      Yes they released box sets of these quite a few years ago...what's the difference now? the cash register I suppose...i prefer mono the way we first heard them on AM radio and such, some of the stereo remixes are a pain in the ass.

      @@thomastimlin1724 Not talking about the newer box sets, I bought all the original records way back in the 60"s, still have em but I listen to the cds, lot of great songs!

    For American vinyl fans they will enjoy these sets. I'm not so sure about using the given masters Dexter received as they were mostly inferior quality. However, I'm curious about the AHDN soundtrack. That was on the UA label in the US and never officially reissued before under the digital era. The Beatles tracks were originally received over here in the US only in mono format. And then they were reprocessed duophonically (fake stereo). The George Martin orchestral excerpts, however, are in true stereo.
    For those who are unfamiliar with this US release, there are some interesting differences. Songs like 'And I Love Her', Paul's voice is mostly single tracked - as with John's lead on If I Fell. 'I'll Cry Instead' is also longer than the more familiar British counterpart. Lastly, there is no harmonica dropout in 'I Should Have Known Better'.

      These are great points you make,I had the original United Artists album of AHDN and you are absolutely right. I actually liked losing the double tracked vocals - they sounded more natural to me. esp on And I Love Her. Loved the orchestral by George Martin...so indicative of the sounds of the times in 1964. More variety...Modern listeners just don't get it lol...like "Where's the power guitar and the thumping drums and bass?" "Don't they have any rap songs?" 🤪

    On The Beatles official website store and on Universal's on-line music store, pre-orders of the 1964 US albums are listed at $29.98 each, which is fair. Buying all six individually will cost $179.88.
    The box set with the exclusive Beatles Story is listed at $299.98.
    Are they f@c%in' nuts? They're charging $120 more for a box and a crappy album hardly anyone would buy if it was sold on its own!

    I think EMI comes with all the official British albums that has not yet been remixed because they remixed half of them on the Red and Blue compilation albums last year. So most of the work is already done. So: Please Please Me, With the Beatles, A hard Day's Night, Beatles for Sale, Help, Rubber Soul, The Magical Mystery Tour and the leftovers from singles B sides and the ep from 1964. Maybe in december. Maybe they do Rubber Soul as a boxset and 2CD

    • @thomastimlin1724

      Too often remixing turns into meddling wit the way they sounded back in the day in mono.There's nothing wrong with a good mono mix, you can clearly hear things dead center rather than some Whose musical preference [and not expertise] is to turn up the drums or bass foro example, when those are supporting parts of these types of songs. The point of the songs during this era are the vocals and lyrics, melody and harmony, everything else is the support. There's an old saying, "too much medicine can kill, just the right amount of medicine can heal."

    • @gclip9883
      @gclip9883 2 месяца назад

      @@thomastimlin1724 I disagree. Mono was a technical limitation at the time, not a creative choice. There is still music made today with exactly the same instruments, that has modern stereo mixes. And the thing is that no one is hurt by having more options. I for one absolutely love the new remixes and vastly prefer them to the old stereo mix. And as an audiophile, i just get so much enjoyment out of the soundstage that is created by a great stereo mix, and the new mixes definitely deliver in that regard. But no one is stopping you from doing that.

    Finally, they way heard them in the USA, if you didn't like the USA released in Britain...HEY! it;s not our friggin' fault..it; sCapitla execs..we had reverb on may of these that Britain did not. We didn't know the difference. I would like to hear the mono the way WE heard them on AM Radio. For example often Nowhere Man in stereo played down the lead guitar parts with less volume and on 1 channel. Yech! Both channels please and turn up the guitar a bit like we heard it in Mono.

    After getting all the british releases on CD in the '80s U.S. releases became pointless, except Meet The Beatles - which has more original music and only one pointless cover; Yellow Submarine which was just a three pack of singles in England and a great LP in America, and Yesterday and Today which although has some redundancies is a killer album.

    Beatles Capitol albums are the fame of being the worst pressings of all Beatles records... What s the point of heaving this releases other than collection freezing.

  • @jayhpaq
    @jayhpaq 2 месяца назад

    The Capital albums were an abomination. Why does anyone want those?? We are waiting for them to stop jerking around with releases like the red/blue albums and FINISH the rest of the catalog with the Giles remasters. Get this done already!

    • @thomastimlin1724
      @thomastimlin1724 2 месяца назад

      I get what you're saying. I'll trust Giles before I'll trust anyone else with Beatles remixes etc. At least he has a personal stake and family reputation on the line, and seems to never disappoint. I think the pressings were, until Revolver or Sgt Peppers, a mentality that us Americans wanted to hear "hit formula" reverb excessively because that's what they were doing to most records in that era. But when they did "fake" stereo on Capital records, it was worse. For example often Nowhere Man in stereo played down the lead guitar parts with less volume and on 1 channel. Yech! Both channels please and turn up the guitar a bit, and center it, like we heard it in Mono. that kind of weird stuff. On the other hand today there are so many remixes based on musical preference over common sense, it makes me puke. Giles Martin will get it right.

    Where the hell are the UK releases from Please Please Me through Rubber Soul.
    I'm American and grew up with the Capital BS releases.
    I discovered the UK imports in 1973 and never listened to a Capitol release again. Sorry Sir Paul but this sounds like a money grab to me and I won't be putting out money for any of it. I'm not that nostalgic that I have to listen to Capitol releases to relive my childhood again.
    The only Capitol release I would buy would be MMT and maybe not. Aside from "Your Mother Should Know" and "Baby Your A Rich Man" the songs on the remix of the 66-70 MMT tracks cover enough of that record for me.
