Yeah he seemed really mean spirited towards John and Zoe and talked down to pretty much every tribe member behind their back. Like he even was ripping on Vecepia at some points.

Is it true that the reason why they didn't live at the Maraamu beach was because earlier in the episode, they discovered that skull and realized there was a burial ground on the beach that was sacred to the Maquesan peoples and they didn't want it disturbed? Because it definitely felt like, despite Rotu having that nice waterfall, everybody liked the Maraamu beach because it had a bunch of natural sources of food (fruit trees, crabs' nests, etc), while the Rotu beach only had those roots near the waterfall.
