The live Hollywood Bowl version of ‘If I Fell’ is sorely missed. I have it on the bootleg copy of the 1964 show, and I always loved it. Too bad they left it off. I first fell in love with the Beatles in 1964, when my older sister bought the Capitol Records 45 of ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’. She got Meet The Beatles for Christmas that year, and, as a 4 year old Beatle fan, I wore it out.
I agree about "If I Fell". Thanks for sharing your Beatle introduction 🙂
None of these films are true to life are they? Look at the Queen film full of misleading timelines and things have never happened! But hey if it's gets an Oscar who cares!
I'm looking forward to Living in the Material World. I'm hoping it is not brickwalled like ATMP. That was hugely disappointing If this newest one is brickwalled, I will not be any more GH anniversary editions.
@@douglasconover6109 we’ll have to wait and see. Not long now though, let’s hope it is not brickwalled as you say.
I’d like a 1000$ deluxe ultimate mixes box set of “Ringo The 4th” complete with meditation mixes and evolutionary, raw, elemental and outtakes including CD, vinyl, cassette, 8 track and reel to reel and throw in that sword from the album cover too.😂
Your wish is my command!! Peace and love [Ringo]☮️❤
@@RevolverBeatlesChannel😂😅
It was a pity it was poorly recorded on three track equipment by Capitol. There are concerts recorded by some US FM radio stations that are much more professionally mixed.
If you grew up in the United States... The Beatles "hit the big time" in early 1964. My sister was 13 and I was 9 when this happened. She instantly became a huge fan and bought every Beatles release as soon as they came out. She snapped up both VEE-Jay's "Introducing The Beatles" and Capitol's "Meet The Beatles" as well as every single. I was indoctrinated by being in the same house as my sister. Their records were being played constantly (In the morning before school, after school, all day on the weekends). She would also buy other records besides The Beatles - but JPG&R were her favorites and were easily the most played. So I became a fan almost by osmosis. By 1969, my sister had moved out, and I was buying my own Beatles albums and singles. And since she took her Beatles albums with her, I got my own copies of all their earlier records. I continued getting all their solo material - and still do. When the "Live at the Hollywood Bowl" album came out in 1977... I bought it immediately - and loved every second of it. Still do. There are even some songs where I actually prefer the live "Hollywood Bowl" version over the studio version. My personal favorite is the live "She's A Woman". Wow! Paul's vocal on that is one of his best performances - and George does an excellent job on his guitar solo. I also prefer the live version of "A Hard Day's Night" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzie". I am in agreement that the 1977 tracks have the better sound when compared with the 2016 "update". It was very nice to get a few more tracks in the 2016 version. And it would be great to get the other 4 tracks that they haven't released. Btw... I also really enjoyed getting the "Beatles Live at the Star Club" double LP which also came out in 1977. While the sound quality is not great... it is still an amazing historical recording - and a lot of fun.
Thanks for sharing your "indoctrination" story ... a familiar one I'm sure. "She's A Woman" certainly has a superb vocal by Paul. Maybe we'll get a MAL/PeterJackson version of Star Club in the next few years. I can't wait for that.
Thank you for saving me time. The preview seemed unimpressive.
Loving the name check, thank you! :)
It looks pretty good but there are some physical problems. John is wat=y too short, almost a midget. George looks more like Keith Richards. George Martin is also way too short. Some odd modernist dialog here and there, but that's lways a bit tough to fix. On the whole the clips I have seen would get me to watch the entire thing.
I grew up with a bootleg of the 1964 concert at the Hollywood bowl. Electrifying. Perhaps even more exciting than the 1977 album. Either one was better than the Giles remix.
1:54 Look how short John is! LMAO John Paul and George were ALL 5ft 11 inches. Ringo was 5ft 8 inches.
Such a patently absurd statement
As the video explains, it was TO ME, the most important Beatles album because it was the gateway to all things Beatles. I'm not saying it was better or greater than "Revolver" I was just saying it as a fact. It's more true for me than anyone else ... I said what I said and it was wrong or taken wrong and now it is all this ;-)
@@RevolverBeatlesChannel haha love the John/Jesus reference!
While I welcome any take on the people, music and story of the Beatles, I still thought this film missed the mark on the relationship between Epstein and the Beatles, and while it was sympathetic to his private life it still didn’t really explain his fears over his personal management and eventual unhappiness and sad death. For example, despite some historical one liners between the characters it ignored the important one when Epstein offered some musical advice to them in a recording session only to be put in his place by Lennon telling him to handle the money and leave the music to them… a snapshot in the relationships between the five of them….
