The more pro a channel is, the fewer subscribers it has. This is one of the best channels for filmmaking gear on RUclips. You’re doing an amazing job, and deserve 20x the subscribers you currently have, and believe that you will get there as people become more savvy.
Interesting is that just before this whole covid19 thing, I had several manufacturer wanted me to do the first review of their lights. I said I only have 6000 followers, shouldn't you go to someone with 150k subscribers. They said their marketing teams looked at my subscription list and noted that I have 20+ big industry lighting companies as subscribers, who each have the potential to buy 100's of the lights.
Gaffer & Gear excellent point, but it would also be nice if you were rewarded properly for your meticulous effort in providing our community with those services.
Andrew I have to show my appreciation for such detailed and amazing reviews. You my friend turned Light reviews in a piece of art. Being light savy for over 10 yrs I can say you are the best light reviewer ever in all platforms. My huge Thank you, and may god bless you even more! Have a great one Mate!
Thanks, this is so incredibly helpful. I recently shot a warehouse studio dance sequence using P300c’s along with 600 & 1200D’s and now wish I’d watched your presentation beforehand. Valuable information so clearly delivered.
Your reviews are unbelievably clear and thorough - just wanted to chime in! My employer is building a studio and we decided to go with 10 of these lights there. The output and control vs. cost is just magnificent! I found your channel after the lighting decision was made, but it's still nice to get a confirmation that we went the right way :). BR. Amazing review. It convinced me to buy a Nova P300c of my own. Compared to my Litepanels gemini 2x1 it is about the same brightness in CCT mode but with a wider beam spread. The big difference is in HSI mode where the Nova looks nearly twice as bright as the gemini when using saturated colours. Impressive! The one area where it is not quite as precise as the gemini is in CCT adjustment (only +/- 100 increments) and green magenta adjustment (only 10% increments). Makes it a little harder to get an exact match with existing light. Other than that I am blown away at the value for money and it seems very well made! The lock off for example is a very sturdy chunk of metal, and the casing appears very durable. Awesome stuff.
Recently bought a P300C, and love it. What a fantastic light. Just enough power shot through a 4x4 1/4 grid to key most of my corporate stuff. I'll definitely be buying more of these.
@@pixl8 I am, though I’m considering going all-in on RGB light mats. The Nova is heavy, the stands you need are heavy, the rolling case is heavy. Fantastic light, and I still love it just as much, but it’s heavy and I’m not getting any younger.
Just want to comment that I really enjoy and appreciate your channel. I just ordered the Nova P300c in hopes that it will be my primary light for my RUclips channel indoor work (most of my work is outdoors, but I'm looking to balance that a bit more). I might be over-spending and even over-equipping, but I think this light on a good C stand, possibly with the softbox (when they are in stock again) combined with a cheap fill light and some MC and B7's for interest might do the trick. Your industrial and no-nonsense information is highly regarded here!
Aputure started off doing very affordable small lights with decent quality (for the price). Now they have moved their range to compete professionally I think they can afford to offer a complete range of accessories and price points, that represent value: high quality, pro features, ultra reliable and decent price, but price not the driving factor. Different markets for them.
G'day mate. Just wanted to suggest maybe adding a card to the video at the point the table comes up saying light measurements were taken at 1m. (I did think it was probably 3m) cards can be added to a video without changing the actual video. Love the channel btw fella.
Thanks for this. If they would sell this with a more sturdy mount I'd buy it that way, regardless of the extra money cause I know I'd have to buy it anyway after a few weeks of use by the sparks..... :)
Hi, great videos. We are setting up a permanent cove studio about 40' x40' and are looking for the most versatile pre-lit solution. would you recommend these lists for this type of setup?
I had a problem with a Nanlite tube clamp having an undersized baby pin and thus not securing in my Matthews grip heads. I emailed them about it and they acknowledged the issue with their stock at the time. I hope they have fixed that now as the form factor is fantastic for led tubes otherwise.
Thanks vm for this update. Did they give any word on updating how the unit fades between different light presets? I was thinking of buying used gemini but after your videos I'm considering picking one of these up. That color rendering is just so impressive

I remember that one of your videos you put your pavotube on a 4bank kinoflo cell? Can you buy only those cells somewhere that i could use with my nanlites or is there a better and cheaper option...i'll wait :)
Dont understand how Aputure, can say "we will see" when a professional Gaffer throws them a free bone of advice like the ball mount you suggested . Im also interested in how their customer support is going to be with these new units.
Manufacturing is unfortunately not strait forward, I know because I looked into making my own brand of accessories. The demand has to be very high before you can get the price low enough that people will want to buy. The cost of "Tooling" (setting up production) is unbelievable. Unless a couple of hundred people want the product, its not worth taking the chance on the first run.

Can you recommend some for me to look at? Thank you for any help that you can give me. Love the channel!

hi , sorry for my ignorance, I have this Light , I don't know how to use the mount in the back ( the rectangular mount thing), I would love to learn how to connect it thanks
For me the DMX capabilities of the skypanels, especially on things like fast dimming. On huge scale jobs where a desk operator would be working the DMX and Artnet capabilities of the skypanels are a must. Fire effect is another reason I won't get rid of my skypanels yet. I would go to one of their Facebook user groups and ask the question. Someone from Aputure will give you a solution. I only really use the CCT/HSI mode, and I haven't done a firmware update in a while.
@@gaffergear Thanks for your reply, and for the superb channel. I've learned so much for your videos. I'm not on Facebook but I'll ask my assistant (how old does that make me sound?!). I've also got two P600C and I've found the CRMX isn't working reliably on them - they flicker and change colour for no reason, but don't do this on wired DMX. Their DMX profile is correct though. Great shame the frequency selection isn't available on the DMX profile as I'm forever changing it when filming with the Veo 4K at 500 fps and above.
