You demonstrated a very sonically powerful instrument with many cinematic sounds. IMO it would have been nice to have known the patch names you selected amongst the myriad of patch choices. Nice demonstration though of its capabilities.

I added the Wavestate to my Behringer DeepMind 12. They both send and receive MIDI program changes perfectly, #1-64 (Wavestate Set List). Playing the DM 12 gives an extra octave to the Wavestate. I can change Banks (eight) on the DM 12 to get different matchups to the Wavestate Set List.

The DM6 and Wavestate are the 2 main componants to my setup too, along with the Microfreak and Model:Cycles!
The Microfreak and Cycles are phenomenal FM sources, but I'd also like to add an Opsix asap! 🤣 And of course, the Modwave! I can't wait!
The DM basically has everything I could possibly want for analog... and the Wavestate... well... it does its Wavestate thing. Lmao.
It's just crazy... the range of just these few instruments is absolutely psychotic.

This thing layers really well with the Wavestation and modernizes the sound. I'm using it with the vst version and can control the vst vector position from the hardware. I think the Wavestate sounds really good but its missing some bread and butter sounds that the wavestation has, I wish Korg would sort this out as there needs to be a bit more variation in the presets but for now combining the two synths is a good workaround. Layering the two and it sounds better than the Roland Jupiter X stuff imo.

this should have won synth of the yr 2020 how it didnt is a surprise for me and they gave it hydrasynth but i suppose the die hards of analog are still running the show in regards to that but this won it hands down for me its a funny beast still a lot of annoying bugs in the firmware but hopefully they'll sort that out and make sure this synth lives upto its full potential and does whats written on the tin not bothered about adding ya own samples think that will just confuse people even more then it already does but its definitely one you have to spend a good day on and time working it out cause it is confusing how it works and getting it to sound right and it is pretty confusing and to some people that might seem gimmicky as in what does it actually do which to be honest sometimes i think that but its a 10/10 for me

Hello, I would love to hear your advice on buying the first serious synthesizer in my setup. At the moment I am torn between korg wavestate (my original idea), Korg Minilogue xd and Cobalt 8. I know that these are completely different engines, with different possibilities, but still I ask you to comment on this. Yes, I'm also waiting for the new Modwave to come out.
Thank you. Hello from Tallinn! 🖐️

Honestly, being in a similar position, i would advise you to wait and see what the modwave can offer. I heard that it has some strong potential, as the main argument is that it is a true synthesizer: you can build entire sounds from scratch. ( the wave state is essentially a highly advanced sampler ). I hope i helped you in your decision.

Hi dudes, i saw that korg produce another wavesynth called the mod wave. My question is what is the main idea of the wavestate and the mod wave and where are the difference. One different is this tiny joystick to switch between the layers. Is there any disadventages at the wavestate? I heard u cant upload a own sound libary but with so many sounds its not really necessary. I asked because i like to buy my first synthesizer which includes a step sequencer for programing automation layers which develop in different ways. I hope u can help me.

      @jeremymurray-wakefield8011 3 года назад +1

In the absence of anyone else answering, this is my personal understanding (I may be wrong, but I'm reasonably sure of myself here...) The wavestate basic tone generation I believe comes from stepping (or crossfading) between up to 16 choices of wave over some time (i.e. seconds to minutes) with a lot of control over the timing and fading, independently for each of four layers.
The modwave on the other hand has a pair of "oscillators" (not really oscillators) which can morph (rather than just crossfade) between two waveforms for each oscillator. There are various ways the morphing can bend from one wave into another, there is also a sub-oscillator. There are two independent layers in parallel configured like this.
For me (yes I am about to buy as well as you are!) my conclusion is although both are very flexible synthesizers, that the modwave is perhaps best for innovative, new (and perhaps screaming) lead sounds, whereas the wavestate would lend itself more to beautiful evolving pads for (e.g.) ambient.
On that basis I will myself likely be getting a wavestate, as that best suits my music.
Hope that helps, but please don't take my word for any of this, and do validate elsewhere for yourself before making a purchasing decision.

I don´t recommend the Wavestate for a first synth, it sounds beautiful but it's really complex (it's like a modular system in a box) and you could get frustrated because there's so much to understand. You'll go better with a Minilogue XD or Opsix (if digital), but I think a monosynth without presets is much better than those to learn the basics of synthesis (MS-20, ARP Odyssey, Minibrute, Microbrute). Wavestate is something unique as its core modulation is the transitions between samples (same as Wavestation), also has 4 LFOs, 3 envelopes and lots of filters; while Modwave'll have wavetables (like a PPG, Nord Wave, Hydrasynth, Microfreak), a different source of sounds more similar to analog synthesis.

@@kingtrance307 He is not an uneducated troll. In the soundbank are many sounds missing, good pianos, e-pianos and organs, classical fm-sounds and more. Many samples are not first class. Therre are many sounds too bombastic. Of course you could load your own samples. But there are some limitations not very user friendly in the sampler. All in all it is a very good synth for the price, but there are some stupid limitations which Korg correct very easily. Mostly I take my FM synth with me to concerts, not the wavestate.
