Bought the SE version a few months back and a bonus factor is that, once you see the rings close, you wanna close them every day. Like, I wake up right away from my bed by 6:45 and not 7AM because I wanna get that stand goal number up. I wanna go for the workout even if it is 10PM just to achieve that perfect week. Not a common thing, but if you love perfection, this watch will be a motivating factor to you. Love the video style, I think your channel will reach a million subs in a year of 15 months tops.
I’ve been working out for over 15 years…I’ve been up and down on bodyweight but consistent with lifting weights. I’ve counted calories but the needle stopped sometime ago and could not lose weight anymore. I watched the video 3mos ago and I can say my Apple Watch and this video has revamped my weight loss once again. Putting my watch on when I wake up already motivates me to start moving as much as possible. Thanks Brian!
This video alone was the deciding factor whether or not I should buy an apple watch. So far I'm in love with the fitness hardware this little thing has in it. Saved my fitness goals during this plateau I'm in.
I am 48 and i started my weight loss journey on march 20 and i lost 39,6 lbs so far, but i am stunned how simular we are mate haha, my workout is like 100% same as your, but my walking is quite high, everyday i try to keep 15k steps, but Sundays i rest completely. I almost cant live without my apple watch, doing all this has completely cured my type 2 diabetes and everything else feels fantastic, and just being able to track ur daily activities with apple watch no matter if it’s not 100% accurate helps a million… thx for all ur videos mate!!
The Apple Watch is definitely a game changer for fitness. Not to mention the convenience of calls, texts, MS Teams messages, reminders, calendar alerts, etc. I don’t think I can ever NOT own one at this point.
Thanks so much Bryan. I learned a few things about my watch that I will incorporate. My biggest takeaway from the watch is accountability. I look at it later in the day and it reminds me I need to get my steps in. Strangely, I don’t want to let myself down when I look at the watch and fall short of a goal.
Your videos have lit a gigantic lightbulb over my head, I have struggled with calculating caloric deficit for so long and had no idea this information was sitting on my wrist. Thank you so much, your videos are incredibly shot, editing and extremely informative.
but still tracking your median weight throughout week for a long period of time will always be more reliable way to track progress . It’ll overestimate your resting and active calories. Always cut a hundred or two hundred of your resting cals and half your non-workout active cals when using the Apple Watch.
Love the disclaimer at the beginning. It's so thoughtful really, and I say that because I would never have thought of it, but it makes you and this video seem so genuine ❤️💜

literally what ive been doing for the past year. I've stayed sub 10% bodyfat year round with my leanest ever being 7%. This is an amazing way not only to keep you good looking all year, but its another thing that can motivate you. Be careful though, and realise that these are just numbers and that you shouldnt get obsessed as this could lead to a unhealthy obsession with calories, steps, macros or even an eating disorder. Stay aware too that the numbers on your apple watch and the calories and macros in the back of a package are NEVER 100% ACCURATE. So caring about going like 100 calories over your limit is such bullshit. Trust me, take this from a guy that is sub 10% year round.

As someone who struggles with binge eating disorder, I really appreciate the disclaimer you put at the very beginning of this video. Great content btw!
Try intermittent fasting, I don’t know your situation and I did binge eat until I used it . But if you set it and try to stick to it, it will become a habit of not going to snack.I use the Fastic app on the 14:10 plan. Using it for a while and just helps me stay aware. And also count calories for your goal👍🏽
Thank you Bryan, because of you I purchased the Series 8, and have been having TONS of fun figuring out my daily calorie expenditure. This has helped me get a better handle on my daily eating. 🥰🥰
Love the video. My fitness goals are entirely different from yours but I can honestly say, my Apple Watch is probably the most important piece of tech I own. It changed my life. I don’t have a gym membership but I started working out from home 5 days a week about 4 years ago, and at 55 I’m in the best shape of my life.
I'm way too overweight and the Apple Watch has been a serious help for me! I'm dropping weight like crazy. For some reason, just something as simple as closing my rings is enough to keep me motivated, and then it becomes "how many days in a row can I keep closing my rings?", which is addicting. Now I'm really enjoying how I feel after a good workout! (was hell getting started, but now I see the light!), and my diet is a complete 180 from where it was 6 months ago (saving loads of money too by almost never eating out). Apple can really annoy me off in a lot of ways, which I won't get into, but I have to say that the Apple Watch is genuinely one of their best implementations ever! I wasn't a watch person either and now it feels really weird if I don't have it on. I actually like it more than my phone, and a lot of times I don't even bring my phone with me.
Thank you for making this video. I have an Apple Watch for many years but clueless on how to track my calories burnt and monitor the calories intake. Your detailed explanation has shown me how I can track my calorie deficit for weight lost. Once again, thanks for this amazing content. God bless.

