I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up 3 times and was already in the process of getting my surgery done I wasn’t obese that’s why I backed up on my surgery day i was really young and I was this close to getting into the process I did the process of bariatric surgery like 3 times I even did the classes, the testing and etc, but till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery and weight loss injections ‘ I did my research about bariatric surgery, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😌

I have type 2 diabetes and I take Metformin. I’m also on hypertension meds. I occasionally have acid reflux I weigh 268 lbs . What would be the better surgery with a higher success rate for me?
How do they stop the stomach acid from leaking out when they cut stomach? Also, the part they are cutting away has the stomach acid, does that mean they've removed it all? Also, Where does the acid go if the body reproduces it as there is no "dip" space for the food to sit in and be digested. I hope this comment makes sense.

@JChan-ru2hf With the sleeve, you are going to still have acid reflux it will be worse if you had it before surgery. If you didn't have acid reflex, you will. If you have the gastric bypass and you're a diabetic it will go away instantly. The doctor's gets most people by saying if the sleeve doesn't work, you can get the gastric bypas, but if you get the bypass, you can't get the sleeve it's a scare tactic. The bypass is the best, the surgery takes a little longer and cost a little more than the sleeve but in the end most people who get the sleeve end up getting the bypass down the road because of the acid reflux.
You are making errors in your presentation. 1. The RNY does NOT remove the stomach… only the VSG does that. 2. The RNY is theoretically reversible to a large extent, while the VSG is not.
You're right, unfortunately we only caught these errors much later on. This info will be updated in a future video. Thanks for the heads-up and sorry for the inconvenience.
@@frick6946 Roux-en-Y is the one where you keep all of your stomach, it is just bypassed by taking a small pouch and attaching it to the small intestine. Vertical Sleeve is the one that removes most of your stomach completely. RNY can be reversed with difficulty, but you cannot reverse a VSG
Your right! In some cases a bypass is reversible, but the surgery is complicated and risky. So surgeons (at least the ones I work with) will usually only do it if it's actually causing you serious problems. It also depends on exactly how the bypass was done, and in some cases it cannot be safely reversed. I tend to just simplify it for patients and say that it's basically irreversible since there is no guarantee you can have your bypass reversed in the future, and even if it is reversed, your stomach will not likely work like it did before.
Since it can be reversed, does that mean the original stomach is closed off and stays in the body and doesnt cause any problems? Idk why but I thought they removed it like when they sleeve a portion of the stomach & pull it out. Wouldn't the empty stomach still cause extreme hunger by not being fed? I'm trying to learn about this because I just got reccomended for bariatric surgery, but this is the first I've heard of gastric bypass being reversible.

If you give me 5k you are a candidate
Iam around 200 lbs .. with back pain, diastatis recti, can i do the gastric sleeve?
Gastric bypass is the better choice over the gastric sleeve.
Why?

Can you do gastric sleeve surgery twice if you gain your weight back? And if not what can I do to loose my weight?
You could do revision surgery, where they might make your sleeve smaller, but whether it can be done depends on your situation.
@@BrianYeungND thank you! So far I'm in good health. So I'm does that mean that I have to go through all the tests again even for a revision?

is the RNY the same as gastric bypass; how can that be reversible? It cuts out most of your stomach.
