I feel like eventually we are going to be just like the old boomers with their classic muscle cars at the local car shows. Except we will all have 80s/90s cars and they will be the new classics.
Some of the wealthier millennials who were lucky enough to have parents with the means will have some very very old cars eventually. Not me, but I'll be pulling up with a bike.
I was a teen in the 90's when the import car scene was really revving up, today its just not the same, the people and culture is all about social media content, people don't even have entertaining stories anymore, its pretty boring aside for the cars looking really good, no one has a good conversation just blown up egos, in the 90's it was so fun, a weekend event was super exciting, we drove our Intergas, Civics, 240sx, Supras, RX7, 300ZX, etc etc down to Englishtown NJ Raceway Park and had a blast, seeing all the new stuff, vendors, competitions, it was epic, just seeing other riders going down the NJ Turnpike to the event was mind blowing, we tagged along and rolled together no hate just love
@@tulmenkov yeah I was in High School then, we looked at street tuner magazines, bought disposable cameras, bunched up in half way built cars but no one cared, it was something special to see all the new things, today you'll will never get that experience because you see everything online first, we lived in an exciting time, I tell my kids all the time but they just don't get it
it’s painful to read this, i just started liking cars and i wanted the experience like this, clout sucks and i hate it, i want it to be back in the days now :(
@@FitmentIndustries I can really see that some places do have some passion but it’s almost like attention or monetarily motivated more Like how many times do guys flip flop around or try and break out in the newest wheels or wrap And stance cars my gawd that is entirely not for the car because it’s slow destruction of the car I mean do as you please but where does it come from other than trying to get attn for the car because it doesn’t perform and it doesn’t preserve the car Guess I’m old now
@@beradycavs i can attest to having oni camber on my sc300 is because i learned about 80s bosozoku culture and 90s japanese street racing lol it's costing too much money buying tires often so i'll be a bit more practical from now on, but i do it simply because i think it's cool that i can. i have friends who rush everything they do to their cars, then have to work twice to fix their mistake and do it right. i also have friends who just enjoy their cars, take their sweet time and put everything together nicely. just like with any group i wouldn't call tge car community as a collective "lame". after all, the doctrine of western civilization is that the individual is favored over the group.
I would say you guys have had a lot of the influence and change we see today. I remember, getting my first car, a TSX, and watching the so you want series about an integra, and from there my knowledge grew. I think the existence of your channel is definitely part of the “new scene”. So thank you:)
It dissapoints me how most people don't care unless you've done something crazy and made it super fast and ooo turbo flutter and wide body and camber so bad you go through 1 set of wheels a day. If you don't have those things the general internet really doesn't care about your car or the work you've done to your car.
@@TheFK8Life in the social aspect of things there is a sense of community in being an enthusiast and it seems as though if you don’t have a crazy expensive build or 800+ whp tire shredder the build you spent months and maybe years working on gets overlooked even though you know you like it there’s nothing like sharing the work you’ve done to a fellow enthusiast who can understand and appreciate certain aspects.
