Just heard this song live. From about a kilometre away. While in my house. At 11pm. Darryl Braithwaite is 73 and still doing concerts in small rural Aussie towns like Wingham. Good on him.
That guitar riff... so brilliant and haunting and ahead of its time... world class , and Daryl giving it everything... lm still blown away every time l hear it and see it 🇦🇺
bloody amazing!! hit!! band! & awesome song! hearing this song as a little kid of the late 70s & 80s from family members is still one of my favourite number. Go Sherbet!
Only in the Seventies could a band have a hit like this then fade away never to see the light of day again but live on in the hearts and minds of those who remember to this day. Still touring fifty years on, who would have thought it? I'm guessing not even Darryl Braithwaite then.
I'm always listening to this on Canberra 2CA radio station. I lived in Canberra 1980-86 as a foreign student. ANU grad. I miss the 80's in Australia. Best times of my life. From Malaysia.
BEAUTIFUL MEMORY, I SEARCHED FOR THIS THEME FOR YEARS THAT I DANCED IN MY ADOLESCENCE, I RECENTLY FOUND IT AFTER MANY YEARS, ONE OF MY FAVORITE THEMES OF THAT BEAUTIFUL TIME..
Peter Holland What about the BeeGees, ACDC, Olivia Newton John, John Paul Young, TMG, Cold Chisel, Divinyls, INXS, Little River Band, Brian Cadd, Dragon, Masters Apprentices, Daddy Cool, Sherbet, Aussie Crawl, Men at Work, Angels, Flowers, etc then theres heaps of one hit wonders like Helen Reddy. Heaps of choices for best Aussie Song.

I saw them in concert at the Regent Theatre, Dunedin, NZ. Earlier that day, they an album signing at an EMI record shop. Would have been about 1973-1974. Terrific concert.
Still rocks today even after all these years, remember this when it first came out, the 60s ,70s and 80s were the best decades ever for music . Shame there isn't proper music anymore, thank God for RUclips it's the next best thing to a Time Machine. If only !!!!
I'd forgotten how good this song is; saw the album in a Tweet. I have the single - the intro is bloody awesome, and yes, it's another song with simple lyrics, which are always the most powerful. Fantastic!
So many happy memories associated to this song of my youth. Took me years to realize what a quality song it was . . . . . . but then that's why it has lasted the test of time
Brilliant song from the back end of the long hor summer of '76! I'd just started my 5th and final full year at secondary school and still look back fondly to the days of taking my Sony transistor radio on a Tuesday to hear the charts!
Great song great band. I could listen to this over and over again and never get tired!... god I miss the music that made you feel so good inside. RIP Harvey James

At least we were lucky to appreciate them and hear how good these cats from Australia were Thanks for posting this piece of music history. Howzat for a terrific base line! Amazing memories of 1976. This song is, of course about cricket; not at all about a bloke who finds his girl messing around with another guy.
I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!
I’m the same as you. I love this song but don’t know the title let alone the artist and then I heard it on the radio and somebody pick this song and bring back memories. Because I did not catch the title it drove me crazy for how many days that I end up writing to the radio station to help me out to find the song. I have to say I played it 7 times now ! Greetings from England 🥰
@@AnInsideJob-mynewbook I noticed that and wondered why he was wearing a Wednesday jacket. I expect he's not had the best of weekends, what with their greatest rivals making it back to the Prem.
I saw Daryl about five years at the Caloundra Music Festival and I thought for sure he wouldn't sing this, as many artists from old bands won't do their old stuff from the bands they left behind. But Daryl's 2016 rendition of this classic was as fresh as it was in the 1970s. Some say Daryl Braithwaite is Australia's Huey Lewis. I don't think so. I believe Daryl is way above, and his range far broader. The stand outs in his mid-2010s gigs were obviously Howzat, along with 'Horses', and a very punchy yet haunting 'You've Got the Gun'. Daryl Braithwaite turns 72 years young this January 2021, so if Covid-19 permits, go see him live if you can.
Jeez WA was the best place in the 70's. Surfing at Yallingup and Margret River , Perth, City Beach High School. I saw Sherbet in Concert in Perth and then went on to a surfing film in Subi. Fab days.

WHERE DOES OUR TIME HERE GO, LIFES SO CRUEL, SO SAD, MEMORIES ARE ALL WE HAVE LEFT, 😥
Life was much simpler back then x
I just had that listening to Take This Heart by Richard Marx on a trip down Memory Lane.
Aussie classic!!!! 1970’s, cricket on Channel 9!!! Maaaarvelous 🏏
One of my favorite songs on the 70s.
brilliant song 🎵
A breakup song becomes a cricket iconic song ....
Only the Aussies can do that
You cant beat the 70s for the most iconic music ever written. This song 🎵 by Sherbet ie a perfect example-wonderful composition.
The accidental cricket anthem. Bloody great song, always in my top 5.
I thought "Dreadlock Holiday" was the accidental cricket anthem.
It is great
Not really accidental. The cricket pun was what the whole song was built around.
Good teeth 😁
Makes me think of the Ashes 🤗
We moved to Australia just after seeing this on Top of the Pops in the UK. I thought ‘wow this place looks cool!’ And it bloody well was!
