The Norwegian weather was like, “Not today magnus!” But in all seriousness he doesn’t warm up usually cuz he’s indoor in most of his vids where it’s room temp. Magnus imma go bouldering outdoors today and try to do a vlog style video like yours.
@@ericconnor3728 We can only hope. He uses more chalk than anyone I have ever seen. In the 80s it was referred to as white courage. The idea is to use as little as possible and not become dependent on it. I was very disappointed to see him cleaning, pre-chalking, and tick marking holds. That's half the fun figuring out the route.
29:40 One of the first things you learn as a law student in Norway is property law, and it covers (among other things) what Magnus talked about. I was surprised to learn that "allemannsretten" roughly translated to "every man's right", is quite unique to Norway. We don't have to worry about who owns a property. As long as it isn't "innmark", typically a fenced in area around your house and driveway (everything else is "utmark"), you have a right by law to walk, horseride, bike, ski or even camp there for up to three straight days. You can also forage berries and mushrooms, but you can't fell trees or shoot game without permission.
@@libb3n Kinda exactly the same in Sweden. Also you are allowed to walk beside a field, walking through would damage crops so that's illegal. A newly harvested field is ok thou. Also you are allowed to pick branches and sticks from the ground but not break them from trees, this includes dead brances. Pastures are also leagal to pass through but on own risk. Passing a pasture can be tricky if there's just one gate, specialy if the fence is electric or there's an unfriendly bull there. 😁
Same in Finland, you're allowed to pick berries, mushrooms, dead branches etc. but you can't dig around, take moss, start an open fire on ground or cut trees without the permission of the landowner. You can stay in a tent as long as you'd like.
It's similar in Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and Scotland as far as I know. I'm only regularly in Switzerland, but you're allowed to sleep in a tent for up to two days if I recall correctly, and the "Jedermannsrecht" can be restricted if places need to be protected from visitors (like new forestation and stuff) Starting fires/picking mushrooms is restricted in some places/times and you can't destoy nature (obviously), but otherwise you're fine

I love when Magnus climbs outside - I know he has said they don’t get as many views but I hope he keeps them coming. I’d like to see him use some of those cams and go trad climbing.
After all the video's in the US, I kind of forgot how much Magnus loves climbing, but I'm super happy to see how much fun Magnus has while climbing and working a boulder.
This was much better than the indoor climbing vids. Nothing beats going out boulder hunting, finding one and cleaning it and then working problems. Great vid Magnus. Give us more like this.
Would love to see a trip to the US where you did a whole series on climbing el-capitan, that would be amazing - your production quality is just so good.
As a new climber, I found the way you detailed your process of creating and conquering the -route- boulder problem fascinating. Great information. Thank you for all your hard work Magnus!
Did my first outside bouldering session yesterday, and I agree that sensations are amazing. It's far more intense than bouldering in a climbing gym, you have to be careful to each others, to make sure everyone is hitting the crashpad, you have to commit much harder to reach the top and the variety of routes options are great (You can put a foot tip where no one noticed before, u can explore usually a lot of techniques your learnt, nothing is THE solution, as in a defined route) . And most importantly, it's often lost in nature, so you just chill in a forest ... can only advise you to try if you didn't ;)
We appreciate your commentary on the issue of chipping, and modifying natural routes. You explained it perfectly. It's extremely valuable for notable people in the sport such as yourself to spread awareness about conservation issues.
one of my favourite videos you've made Magnus I really enjoyed seeing how you prepped the climbs and maintained the rocks. The return to vlog style videos has been great!
Never been interested in rock climbing until I started watching your vids! Also you’ve inspired me to get back into calisthenics and try out climbing. Happy to be subbed. And thank you!
I have been re-watching a few of the old vlogs this days and now that I see this one, man... what a long way have you come! Your climbing is just as powerful and astonishing as ever, but your videos, Magnus! how you talk to the camera, the intros, the edits, the b-roll... and just the overall flow of the video 👌👌. Content was always quality, but how you present that content has improved tremendously and it feels so good to see how your persistence brought you here and that your passion hasn't go down a bit 💪. I love your channel! Keep those videos commin'!

These are the kind of videos I missed from you, it reminds me of your old vlogs you did when you begun with this channel and I really liked it. you should do more videos like this
Long time subscriber and this was definitely one of my favorite videos you've ever put out. Loved seeing you create boulders outside and talk about the etiquette. Just felt really genuine like you were totally in your element. Norway is breathtaking!
i love to see you climb outdoors! i myself am not a hunge fan of indoor climbing - being outside is just more relaxing to me, and having to figure out the holds on a rock face feels more intuitive and very rewarding :)
magnus and markus you guys are killing it on the last two videos ! not just the video but the musics too. its so chill and fun ! really great work guys ! ( im hyped af can you tell but the exclamation marks lol )
Glad to see you are able to find ways to upload through all this mess. I’ve always liked messing around climbing smaller rocks but your videos have inspired me to try bouldering and other stuff. Hopefully I can make time for it between school and two jobs
I watch all your videos and this one is my favorite of your more recent ones. Very cool climbing, but I really liked learning more about how to properly prepare a boulder, some of the terminology and resources out there. Very cool. Thanks!
It’s great to see you out and showing good etiquette to your viewers. I agree with every point you made. Let keep the boulders and climbs for the future generations :)
Thank you for this video!! I live at the very southern tip of the Appalachians (Auburn, Alabama) and much of the bouldering down here is undeveloped. I haven't found much material on how to go about cleaning and developing boulder problems, and this video gives me a really good sense of how to go about things and how to think when I'm going about this work. Knowing about chipping is really useful as well. Much of the rock here is sandstone. So informative, thank you!
Great video and explanation about the rules. Also your land of your ancestors is so beautiful. Enough space for everyone and all different climates. We have a house in the South of France with some land and boulders. Next time (winter) that I will be there, I'll bring a steel brush to find out the possibilities in our garden. I will try to take some pictures and post it here.
I created a boulder area with a friend months ago, we had to clean a lot of bushes and stuff but it was really cool and once we finished we felt really satisfied
Love the outdoor climbing videos again! Really inspiring. May be worth mentioning in your next video for people who are new to this to check out information on bird nesting, animal conservation, leave no trace and not brushing unused parts of the boulder. Loved this video dude. Keep it up
Anyone else watching how high some of the boulders he is doing and wondering how high he would boulder without a rope? Loved this blog, just so happy and relaxed.

The quarantine has dratecly changed Magnus

He said it was pretty cold on the farm so that probably contributed to why he warmed up.
