    Football Manager has come a long way in recent years with the introduction of the Data Hub and an expanded selection of metrics, but sometimes we need just a little bit more. I take a look at Expected Goals Chain (xGC), Expected Goals Buildup (xGB) and Expected Threat (xT) and how we can use this to understand our strengths and weaknesses.
    xG and xA
    This video assumes a certain level of understanding of xG and xA. If you want to learn more about those, check out these articles:

    Hi, I recently started playing FM again for the first time in many years and, as (sort of) a professional football analyst (you'll be able to see what I mean by that through this channel), I was pointed to your skin - which I'm very much appreciating. That lead me to this video.
    Expected Threat is definitely a statistically significant metric, and I praise its use. I strongly recommend disregarding xGBuildUp and Chain as largely irrelevant noise. Keep up the great work.

      Thank you, dude!
      Literally, the tactic discussed last episode: ruclips.net/video/vZLMXH5S-gU/видео.html - everything is fluid though. I'll start with the basic formation (Raumdeuter on the left), but substitutions, game events, game state, will result in tweaks. And there will be changes between games, too. If a player is losing a lot of the ball, they might get Take Fewer Risks added or Shorter Passing, or I might add Be More Expressive if we've had a lot of the ball in previous games but were slow to release the final pass, etc... Nothing stays static.

    Amazing and informative video, and i love it through and through. I use tablaeu for scout and squad management, getting Xt and chain build up is tough and time consuming. I really appreciate how you simplified it. SI could easily make these data available in the game, also I think the match analysis data should be available as a combined data of all matches. Like final 3rd entries.

      I cut the section at the end where I pleaded with SI to make this information accessible, as it is essentially already there. In so much as the events are recorded, and the game has it's own xG model, so it could be easily extrapolated, but I also appreciate that the time/reward element might not be there. Let's see what FM25 has in store!

      Yes, I find it's the most consistent angle that allows me to get a reasonable level of zoom (to feel a little closer to the action) - and all the games are recorded live. I hope that it makes putting together these videos a little more interesting.
      When playing just for myself, I'd have it on sideline view, lowest height, maximum zoom, reversed, to be as close to a "dugout" view as possible.

    Guys, somebody can explain me what the difference between key passes, open game passes, chanse created and how this is estimates game? lost possesion by player, during passing or when he drible a ball?

    • @mustermannfm
      @mustermannfm  Месяц назад

      A key pass is the pass before a shot. If the shot is a goal, it is an assist.
      An open-play key pass is a key pass that occurs in open play (e.g. not a set piece).
      Chances created are key passes that result in a shot with high xG. I do not know the exact threshold, but these are what have been referred to in previous games as Clear Cut Chances.
      Lost possession is whenever a player loses a ball. Whether it is an errant pass, being tackled, or a clearance to the opposition/out of play.

    World class data analytics . U just on another level .
    About the BTB , i would use him as Mezala support . It will gives u better box shape . With poacher striker . But thats depends on how u see ur team playing , for me i like to keep pushing with 5 on front . St , wings , mezala and AP , and 2 dms Anchor and DM .
    No wingers only wingsback . with one stricker . With 3 on the back , thats very secure and very havy when attac. Give it a try
    5 , 2 , 2, 1 , as the defenders are 2 wide center back . One PBD on cover .
    Why im telling u this ? If i told u that since fm 15 , till now , i used to use 4,3,3 and fit the players into it , would u believe that , i may change sometime but like 99% uses 4,3,3 . Now the thing is after watching u , i started to think like ok i'm going to do what mustermann doing , i wanna try to be smart as he is trying 😂😂 . Stop playing this game like i did since 2010 maybe .

    • @mustermannfm
      @mustermannfm  Месяц назад +2

      I think FM comes alive when you start to think about the details. What do I want the team doing? Which players do I want in these areas? How will I stop the opposition from scoring? And so on. Then experimenting to find the solutions with the players you've got!!

  • @willowspuppy
    @willowspuppy Месяц назад +1

    I'm 19 games into my first season with Triestina, and working up the resolve to go through and chart this for a couple hundred shots... yikes. Question, do you ignore shots from corner kicks, and I guess also penalties and direct FKs?

    • @mustermannfm
      @mustermannfm  Месяц назад +1

      It's a big undertaking, but can be super useful. Even if it is just so much as considering the broader impact players might have outside of the headline figures.
      Set pieces are included. They are still part of your chance creation and a player's contribution is valid whichever phase of play it comes from. After all, if that players weren't on the pitch that chance wouldn't have been created (although, who knows, you might have created a better chance instead).
      Penalties are also very useful because you can see the action before hand in the analysis screen, and awarding the player that wins the penalty the xGC and xA can help identify players who are causing the opposition problems.

    • @willowspuppy
      @willowspuppy Месяц назад +1

      @@mustermannfm I may be an idiot but how do you see the xG for a particular shot in the analytical view? (where you can view the linked events.)

    • @mustermannfm
      @mustermannfm  Месяц назад +1

    • @mustermannfm
      @mustermannfm  Месяц назад +1

      @@willowspuppy Everyone in the chain is awarded xGC, even if it is only 1 person. No different from a striker seizing on a wayward backpass.
