Started learning last week. I think polish is the most beautiful language in the world so to me personally, it is worthy the challenge regardless how hard it is
my Polish mom failed to teach me and my siblings Polish while growing up but i think i will finally learn it for her. maybe travel there again in the future. she took me and my sister to Poland to see our family there not too long ago and we met 2 different types of people. 1 kind kept telling me i should know Polish or should have learned it by now, and the other couldn’t understand why i would want to learn Polish of all languages. thank you for these videos they really help!
English is also difficult. For example, to make the plural of 'woman', you change the 'a' to an 'e' - 'women'. But the only change to the sound of the word is in the first vowel, the 'o' which has remained an 'o'. So you change one vowel, but it is the unchanged vowel which is pronounced differently. Crazy!
Sorry to break it to you, but English is the easiest language in the world and if anyone doesn't know how to speak it, it's straight up embarassing. Go learn Polish before making comment like that.

Great video, Pani Monika! The title is perhaps better for the RUclips algorithm, but it doesn’t do justice to how helpful this video is. It’s an excellent overview of the Polish language that allows learners to know what to expect when studying Polish. Just knowing how the words have different endings or transform is so important because we can realize that these are all just different forms of the same word rather than thinking of them as separate words. Do you do group or private lessons on Zoom/Skype?

As a Ukrainian-learner who grew up in a russian speaking household I quite obviously find lots of these stuff (grammar, vocabulary, sounds) very similar and familiar - yet at the same time different, unique and most certainly - fascinating! Węgierski rząd pozwolił sprzedawać książki do gramatyki języka polskiego z powodu podobieństwa języka polskiego do węgierskiego. Dyktator Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe nie ma pojęcia o istnieniu Polski, dlatego nie zakazał ich sprzedaży. Niestety, szaleńcy, którzy chcą zamieszkać w Polsce i zdobyć polskie obywatelstwo muszą przebrnąć przez przynajmniej 42 tomy z podstawami gramatyki języka polskiego. To tłumaczy niezwykle wysoką ilość odmów przyznania polskiego obywatelstwa.
As a Bulgarian, I completely agree that defining a language as “difficult” to learn is a very flexible definition, because, for example, to me, the hardest thing is the cases, just because in my native language such things do not exist, but everything else is there, which makes it even fun to learn. However, every new language has its challenging aspects but If you are willing to give the maximum, then you can learn anything and in no time. In my country, we say :” If there’s a will, there’s also a way”. (My appeal to everyone not to give up, before they’ve tried only because they’ve heard that it isn’t easy)
I like this approach of emphasizing the easy parts of the Polish language. I'm surprised people don't think Chinese and Russian are much harder, because of completely different characters.
Thank you very much for this comprehensive overview on the Polish language. I am encouraged to take it on now. I was discouraged by the pronunciation of the consonants and the verb conjugation but I see now the other positive aspects in your language.
Excellent overview! I have already learned a lot. Also I agree with your closing statement about an interesting language adventure and exercise. As a speaker of Czech myself, I already see a lot of similarities but also a lot of differences. Based on my knowledge of Czech and Ukrainian I hope it will be easier to grasp Polish. There are many words and grammar constructions similar to both those languages. Wasza lekcja bardzo mi się podobała. Dziękuję!
Before watching this video, I was approaching this language differently. I've been living in poland for 2 years and, carried some ideas about the language of course. However, those rumors and secondhand thoughts about the language is not true actually. People criticisize Polish mostly for process of changing all words. And for me its the hardest part actually as well. But after learning the rules, as you indicated in the video, its not that much hard. Because the process of itself also contain in different language in a similar way. For example I know Turkish and English and for me, that "cases" thing is kinda similar but in a different way. Verb aspect thing is alike english tense thing but in the sense meaning. After comparing those features with your current knowledge about the languages, the only thing which you need to actually is memorizing and implying the rules to new things. Of course like every language, it has some special things which you need to understand and learn
Very good summary. But I would add one more difficult feature for English speakers: DIMINUTIVES OF NOUNS. Examples: pies - piesek (dog - little dog) szklanka - szklaneczka (glass [of tea] - little glass) okno - okienko (window - little window)
I have only been learning Polish the past few days and finding it good and enjoyable to be honest. My boyfriend has visited Krakow a few times and can speak troche po polsku. Hope I got that right.🤗. Hope to take a trip over to Krakow next year. Everything takes time to learn but loving it.

In German you also could say: "Markus und Anna lieben einander." So the verb isn't at the second position. 🤷🏻♂️ In Questions the verb often is at the beginning: "Fahren wir in den Urlaub?", ebenso im Imperativ (Tryb rozkazujący): "Gib mir das Buch!"