@@DonkeyPooo1 You are responsible fpr the community you associate with. When I started racing in my teens I found fellow racers who ended forming a club. We met weekly and discussed our cars, mods, plans and enlisted help for wrenching. We supported eachother on track days, cheered eachother on and pushed cars of we had to (blown motors) Not everyone liked our cars, our club or us personally - so what. We had eachother. 20+ years later we are still friends - oldee, kids and still building projects across the country. You are responsible for building your automotive tribe. Do not seek the approval of strangers - they dont care. Do you and the people who do take an interest probably share similar passions, tastes and goals. Befriend them - help them and in return they will do the same. Those are real bonds that last a lifetime. Getting recognition from people who dont give a rats ass about you is worthless. Cars are expensive - time consuming and dangerous. People go bankrupt, get killed or seriously injured alot. People not into cars will call it a waste of time - ignorance mostly. The tribe you form will ultimately fuel you - your goals and assist you in getting there. Your automotive journey is sort of like a lifelong quest.......in the beginning it may seem impossible., but thats where forming a tribe becomes most important. With car friends you will go very far as a team. Much further than you could ever go alone and having alot more fun along the way. Find your tribe
@@TheFK8Life all facts, I guess in a sense you just gotta do more searching to find the group you want to associate with. But we'll said, you should write a book 😂
While that might be true online, it definotely doesnt apply in person. People love my NA miata at meets even though its still very much a work in progress, theyd sit there talking to me for hours about it if i let them lol
I’m 19 and I absolutely enjoy looking at pictures and videos of what the tuner scene was like back in the 90’s and 2000’s there something about a DC2 integra or a fifth/sixth Gen civic with the bomex body kit, swapped front or rear taillight’s from Supra, the interior completely all done up, having the gauges on the pillar, all the sponsors on the side of the car, and having a custom stereo system in the trunk with a PS2 in the glove box looks so dope
Thats one this I miss. Back then people had to learn to build because bolt ons weren't custom. You had to weld and work fiberglass to build something original. Now, it's a race to ever bolt on in the market.
Because of this, I've noticed something rather sad with the car market. Cars that have big aftermarket support are now starting to move away from being affordable to teenagers like me, meanwhile cars that are actually cheap, most of them don't have decent aftermarket support. While I would like to start my car community journey with something like a 90's economy car, I can't say the same for many of the people around my age, they want to start with popular clout culture cars, but with prices hiking up, most of them can't afford those cars, and some of them will quit becoming car enthusiasts, while some others could fall for money traps because they wanted those cars that bad, it's sad. Really the saving grace for car enthusiasts here in my country (Malaysia) are local tuning shops, as international aftermarket companies don't bother with the Malaysian car enthusiast market. At least clout culture here isn't as big as it is in Western countries, but they're there. Businessmen started buying Ecoboost Mustangs mostly just to flex (they already couldn't afford the GT because of displacement regulations here), traders buy Lamborghini Uruses to mostly do the same thing, it's sad. Although one silver lining is that I can just start entering the car community here with a modded economy car, the bar is really low here. But the problem is getting worse day by day (coupled with the rise of EVs and how modifications on cars are being increasingly regulated), and I'm afraid for the possibility that future generations don't even want to be car enthusiasts and that my generation is pretty likely to be the last generation that can truly be enthused by cars, I don't want my eventual child to be left out of the car community because of the lack of a community...
Having a good group of people to share knowledge and help each others builds is the most crucial part to being happy in the car community I find. Enjoy what we have now before EV comes and kills the community for good 👎
check out mountain pass performance and tell me EV is going to be anything but a slight change from what we've always done. Hell, I've modded my damn onewheel power train more in the past 2 years than my car's. It's all just parts to make faster and customize, just like always.
imagine how I feel at 35 and seeing the amount of change over the last 20 years for me. All the more reason why I keep myself off of social media as much as possible. No individuality or true goals in mind when it comes to most builds and it shows. Only way any of my builds will end up on the internet now is if someone else takes photos or videos of it. I do not care about the trends
Same. A lot of these modern trends are honestly lame. I used to go to a lot of car meets 3 years ago but now, I hardly go to them anymore because I've lost half of my interest in it. Yeah I'll go to see some other types of quirky and actually good builds. On top of that, I have other hobbies that I want to enjoy and get more into. So for now, I've put my car hobby to the side until I decide to get back into it because I do it for myself and not for getting clout.
This is why I go to the track. Nothing ever changes there. Just a group of guys & gals trying to become better drivers, help each other, and push their cars. Lap times do the talking.
The “noob question, just search for it” problem still exists in fb groups and subreddits. And yeah, you search and find long drawn out shit that never really answers your question.
