Straw is better . They are likely to eat a lot of the hay . Also put some straw on the wire floor of the cage outside the box as well . The doe will like to put it in the box herself .
I put two inches about of bedding on the bottom of my bunnies nest box then put a lot of extra hay in her cage and let her do the rest. I tried it a couple different ways but hat seems to be her preference.
i used you method and my doe hauled almost all the hay out from the nest box over night and it all ended up on the bottom of cage ...she replaced it with alfa alfa hay that I'm feeding her ...
hey how are u .......we were unaware my rabbit was pregnant we r new to this the babie r scattered among the bottom of her cage please give me helpful hints or just tell me what to do signed concerned granmama
When the day-27 if the nesting box are dirty should I clean or just leave it? Like it takes another 2 to 3 days until the doe give birth so she might be doing her business inside the nest box 🙊
WoW! 10 minute or more few minute is enough for pregnant ? After successfully breed how much days later it will give baby bunny & in the meantime no need to any breed again ?
No, just put the doe in with the buck and watch. After he does the deed two or three times (you'll know because he will briefly faint each time), take the doe out and put her back in her cage. If the breeding was successful, between 28 and 32 days later she will have kits. Just make sure you give her a nest box or other good place to keep them, or she won't take care of them.
Always put the doe into the bucks cage for breeding . 1 or 2 successful copulations is enough ( When the buck ejaculates he will fall over on his sidewhile still penetrated ) The doe should then be taken out and put back in her cage . Record the breeding date . Gestation is 30 days .
Inis s a box tray and did not put any straw in she had them outside of tray and we'll I put them in tray covered them with her fir bit sj neglected to feed them and all died so I ordered nest box
I have a female that is about to give birth (this is day 29) but she hasn't made a nest yet. I have offered her a box, but all she did was eat the hay and use it as a bathroom. A few days ago, she was taking hay and searching for a place to build a nest in her cage, but I waited a day or so to put the box in. I am afraid I've missed the time where she was going to build a nest and I am worried that she'll give birth outside of the box.
At this point, there's probably not much you can do but wait. I had a rabbit that did no prep work and that caused me to worry, but one morning we woke up and she had prepped the nest, lined with her fur, and given birth to several kits. She took care of them with no problems. That's not to say your experience will be the same, but sometimes there's not much you can do but wait and hope she does her job correctly.
A&P channel A&P channel do you have a male rabbit? If so gently touch around her stomach area to feel if she has anything moving.. or just being her to a vet.
***** In case you're interested, I have recorded some footage of the nest box building process and will release a video about that in the coming weeks. I use a very simple design that uses a single 8 ft 1x10 board.
Whether or not pine shavings are OK seems to depend on which highly educated "expert" you ask. Some recommend pine shavings, and some say it kills rabbits. There are stores that sell pine shavings specifically marketed as rabbit bedding. That's what I use and I haven't noticed any issues. Thanks for the comment.
I've used pine shavings for years even when I grew rabbits commercially. Cedar shavings on the other hand are not recommended because the mother can't smell her babies.
wrong...the sides of the box are too high for the mother bunny to hop in and out comfortably one should remove atleast one side completely, this problem is seen in most of the nest boxes the people make for their bunnies
I have learned that sides are important. Baby kits will latch on to mom's years and be dragged out of nest. Newborn kits in the winter will chill and die. House rabbits being the newish pet trend...maybe just turn up the furnace. Enjoy!

Cannot say I've seen that - but rabbits do all sorts of strange things at times. Do you have any updates for us? Any little ones yet?
At what day do you place the box on cage? Day 25, 26?
I made a video about that: ruclips.net/video/5li-jP0R6tQ/видео.html

In which age should be breead rabbit ?
5-6 months
A doe is old enough to breed at 15 weeks and a buck 20 weeks.
Do you raise mini Rex or standard Rex
No, the only rabbits I have are New Zealands.
how do they breast feed in that nest
where do you get straw from?
Local Agway or feed supply store.
when need to separate the male, after successfully breed / pregnant ?
I put the female into the male cage only for about 10 minutes, then put her back into her own cage.

you should not use pine shavings use a different type of wood shavings