Your transformation is incredible, would you consider doing one on your nutrition to chi eve your transformation ? Thanks, M
Love your transformation and these videos are super helpful for someone who is just starting or struggling to find out right information. Please share more videos on fitness (your routine, how do you motivate yourself, your workout plan etc.). More power to you!
Great video. Side note: Apple Watch has a workout for Traditional Strength Training. I’d been using the Functional Strength Training workout for my weight training until I discovered it. If you scroll down, it’s in ‘Other’. Not sure if it makes much difference but there it is!
Brilliant mate. I too bought an Apple Watch when I started my fitness journey over 6 months ago. I am also tracking calories using an app and weighing as much food as possible and I have dropped from 110kg to 98 so far and looking and feeling 100 times better without starving myself. And your spot on I too hated watches before my Apple Watch and now cannot live without it. Thanks a lot for the great info as I was worried that maybe the Apple was not as accurate as the data supplied.
Thank you for the breakdown. I agree, I ramped up my workout after getting the watch. I also don’t take mine off except to sleep. Love the bloopers at the end. 😂❤🙏🏽
Hi Bryan Definitely it would be great comparing Apple Watch against other fitness trackers as Garmin ones, to see how accurate are they and which ones are the best for fitness trackers
Hi ,you gave me the answer which I was looking for sometime, since I bought my 7 series. I was only using for notifications, now I got better knowledge thanks !
Yea you’re not the only one. I also love to see those digits and everything recorded especially how many calories burned 😂 it’s addicting and make me stay on track everyday.
I'm exactly the same way with the data from the Apple Watch! I nerd over every little thing! Knowledge is power, right? And I see it as a tool to put power in my hands in regards to my fitness goals! As always, thanks for the great video!
This is interesting because, I’m getting ready to buy my first Apple Watch. Most of the scientific people breaking down the smart watches on RUclips say the watches are not very accurate when it comes to smart watches.
My Apple watch is my life I never liked watches either but once I fell in love with the gym I became addicted to closing my rings & tracking my daily progress great video man 👌🏾
Lost 7lbs in 10 days with Bryan’s method - easiest and most flexible weight loss I’ve ever had. I finished my job of 4 years because I’m moving country for new role and I had 3 leaving do’s in that time, with friends, colleagues and family. Despite the meals out and alcohol, I still lost weight because I made sure I was exercising enough using my Apple Watch to maintain the deficit.
Been using my watch at the gym without using the activity app to choose what exercise I was currently doing. I was wondering why my movement, steps, and calories were so low. Lol! Thank you so much!
I was just wondering why you log your strength training under ‘Functional Strength Training’? I have been logging mine under ‘Traditional Strength Training’ for the past year or so - intrigued to hear if you found any distinct difference between the two!
Traditional is like benching, deadlift, and that shit. Functional is doing exercises that are more practical like bicep curls, dumbbell chest press, and shit like that
😲 I didn’t realize this was an option. I only used the presets on the watch already available which was functional training. Glad you posted and started looking. I found it.
I’ve been on a slowly progressing fitness journey and I believe you just opened up a door for me! I’m a geek by nature and love stats I can see for myself! Being able to see the calories and incorporate that number with my exercises are going to be life changing!🎉
I have been yo-yo'ing for over 20 years. After watching one of your videos I finally realized maybe the missing piece is tracking my calorie expenditure, so I have a number to base my deficit on. I bought a Fitbit (I hate Apple) and am really surprised at the results over the first week; the online TDEE calculator puts me at 2278/day, but according to the watch I'm burning about 2800/day even on days where I don't do much (for instance Christmas, when the gym was closed). I know there's some variance to pretty much every method out there, but I'm really looking forward to tailoring my meal plans based on this new information.
I love my Apple Watch OFC it’s not the most accurate but definitely gives you an idea and it has helped me drop weight by simply giving me that motivation to close the rings. It’s better to feel like you need to do more than just ignore ur rings just cause it isn’t “100% accurate”
Been in a fitness journey for about 5 years and no progress. First video I watch that I actually understand how simple it can be. Even though I know nothing how an apple watch works definitely going to get an it to start tracking. Earned my subscription. Thanks Bryan
Nice video, love the Apple Watch for fitness & calorie tracking too! Why do you use the functional instead of traditional strength workout mode, though?
Wish I found this video 5 months ago when I started to focus more on fitness. I’ve come to the same conclusions as you present in this video, but through my own research, and trial and error. Great video, will be sharing with anyone who ask me how I’ve lost over 20 pounds of fat while gaining muscle in the last 4.5 months. I gave myself the Apple Watch Ultra as motivation when I started out, and I love it. Running with just the watch and AirPods, listening to Andy Huberman for hours over LTE is just great :). Also highly recommend Atomic Habits and focusing on systems rather than goals when starting out. Love your content, keep it up!