@@PolishwithMonika Wiedziałem już, co miałaś na myśli. Po prostu nie chciałem, żeby mój język ojczysty robił tak sztywne wrażenie. 😉 Pod wielomi punkti, o których mówisz w filmie, wydaje mi się, że język niemiecki plasuje się nieco pośrodku między polskim i angielskim. Na przykład „mein/meine” nie zmienia się (jak po angielsku) z liczby żeńskiej w liczbie pojedynczej na żeńską w liczbie mnogiej , np. Np. „Meine Katze…” i „Meine Katzen...”. Jednak z rodzaju męskiego w liczbie pojedynczej na mnogą z pewnością następuje zmiana (więc jak po polsku), np. Np. „Mein Hund…” ale „Meine Hunde...”. Myślę, źe jest takie same z przypadkami gramatycznymi. Mamy więcej zmian w słowach niż w języku angielskim, ale mniej niż w języku polskim.
Hello! I was wondering if you have any suggestions of how to start with your videos or how to learn Polish properly? One side of my family speaks polish and we are going to visit them soon and I want to pack in as much of a base as I can so I can at least get a point across even if it is not the proper way of saying it.
Hi, you could use the order of my videos as in the playlist "Polish for Beginners": ruclips.net/p/PLjmevIlHkTgjMnK5t4t3P5zuwUXXySEy3. Or you can check out my course "Build up your Polish" that can help you quickly get the basics: Build up your Polish: ruclips.net/p/PLjmevIlHkTghvLNIBjAZrBPeLNngNuvuL

Nice video, definitely is challenging, now i'm also learning Slovak, and it helped me that there are similar tconcepts like cases. Are there differences in polish language between regions or cities in Poland?
All the Slavic languages are hard for people who speak Germanic languages. Polish has the Latin alphabet in it's favour (with some weird dots, apostrophies and squiggles over/under letters) but i'd say it's likely easier than having to learn a Slavic language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet. For someone like me that has only ever known English, Polish words just look like WIFI passwords to me 😆

I think the most difficult thing is "pronunciation" in Polish. If you don't know the words you can not read. It's classic but so correct "sh/ch/j/c sounds all time side by side and this is gettin hard your mouth also 😄
I am Polish and I would ask this question following way Is Polish difficult ? Answer it is not Polish, Russian,Czech, Serbian belong to the same familly of languages and their nations also belong to the one Slavic family We Poles prefer using hard - twardy , heavy - ciężki , difficult - trudny
I am interested in learning slavic languages, mainly Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Czech, Serbian, etc. But the reason why I am atempting to learn polish first is because I want to live in Poland.
Dziękuję za wspaniałe filmy! Są one bardzo pomocne. I've been thinking a lot about gender in Polish language from the point of view of trans and non-binary people. Hope you might be able to help with this!

Jednak z rodzaju męskiego w liczbie pojedynczej na mnogą z pewnością następuje zmiana (więc jak po polsku), np. Np. „Mein Hund…” ale „Meine Hunde...”.
Myślę, źe jest takie same z przypadkami gramatycznymi. Mamy więcej zmian w słowach niż w języku angielskim, ale mniej niż w języku polskim.
No creo que haya lenguas difíciles. Cuando te gusta algo buscar la forma y formas creativas.
Yes. Very!

Polish people are super friendly and helpful
That's very nice to hear!
Polski is lovely and acceiant laungue.
What books for self study will you recommend?
You arę The obły native Polish speaker that i know that says: “It looks overwhelming but you can do it!” They are saying: “too hard, just focus on pronouncing my Polish name correctly because you are close to us, so we are no longer using English names

Polski jest czarna magia dla mnie
I think the most difficult thing is "pronunciation" in Polish. If you don't know the words you can not read. It's classic but so correct "sh/ch/j/c sounds all time side by side and this is gettin hard your mouth also 😄
It's not though according to the fsi it's category 4 not 5
Verb aspects also exist in ukrainian
I am Polish and I would ask this question following way
Is Polish difficult ?
Answer it is not
Polish, Russian,Czech, Serbian belong to the same familly of languages
and their nations also belong to the one Slavic family
We Poles prefer using hard - twardy , heavy - ciężki , difficult - trudny
Μy language, Greek, is difficult for many foreigners...
And for me, polish is not easy... Mostly in the pronounce..
moja piękna 😉
If not yet… you should teach professors to teach others. Your way sounds more easy and definitely have more clear understanding.
I leraning from today but pranaunsesan is dificalt
Polish isn't difficult. It's impossible!

'Ono' feels a bit demeaning somehow...
Very easy compared to Hungarian
Oh, saying that to Polish people is a bad decision, really
Is Polish hard? Tldw: Yes
I feel difficulty while pronouncing
how are you now a day .i am interesting to see you
Polski język nie jest trudny, trzeba tylko lubić jego i będę ciekawo. Nie pieprz wieprza pieprzem pietrze, bo przipieprześ wieprza Pietrze!