This is an important Beatles album i agree with you and the packaging is better than Ron Howard eight days a week! They need to remix live at the Hollywood bowl with Peter Jackson AI technology clean it up and remix it and reissue it 2025 technology with the extra songs you mentioned! Thanks great video enjoyed it!
@@johnalello9233 I agree about reworking the album properly. Thanks for your comments about the video.
I was a Beatle fan, and I am probably about your age, in mid- America. My cousin's parents had a copy of the Vee Jay "Introducing the Beatles". Amazing stuff. We listened to it over and over, and learned to play music from that one album. I bought the Live at Hollywood Bowl album when it first came out. One of my first. It was amazing.
I was born in the sixties and am a bit of a Beatles fan. My father introduced me to Beatles vi open reel tapes. We were living in Singapore and as result I have always preferred Capital records version of Help - not a good as Parlophone version in terms of Beatles music but I loved the packaging. Another reason I loved the Beatles that when I was five I was given Liverpool FC football strip. Thanks
No Shea Stadium, no Sgt Pepper, and most tellingly, no Beatle music. No scenes of his demise. Paul was very good, but why was the George character 6 foot 2?
George looks like a Rolling Stone in this.
I'm happy for you that you love music so much and that this was your inspiration. I was 14 in 1964. One thing was very clear to me: the Beatles were a band for hysterical girls. It took me a long time to start appreciating them a bit.
Sorry it’s a miss for me.
i went into this with some trepidation...i can honestly say its absolutely brilliant, ignore all the little inconsistencies, i kept me riveted from minute one...i implore everyone to watch this...ITS FAB !
I’m glad you were able to see past the “inconsistencies” and were able to enjoy it so much 👍🏻
Good review. I'm disappointed with Midas Man. With a cultural phenomenon as big and important as The Beatles they should have really put more effort into the finer details, as you've correctly highlighted. 'Backbeat' or even 'Nowhere Boy' are much better films.
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that Backbeat and Nowhere Boy were better productions all round.
This film is not about the Beatles! But it's about Brian Epstein
It was good to hear in this Review that it was thought that of the casting of the Beatles, the one of Paul was the best. It is my great nephew Blake Richardson who plays Paul. He plays in the New Hope Band.
Yes, since usually the person cast as Paul is the worst.
Yep,. aul was the best match up with the real Paul.
Parts of the Beatles’ Washington performance are inaudible, not helped by George’s microphone failure and Ringo’s often drowned out vocal. How can all this be reinstated?
If it’s not there, that’s that. If it’s hidden but subdued then maybe MAL can assist. Time will tell.
"dad, were they as big as the bay city rollers" LOL
It's my favorite album of all time, and I've been saying for like 36 years now "it's their best album ever!", then the studio albums. I like all their albums, but to me this is the best, if you have to show somebody that asks "what is The Beatles?" THIS is The Beatles. they were amazing live, the live versions are awesome, they rocked harder and it's like "GUYS!!! YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER LIVE!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU PLAY LIKE THAT IN THE STUDIO???!!!". I'm obsessed with Hollywood Bowl, and for the record, I prefer the original yellow cover release, George Martin's mix has more "punch" than the newer remastered version. The new one sounds a little bit cleaner but lost the "depth" or "punch", and I HATE THE NEW COVER. YOU DON'T REPLACE THE ALBUM COVER OF AN OFFICIAL ALBUM!!!.
Thanks for your comments. I agree particularly with your views on the 2016 “re-issue”.
I can so very much relate to your presentation (and passion). Back in 1989, a friend of mine had 1962-1966 and was trying to convince me that some great music was created by those four guys. He played some songs over the phone and not long after I told him I really loved the song "Michelle". He copied a very short 20-minute tape with eight of the songs and gave it to me on my next visit. The rest is history as they say. Fast forward to today and I have about 12 different vinyl versions of 1962-1966 (most of them different Greek pressings, honouring my country), but also some American, Japanese and German copies, not to mention tapes and different compact disc versions (no 8-tracks unfortunately). This is the record that changed my life and I want a couple of pressings on my dying bed! Simple as that...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your introduction to the Beatles. It’s always great to hear what was the trigger to someone’s Beatles journey.
I started in the early 90’s getting into the Beatles. My parents had Abbey Road, Hey Jude, The Early Beatles and 1967-1970 in their LP/cassette collection. I started with those. My first CD of my own I bought was Past Masters Vol. 2. But not long after Live at the BBC was released and I got a copy on release date. I really fell in love with their banter with the radio host and the energy of the music. Then Anthology came and I was absolutely hooked!
Thanks for your comments 👍🏻
Peter Jackson told Paul, Ringo and Apple Corp if they ever wanted to he could run the Hollywood Bowl tapes through the "Mal" system. He also now owns the original Hamburg tapes that he purchased for himself. He said the tapes were in very poor condition But he's lucky that where he works he knows some people who might help him restore them. It might cost him a beer or two! Cheers, Chris Perry.