I’ve had my Apple Watch for about 2 years and until now I just haven’t been using it in any meaningful way. This is a bit of a lightbulb moment for me - thanks!!
The goals really have helped it make things into a habit for me. The only exercise I was getting was walking before, but now I am mixing in new things. Started at a smaller goal and increased it not long ago and cutting calories currently. Next step might be strength training but I just want to get lean as a goal because I have had a belly since childhood.
just got an 8 for xmas....mainly because of the BOGO from AT&T...I don't like wearing a watch. but I love my phone...so hopefully this is useful. I am glad you put the part in there about not wearing a watch....lets see
Thank you for your video. Why Apple Watch and not a different device? It’s something that I’ve been wondering. So many fitness people have Apple Watches and I was puzzled by it. Love your videos and thank you again.
Well done and great video! No, you are NOT the only one who loves to track the data. I use it to motivate me and have found positive associations with certain results. Also, loved the outtakes at the end. Yeah, there are just some of those times it’s just hard to nail the point and that helps others understand the madness behind the curtains at times. Anyhow, totally SUB’d.
i personally think this is the most accurate thing you can have, aside from wearing an actual chest strap monitor all day, which is not realistic lol the biggest testament to this though is the fact that i’ve been able to maintain a lean physical for the last year plus using the Apple Watch and tracking my calories! you’re never going to be 100% accurate with all of this, but i would like to think this margin of error is quite low, as long as you’re wearing the watch all day and keeping the health app updated with your current weight!
Something to keep in mind, smart watches in general including the Apple watch consistently under report calorie expenditure. It is primarily because it is very difficult to determine how to determine a person's calorie expenditure. There are many other factors that affect the calorie expenditure and what smart watches provide are simply estimates. It is very likely that you are burning more calories than what's your smartwatch may be reporting
I’ve worn my watch at the same time as my Polar chest strap monitor and the HR are spot on. The Polar calories burned tracks pretty well the total calories of the Apple Watch while working out.
@@joelbailey9594 I have a Polar h10 and damn near every apple watch. I’ve tested the latest ones against the Polar h10 several times while either doing treadmill running, walking, or lifting weights. What I’ve found is the watch has never been spot on with either workout. However, for what the watch does it’s the better buy and for most people, the strap would not be worth the additional investment because the Apple Watch heart monitor is close enough to the polar.
Thank you for your lovely video. i’m just trying to work out whether it’s worth buying an Apple Watch as I am going to be trying to lose weight in the New Year and wanting to work out whether it’s worth buying an Apple Watch to help me control my exercise I’m doing and if it can how much calories I am burning in the way of food. as I’m watching your video I feel like I’m getting a bit confused if I did decide to get an Apple Watch I hope that I can easily understand what I’m supposed to do in the setting up process.
Thank you, I've learned more about the Apple Watch and phone health app than I ever learned before. Like I did not know, I could set the rings on the activity app to a certain workout/move/stand time.

Love your transformation and these videos are super helpful for someone who is just starting or struggling to find out right information. Please share more videos on fitness (your routine, how do you motivate yourself, your workout plan etc.). More power to you!
had an apple watch for a couple months now, and I ddin't know about the total calories burnt in a day, this is eye opening! thanks!
This was the best video on Apple Watch for fitness. Please do more fitness & weight loss strategy videos!
This vid was so so informative to me. Caffeine info was so spot on. 👍👍Thanks a lot
Great video. Side note:
Apple Watch has a workout for Traditional Strength Training. I’d been using the Functional Strength Training workout for my weight training until I discovered it. If you scroll down, it’s in ‘Other’. Not sure if it makes much difference but there it is!
Thanks Brian, I found this really useful and quite motivating towards my fitness goals!
Thank you so much for all the information regarding the functions on the watch
Whoop band is the best tracker for calories
Bro this is amazing. I appreciate you. I’m now getting an Apple Watch for this reason
Woah congratulations 🎉! Keep up the good work
Thanks Amber.
Thank you for the breakdown. I agree, I ramped up my workout after getting the watch. I also don’t take mine off except to sleep. Love the bloopers at the end. 😂❤🙏🏽
Hi Bryan
Definitely it would be great comparing Apple Watch against other fitness trackers as Garmin ones, to see how accurate are they and which ones are the best for fitness trackers
Hands down, the best video about the Apple Watch! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video! Now that I’m convinced, I’d just like to know which Apple Watch you use?
Hi ,you gave me the answer which I was looking for sometime, since I bought my 7 series. I was only using for notifications, now I got better knowledge thanks !
Yea you’re not the only one. I also love to see those digits and everything recorded especially how many calories burned 😂 it’s addicting and make me stay on track everyday.
love the blooper reel at the end. Show's you're an actual human! love the content!
