That is such a shame. After the work and effort you put into that you have every right to throw your toys around your workshop! However, one of the joys of this community is the willingness to share every spect of the craft and I thank you for inviting me round 🌞
Thanks James! It would have looked even better twenty minutes later if it hadn't come apart. It would have had finish by then. Thanks for watching James!
So sorry Mike. You had a beautiful piece working there. I guess a failure now and then is to be expected. Just seems to hurt more when they come at this late stage in the game. I don’t even see a recovery for this one. On to the next one.
It was going well. It's always good to see some fail videos. Shows everyone that we all have fails and not everything always work out for wood turners. Still doesn't help the the frustration when it happens.
Man that sucked. Was looking good too. I like the shirt. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT brother
That is VERY unfortunate indeed 😢. I had a much smaller walnut bowl blow up but I was able to glue it back together and somebody visiting actually wanted it 😊
What a bummer! I watched it again in slowmo. It looks like the long extension you were sanding with started whipping a little at first, then got much worse and contacted multiple places inside tearing the piece apart.
Sh#@t that bucks! But at least you can now tell how well you did at your thickness constancy 😂 well remember wood grows on trees ( and I know you have more wood) 😂
Boy, have I ever felt the impulse behind that airborne drill when something goes wrong so far into a project. Consider adding a text layover or a voiceover to help viewers learn from your misfortune. If, as you surmise, the shaft of the sanding disc came loose in the chuck, there could be a lesson about the risk of using a long shaft and the value of checking tightness. Or perhaps inexpensive chucks come loose more easily. I am going to take more care tightening my chucks from now on, thanks for posting this.
Oh man, that hurts to watch. I know my sympathy and a buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee but my sympathy you have anyway...May the shavings gods smile more favorably on your work from now on...

I did have a bit of a tantrum. It goes with the territory! Thanks for watching!
Beautifully put Ray! 👍👍👍
That is unfortunate. It did look awesome
Thanks James! It would have looked even better twenty minutes later if it hadn't come apart. It would have had finish by then. Thanks for watching James!
Good thing those Bauer tools are pretty sturdy! I hate when I compound the problem after the fact, not that I've ever done that.😏
It did make me somewhat petulant. Oh well. On to the next one. Thanks for watching Ken!
As woodturners. We’ve all done it! Thanks for sharing.
Yep! I caught it on video... Thanks for watching!

They do hurt more when nearly done! Thanks Doug!

That is a fact! Thanks for watching!

That is VERY unfortunate indeed 😢. I had a much smaller walnut bowl blow up but I was able to glue it back together and somebody visiting actually wanted it 😊
It really did suck. Thanks for watching!

It came loose in the chuck. It happened very fast. Thanks for watching!
There’s an extra cruelty in losing a piece AFTER it’s been sanded. 😢
Truly not cool! Thanks for watching!
No words needed, stunning piece! Such a shame! 😳 Glad you were away from it when it went! So what was the cause in the end?!
My drum sander came loose in the chuck of the drill
Thanks for watching!
Enough said.
Yep. Thanks for watching!
Sh#@t that bucks! But at least you can now tell how well you did at your thickness constancy 😂 well remember wood grows on trees ( and I know you have more wood) 😂
and I had really worked a long time at getting it as thin as possible. Thanks for watching!
There is always more wood.
Yes there are! Thanks for watching!

That is good advice! Thanks for watching!

Thank you Tim! The only hurt was my pride! Thanks for watching!
You added an arrow pointing at the chuck. Did it loosen? I guess you needed fresh underwear after that!
I believe is did loosen in the chuck. Thanks for watching!
😢
Indeed... Thanks for watching!
Hope you’re okay, scary indeed!
I was fine! Except for my pride! Thanks for watching!
😢