I remember going to Hot Import Nights in the early 2000s, it was the first time I had seen a MK4 Supra and R34 in the flesh. Back then you needed sponsors to get your car looking that damn good. And it had to be tht good if you wanted models taking pics from various companies with your car and the dream of seeing your build in your favorite magazine. It took a lot more hard work back then. I honestly think that being able to build a car and it actually be an investment making money for you on social media is pretty damn cool. You don't really need sponsors anymore unless you're racing but social media is also a great way to get them too. Back then you got chump change for winning at car shows to what you can potentially make on views shares and likes. Who have thought tht building a car could actually form a stream of passive revenue.
I remember when I was 10-11 begging my folks to buy either import tuner mags or super street mags every time I had to run errands with them just to see when car shows were coming close enough for me to go with them. Coming from south New Jersey. My mom took me to hot import nights back in 04, and I talked my dad to drive me to NOPI Nationals. Those shows were epic especially for a kid that loved cars and had no idea how much more there was to learn about the aftermarket scene
I'll be honest, I think for me the peak of the car scene was around maybe 2015 or so (NFS 2015 with the whole Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk thing may have had an effect on that). I'm 25 now and honestly, I remember the older Super Street mags and seeing all the crazy stuff in there and thinking "Yo that's so sick", now it's.. interesting. I completely agree with standing out 110%, and if you're new to the car scene, welcome! There really is good and bad in this community but never be afraid to ask for help! As for the veterans in this community, I believe that help should be given as much as possible! I say we embrace as much positive as we can. Wanna camber out your Honda Odyssey? Do it! Widebody a stock 1995 Toyota Corolla? Go for it. Make a fully built NB Miata for track racing? Hell yeah. There are a ton of flavors in the community, and even if there isnt a flavor, make one. Build your car for you. Much love!
Those ROCKET BUNNY and LIBERTY WALK kits are simply *inspired by the race cars of the past!* *Most race cars had riveted fenders to make it easy and quick to fit wider wheels/tires for the track because it was FUNCTION OVER FORM* On a street car it looks cheap and rather ugly... Unless you replace the whole fenders or actually mold it in to the car, it's not a real widebody! Back in the day it was properly done!
@@Kev27RS I completely understand and totally get where you're coming from! That'd actually be really cool to see if I'm being honest, an actual functional kit, maybe one day!
I remember seeing my neighbor roll up in a rocket bunny frs in 2015. I was like 14 years old and too chicken shit to ask about it. Big mistake on my end
@@xxxxyyyxxxx584 live and learn, ya know? 1st time I saw a Rocket Bunny kit myself was 2016 in New Mexico at an event called DesertFest. Beautiful bright blue paint, Seibon hood (or bonnet), beautiful build!
I really love how you brought up the point of the toxic environment. I feel like we are spoiled with too much good content and builds nowadays that new car enthusiasts like me would overestimate our ability and make stupid decisions. Fixing a car is HARD, let alone an entire build.
Thanks for the reminder that it's so much better now! That was a nice reminder. It's also a nice thing to note that builds can move faster than mine, without meaning that my build is slow.
Worst is when you show up to a car meet with a modified jdm icon and its really just a stance meet . Normal everyday run arounds that are just dropped to the ground
I love how you guy support the community to much!! You guys make me enjoy being a car guy, also I’m just ignoring negativity is the best way to go about life!!☯️🔵
I had a lot of hate buying my brz, mainly about it being slow, small, and a subaru. I honestly learned a lot on this car and I wouldn't change getting this car if I could. I honestly hope people realize it's more than horsepower, size, or brand.
Exactly horsepower is not everything, I'm Gen Z and most kids like to F with the engine immediately when putting your money into the suspension, Brakes, and semi to fully stripped interior really changes how the car handles and performance. People don't understand that underpowered cars like a Honda Si, Miata or Subaru BRZ can blow doors off some 500HP behemoth when it comes to corners. I've taken my own car a 1997 Celica Lift back I'm currently working on, and let me tell you its super light and nimble, loves ripping around corners like no tomorrow.
