Google Chrome might be the most popular browser on planet earth but that does not make it immune to problems. And one of the common problems many faced is with Chrome sound not working.
That might sound too trifle an issue but it also is one that can be most frustrating; more so when all other apps on your device playback sound except Chrome.

The audio in the Chrome browser may not work due to an outdated version of Windows. Also, we cannot ignore a corrupt sound driver. Some conflicting browser extensions can also stop Chrome from playing the audio. There is no set pattern of how and when this error happens to a user. In some cases, some users were able to play the audio for a short period after restarting Chrome before the issue emerged again. Also, there are reported cases when a user encounters the error while pausing or resuming the audio.
Before proceeding with the solutions to fix the sound problem in Chrome, try to play audio from another website. Do not forget to check if audio is working fine in other applications. You are right, I ran it in Firefox that has sound OK. But all the explanation is about Windows, I run Linux, so no help for me here
I was watching this video without any sound in ms. edge 😅
The control panel way works for me. However in my HP laptop,
there is no enhancement tab. (or was it because it uses windows 11, not sure).
So what I did was uncheck "HARDWARE ACCELERATION" and
"SIGNAL ENHANCEMENTS" under the "ANDVANCED" tab.

I only had issue with no sound on Chrome. I went to System Settings - Sound - Advanced Sound Options - There I found that Chrome was muted, so I simply unmuted it. That resolved the issue instantly.
I would like to thank the maker of this video. The solution I found for my problem was not mentioned here, but I could not have reached that page without the help of this video.
P.S. I'm using Windows 10

you know you're watching a clueless tutorial when the person in the video recommends you using windows troubleshooter.
All of your audio files listed in the JavaScript code MUST be named as HTTPS, not HTTP. And obviously, that means the website(s) you are linking to (including yours) must be secure. That is, you need to have your security certificate, and make sure it is activated. It's a security issue with Chrome. I hope that helps. God bless.

If this doesn't work for some of you
Click the sound icon on your taskbar, Scroll down until you see advanced options or other options. Click Audio And Video Preferences and this works like a "Volume Mixer" Where now you can increase the volume of google chrome. (Works on any browser)
This usually happens if any major changes regarding your laptop have happened like getting it downgraded or any windows update. It can also happen if you're just dumb and installed some shady app or .exe file.

My settings doesn't look like this one but I have enabled "sites can play sound" the first option and still I do not have sound on youtube on google chrome, but if I use Opera I have sound on youtube without any problem. Any help from you I will be grateful. I woud like to have sound on youtube on google chrome again.

In my sound settings in the control panel, I don't have the enhancements tab. Also, the audio in Chrome works for one RUclips video, then stops working when clicking onto another video. I've replicated the issue by opening a new tab, a new window and an incognito window. When I uninstall and reinstall Chrome, I go back to square one with only one video playing audio and no others will after clicking off of it. This issue does not occur in FireFox or Edge, and I'm on the 21H2 Windows update. System volume is unaffected by this as well. I'm going to reinstall my audio drivers just to test it out and see what happens, but if anyone has any suggestions or is having a similar issue, please let me know.
EDIT: Drivers didn't do anything, they're fine

@@WillieJay I noticed this is also only happening on my Windows 10 imaged Surface Pro, does not replicate across to my desktop or testing laptops. Not sure what this is all about. What about you? Does it seem device specific?
@@ReallyJustPlainProductions ight so i was able to fix it, the problem was that google was tryna find multiple outputs instead of limiting to one working one and i went to setting, then sound, then advanced sound options and set goodie to the only working one and BOOM, no restart no refresh just sound 😂

Did not work for me. Sound works in media player and in Firefox. Does not work in Chrome no matter what I tried. Only worth so much of my time. Wasted 1-2 hours. Weird.

Nothing has worked. This only is happening on my Google Chrome. When I try to go to advanced sound settings in the chrome app there is no option for sound. My device works on Microsoft Edge, Safari, Even Internet Explorer. Im sick of this. Uninstalling Chrome for the 3rd time today and not reinstalling the trash.

In my sound settings is missing Enchantments TAB in my google chrome sound settings SOUND is allowed from sites and i still losing Sound of google chrome From last night I delte the google chrome and reinstalled it and still buging I have sound for example only on first video then in seccond viedeo if i watch i los it or if i refresh the page