I think that MAL could make the biggest difference to the Hamburg tapes … one day 😉
I just got my copy of AHDN 60th this weekend. I wasn’t too upset of it being a UK exclusive since we can now buy online to get shipped globally pretty much. Just had to pay that shipping and wait longer than anyone else to get it. I for one am happy there’s official Beatles colored vinyl coming out. Plus the blue Meet the Beatles in a few weeks. I’m excited for the Harrison release. Very excited actually. The U.S. 64 In Mono though. Not so much. I even cancelled my preorder on the box. So far just getting that blue Meet the Beatles. The documentary however. That I’m super excited for too. All on RSD. Which I’ll go get the single.
@@BeatleDustino it is indeed exciting and expensive Beatle times we live in. Let’s just savour the items we choose to collect. Thanks for your comment and the great work on your channel.
@ it is a great time. Hope 2025 keeps this up. Thanks for enjoying my channel. Been trying to catch up with yours. Good stuff so far.
2:42 The actor that played Pete Best looked nothing like him. There is a Chapter in Pete's Autobiography titled the BOMBSHELL where he described how he was 'sacked' by Brian. Pete doesn't describe it like it in Midas Man.
1:42 They did in fact shoot in Abbey Road, studio 2 which was the exact same studio.
Sorry I wasn’t clearer but I was referring to the external shot as Brian walked over the crossing with the bizarrely placed VW Beetle. Thanks for clarifying though 👍🏻
Funny you mentioned their height, it was one of the things Paul complained about the actor playing him nowhere boy. I'm pretty much a neophite about them, only having a superficial knowledge about them, did find it entertaining.
Its advertised on Amazon, but it is not available
HOORAY! HOORAY! HOORAY! The Washington Concert is HISTORIC and should have been released on Blu-Ray/4K years ago! This concert alone makes this a MUST HAVE! I will purchase this the very instant it's available!
The reason they used the wrong songs is because it's very expensive to buy the rights to a Beatles song. The average Beatles song costs 250,000$, that's almost half the films entire budget! Therefore the film could NOT afford any of the proper songs played at certain performances.
is that roger daltrey on your shirt?
I think, possibly due to copyright, as you said no Beatles music which was sadly missing, I also noticed the actor playing John Lennon was the wrong height, but overall I was 15 when the Beatles broke so enjoyed this nostalgic trip. I bought the Beatles jacket and boots, and still have their first three original albums with my comments on each song, on Spotify they are still my most played sixties artists. Did you know the Epstein store was actually filmed in Blackpool!
And the height thing would've been easy to fix, without recasting. You can use forced perspective, heels, a box etc...
John was like a midget.
Hi mat. Well we do get this tomorrow. So I am glad you did see it but I am going to pass on watching my friend. I sure do look forward to it all the best!!!
Hiya Brad, I’ll be interested to know what you think once you’ve seen it.
It’s not shown in France
Nor in the US
@@BenAdam-om2hr Japan also!
Too bad. Thanks a lot.
Only 9😢
It is pretty tough. Better luck for the next quiz 😉
We all live in the “money grab period” generally, however, We all have a possibility to buy or not. For me: YES for AHDN just for the 60th ann. NO for John’s Meditation (after the Cube another grab from Yoko&Sean. NO, for the issues from Capitol-these are not even copies of the origins. YEAH, looking forward to the film Beatles in the U.S.
Where is Let It Be on Blu-ray and one hand clapping on Blu -ray?
I'm in the States and I bought the 60th anniversary issue of AHDN. It's a milestone I agreed with so I bought it. I won't be getting any of the Lennon Mind Games issues. For me total waste of money to get so many versions of one track. Not interesting enough for me....Cmon and release some live shows that we'd love to have!!
Want more?!?!The Capiphone project!!Hopefully,next year!!
Looking forward to the Capital American 🇺🇸 Beatles Vinyl reissue’s & George Harrison’s Living in the Material World 🌎 & Ringo Starr’s New Country Album, Coming out January 10th 2025!
Seeing the name Revolver Review, I was hoping that the news was that there was a blu ray of Revolver coming out. It was such a disappointment when the box set came out filled with nothing but CDs. Hearing about the new technology that allowed for a full surround remix, I was psyched, only to be let down. Why give us physical media of Sgt. Pepper, the White Album, Abbey Road, and Let It Be, just to drop the ball on Revolver. I don't suppose I should get my hopes up for Rubber Soul.
Great video, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated 😎
I won't be buying a hard days night, but I've been foolish with other collaborators things.
I bought 2 copies of white ahdn off beatles uk store.