Most kids who immediately start throwing crap on the motor most likely don't know what they are doing. Cold air intakes sound cool yes, but overall they are really useless unless you get a tune and also depends where you place it in your engine bay. Plus the people who cry about if your car is a manual or stick shift or think they are better then everyone else cause they drive a stick shift are really annoying, its all personal preference, most automatic cars today are so well engineered they'll blow the doors off most manual cars or keep up with them just fine. BRZ's are really cool 😎 so don't let peoples stupid comments bring you down. The RUclipsr "Bladed Angel" talked quite a bit about how underestimated those BRZ's are actually and why they are not all that slow as others may think.
@@hydrohyperdrive8443 I love bladed angel, plus I just ordered a front and rear sway bar kit. My focus is handling because I honestly love driving fun not fast. I'm a gen z too 😅
I may not have had my car for long (got it back in mid '17) but I have been into cars since I could walk and since then I've noticed how so much has changed and truly it makes me wish I had been born much earlier so I could have gotten some of the cool cars that are now so expensive and out of reach for not only myself but many of us who appreciate them and honestly this is why I like basic run of the mill cars that no one cares about, because they stay cheap purely bc no one really cares about them and people who do aren't a dime a dozen like if I had an Accord. I've met so many people in the Camry community that are super cool and down to earth, it's how I met a long time friend who's been like a mentor to me on the platform and continues to help me out with things when I have tough situations I'm not familiar with. I feel like we're really gonna be the oldheads we used to talk so badly about, but now I see why so many of them have the mindset they do, because a lot of these builds and the reason people get into cars nowadays isn't for themselves or because the like cars, they do it because social media said it was cool and that it's a popular thing to do which has lead to the inflation (that was already there and bad to begin with) of enthusiast cars, gone are the days of a $2k clean and running S chassis, E36, or 300ZX and it truly makes me sad because the cars that are still within reach are still somewhat out of reach for someone working a basic job like myself
Love it. I jumped in a few years ago with Krispy and his rise up. Rolled over to LowCarMovie, then to Fitment Industries, followed by Hoonigan and Worthersee. Went from I like this to is there more? Bumped up to an Audi Q5. Lowered it after Alex told me how to get the flush fitment. Covid? No. Carvid. I caught it and I still have it. Learned a lot - and this wave continues - so content like this hits a familiar feeling with me. And I thought it was just me looking at how Larry Chen is grinding hard like he's getting paid for it (he is...). The car scene will never be the same!
Neons are great fun cars, I'll be getting a 2002 ES 5spd that my dad had as a daily/project and I plan on putting a SXT head on it before I build a new motor for the good ole shitbox
As an 11 year old interested in cars, I grew up in the time where cars get tuned alot, especially the 2f2f type scene. But now I get to grow up in the car scene where lowering your car then putting deepdish asf wheels is considered cool. I don’t really like it myself but I think it’s fine
Definitely putting my age out there by saying the only reason I even know about Fitment Industries is because I watched Alex’s photography tutorials years ago! Awesome level of growth from each and everyone of you fellas. It’s been a pleasure to watch. As for the automotive scene that ish is it’s own animal. Things have taken an accelerated development. I love and wish I could be make it more than just a REALLY expensive hobby. 😂🤙 Now go make more content! 💯
I feel you bro. My 1st car was a '84 suburu Gl 10 4wd then a '91 Saab turbo, '96BMW 740i, Now am all in Toyota's like my new Camry SE. But I will save to rebuild a original '90's Cressida or Supra.
