teddy when he posted "Shopping for watches with Mr Wonderful" about 3 years ago and the watch collection has grown from 2 to 10, and through the watch guys on RUclips I found Dufrane Watches in my back yard. I've booked an appointment with Steven in two week. People need to support their local artists 😎

This is a collaboration I'm waiting for. I've bought watches & parts from both of you, and I'm definitely a happy return customer. I've bought two of my favorite watches from Teddy (Marathon GSAR & Tissot Heritage 38), I've bought many parts & accessories from your store...most recently, the tool-less micro-adjust bracelet for the Marathon GSAR. I put it on yesterday and it's really a great bracelet. The fit and quality are really impressive. It's an upgrade over the factory bracelet.
What I like about both is that you both give excellent customer service. I've never had a bad experience with either store...on the contrary, it's been some of the best watch experiences in the hobby.