You're not the only one! I love data and tracking. What do you use to track the calories you do eat? Thanks for the content!
Thank you for the disclaimer that was very thoughtful of you!
I'm exactly the same way with the data from the Apple Watch! I nerd over every little thing! Knowledge is power, right? And I see it as a tool to put power in my hands in regards to my fitness goals! As always, thanks for the great video!
Besides this being incredibly helpful, thank you for the reminder to limit my caffeine intake. I really needed it.
This is interesting because, I’m getting ready to buy my first Apple Watch. Most of the scientific people breaking down the smart watches on RUclips say the watches are not very accurate when it comes to smart watches.
I have been using my apple watch but really wasn't 100% sure with it, some great pointers here that will guide me better using it.
You are not the only person who loves to count everything
good to know! ❤️🔥
My Apple watch is my life I never liked watches either but once I fell in love with the gym I became addicted to closing my rings & tracking my daily progress great video man 👌🏾
Good stuff bro I purchased my first Apple Watch today since I’ve started back working out I’m looking forward to the grind with it in the gym
Lost 7lbs in 10 days with Bryan’s method - easiest and most flexible weight loss I’ve ever had. I finished my job of 4 years because I’m moving country for new role and I had 3 leaving do’s in that time, with friends, colleagues and family. Despite the meals out and alcohol, I still lost weight because I made sure I was exercising enough using my Apple Watch to maintain the deficit.
so many kcal you take off? to lose weight?
You have such a chill straightforward presentation of information. I really enjoyed it!
Because your gay sir
I also use traditional strength training I think that functional strength training is more like callisthenics
It probably logs less calories which would allow him to more room for Eu
Traditional is like benching, deadlift, and that shit. Functional is doing exercises that are more practical like bicep curls, dumbbell chest press, and shit like that
😲 I didn’t realize this was an option. I only used the presets on the watch already available which was functional training. Glad you posted and started looking. I found it.
Nice! Love my Apple Watch!
I know there's some variance to pretty much every method out there, but I'm really looking forward to tailoring my meal plans based on this new information.
actually FitBit tends to inflate the calories lol
@@mariahlambily3653 that's why I'm keeping daily calories at 2,300 (33% each macro) regardless of what it says I burned that day.
I love my Apple Watch OFC it’s not the most accurate but definitely gives you an idea and it has helped me drop weight by simply giving me that motivation to close the rings. It’s better to feel like you need to do more than just ignore ur rings just cause it isn’t “100% accurate”
I just got myself a Series 7 for my master's degree graduation December last year... but it has been pretty good in at least making me move and stand.
I’m so impressed by the quality of your videos.
thanks a ton! that honestly means a lot!
You can also eat based off the previous day they will be a day late at all times but you will trend very accurately where you want to
Wish I found this video 5 months ago when I started to focus more on fitness.
You’re not the only one! Hope your video will help me to motivate my son 😉
Great video. I am totally resetting my Watch and how do my calorie tracking. Thx!!!
Bryan, thanks for the video. When do you do back day?
just got an 8 for xmas....mainly because of the BOGO from AT&T...I don't like wearing a watch. but I love my phone...so hopefully this is useful. I am glad you put the part in there about not wearing a watch....lets see
Liked ur vlog very much very informative need this kind of video more no one does like this kind of video’s awesome loved it ❤❤❤
This was honestly really great. Thank you for this
Appreciate the outtakes at the end 🙂.
Thank you so much. This video was very well done! I am a true believer in the Apple Watch fitness!
I think I'm convinced. I'm going to get the new Apple watch 10.
definitely I’m like you 😂 I love to close rings
using watch since 2018 and helped a lot with motivation
Ive heard some things regarding the accuracy of how it counts calories through heart rate? What are your thoughts?
i personally think this is the most accurate thing you can have, aside from wearing an actual chest strap monitor all day, which is not realistic lol the biggest testament to this though is the fact that i’ve been able to maintain a lean physical for the last year plus using the Apple Watch and tracking my calories! you’re never going to be 100% accurate with all of this, but i would like to think this margin of error is quite low, as long as you’re wearing the watch all day and keeping the health app updated with your current weight!
@@BryanAdamCastillo earned my sub with this detailed reply, Thank you!!
Brilliant video. I am all over my Apple Watch now. Thank-you Bryan.
heck yeah! thanks a ton! STAY AFTER IT!
You really live this lifestyle. Wow brother. Every video is superb.
Thanks Bryan. The watch is really useful.
Thank you, I've learned more about the Apple Watch and phone health app than I ever learned before. Like I did not know, I could set the rings on the activity app to a certain workout/move/stand time.
Thanks for this! I never really noticed the Total Calories on the apple watch! Thanks for the deep dive!
I’m just like you, love the details on my workouts and the Apple Watch give me that. Thanks for all the info.
