Amazing timing - I’ll be based here this summer for a glorious four weeks!
What is the odds that I would see a video make mention of Freiburg with this time next week making it exactly a year since I’ve moved away from this charming town. Locals possibly take it for granted but for myself while being a foreigner and having lived in Freiburg it gives off such a unique nostalgia that I couldn’t imagine experiencing anywhere else. I would tell anyone to go out of there way to make a visit. If someone was to arrive to Germany in Frankfurt it’s totally worth the 2 hour train ride to make for a visit!
We loved visiting the Écomusée d'Alsace in Ungersheim (between Colmar and Mulhouse) while visiting to see Christmas markets. It was fascinating to see the various historical buildings and work/craft functions. I hope to visit again to see what it's like during the main season.
My man wolter Strasbourg is my favorite city of France i visited lot of cities in France and neighborhood countries and really i loved Strasbourg and the bordering city of Germany its so safe so chill I love it! I got tired of south France pretty quickly
Strasbourg, Colmar .. absolutely beautiful!!
Great video. Love the advice to get off the beaten path and see smaller towns!! Thank you. Hope you have another live chat soon.
Last year we drove down the Rhine, staying in Bacharach and Heidelberg before driving to Stasbourg for the day, ending at Alsace town of Ottrot for the night. Visits to the smaller towns North of Colmar is a must (Rinquewihr and Ribeauville). We spent a day in Colmar and visited Basil for lunch on our way to Bern. A fabulous trip!
Also, Mulhouse has the best car museum I've ever seen, if you're into that sort of thing 🚗🚙
🥇 Excellent content & story-telling as always, and the transitions are brilliant…sehr gut & merci!! 🙌
Thanks Scott!
You're always welcome here in Strasbourg Mark !
Merci Simon!
Another great Wolters World video!
You left out Europa Park, it's amazing
amazing video editing! beautiful
Great Video Mark
Smart. Very smart video!
👍👍👍
Wow great timing! I'm heading there to visit the parliament next week!
Think you for great tips. Chaos
The mountains, les Vosges, whether its going to Munster, le lac noir, Gerardmer, hiking near the waterfall of Nideck, the castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg, the many, many castles in the mountains overlooking the plane of Alsace... There's a lot. But don't go to Mulhouse unless you have a specific reason. Some of the small towns around Mulhouse, like Thann, are beautiful.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am surprised you did not suggest Karlsruhe, Germany. Attractive well laid out city from the Baroque era. Similar distance from Strasbourg as Freiburg, and another great gateway to the Black Forest. Karlsruhe has two other claims to fame. Its tramway system (now underground in the pedestrianised city centre) is often regarded as a model for the rest of the world. Secondly, and for Americans in particular, it is the home of Germany's two most important courts. the Bundesgrichthof and the Bunderversfassungsgericht. The latter deals with constitutional matters, and is often compared to the United States Supreme Court.
That is why we ask for people to add more spots for day trips. So your comment is super helpful! Thank you!
@@WoltersWorldShorts And if you like the bathes, from Strasbourg you can go (by car is easier) to Baden-Baden, famous for its celtico-roman bathes. Swimming in a outside pool of warm water, while it's cold or snowy is an incredible sensation.
We are planning to visit Baden Baden this coming summer thanks!@@thierryf67
Hi Mark and Jocelyn! I love your videos and would love to visit Alsace. I was wondering if you recommend Strasbourg or Colmar for a home base? I'd love to do all the day trips you mentioned :) thank you!
You get on a wine route in France and get served wines with at least German Names. That tells many facettes of Europe's history.
Is Baden-Baden worth a day trip? I love Black Forest cake and hear that's the best place to get it!
Yes. And Baden-Baden is closer to Strasbourg than either Freiburg or Karlsruhe (another place Mark failed to mention).
Yes, it is.
oh yes, and especially in winter, when it's cold and you can swim in a warm water pool outside.
What time did you film that video?!? That place was packed when we went.
Coming to Strasbourg at the end of November... will I see Christmas scenery?❤😊
👋👋👌👌👍👍
Freiburg....Sounds familiar.
Can you post a video abt Lyon France