People say people like cars as a trend as if its a bad thing, having a lot of new and young car enthusiasts is great. That's exactly what the scene needs. Everywhere I drive now high school kids talk to me about my car and I think its awesome
this video hits home, im 30 years old now and it sucked trying to find help on honda tech or iwsti, these were the equivalent of being in a modern warfare 2 lobby
It’s hard to find genuine moments when doing things at car meets but me and some friends did play tug of war with a Chevy Cruze so that was fun. I think it was 6 of us vs Cruze and I was the anchor lol Edit: the Cruze lost
It is crazy to look back and see how things have changed. I was 14 in 1994. Got my first car in 1999 at 19. It was a 2nd Gen Integra. I was 21 when the first Fast and Furious came out. I remember back in 1999-2000 going past the used car lot that sold muscle cars and seeing the car I wanted so bad. A 1969 Roadrunner! They had some nice ones around $20k. Seemed like so much money back then. The most computer exposure I had was my roommate would get on AOL chat rooms. Thought it was kinda neat I guess. Different than what I was used to. My first cell phone was the old school brick style Nokia phone that everyone had in 2000! Haha! Changing the body of the phone so it was clear and see through and you could make it light up on the inside! Was a damn fun time back then ! Delivered pizza and used an actual paper map back then to find where people lived. Doesn’t show houses though so you got to know how to figure that out too. Fun times back then ! Technology has a lot of cool things, but I also miss the days of no technology. Well not to the level of today’s.
For now on, im making “park and chill” car meets only for people who actually want to learn about cars and racing and drifting. Stop pulling up to meets in your moms stock Honda Odyssey and filming tik toks for attention, nobody gives a f*ck. And its those people who put neon underglow and anime stickers on their car and call it a “build”. What happened to liking cars for the motors, smells, sounds, history, racing, drifting, and tuning/building potential? Now the car scene is about getting attention and being trendy, just f*cking stop it.
I got interested in cars at the age of like 6 or 7 with midnight club and tokyo drift and i feel like people build their cars based on what the community wants to see not what they want for their car.
I remember last year a older guy was mad at me because my A3 8P was a “fake RS3” the cosmetic modifications on my car are inspired by the 8P RS3 and it makes me happy and also that’s my dream hot hatch~ Also to note my car has no RS3 badging so I’m not trying to force people it’s a real one, which it isn’t.
Nah I don't have expectations as a new car guy (previously car enthusiast) the car I'll get for myself I'll get suspension wheels and other cosmetic mods here and there to my taste, idc if it make it look bland/ridiculous I'll do what I like anyway
The car scene now sucks. I feel that is mainly stupid young kids that don't know what they're talking about but because they're good at running their mouth That makes up the scene.
@@OrrinWhitley It's not as bad as the car scene. The car scene is as getting worse and worse year by year. A good example If you don't small talk with someone about your car they gethey get very defensive about that and start to flip out. If you have a car that may come off as flashy people expect you to socialize with them and small talk with them regardless of they know you're not. The car scene these sucks. I love cars and working on cars but I don't bother whatsoever having a friend that likes cars because I know it's gonna be a train wreck
I feel like the car meet and social media platform culture has gotten quite bad. Especially here in Belgium where it's not just "a car meet", no, it's a "tuning meet" where the expectation is that your car "at least is stanced". However, at the grassroots racing events I've made some amazing friends, talking about what upgrades we should do, what cars could be fast, the best racing lines, checking out eachothers' cars, or just helping eachother out, even if just changing the street set over to the semis. Just talking function, and if you got some style along with that, that's cool too. Just a shame that these events don't happen weekly (or would be far too costly if they were).
This video speaks to me on a deeper level for 2 years I've had my sc300 my 14th car and overall nicest one I've ever owned simply because it's an SC. With steadily knocking things off my bucket list (i.e buying brand new wheels, brand new body kit, etc) to eventually going nat on the 2jz that came stock with the car to now finally trying to get it to run right. It takes time but I truly believe when it's finally going down the road sounding and looking the way I want it too. It'll be truly something special I don't give a fuck about clout. The SC has been a day one obtainable dream car since drifting it around maple Valley in forza motorsport 4. I'm building this car because it's all I've ever wanted Ives sacrificed everything to get it to where it's currently at. I dont come from a rich family and I don't have any money that I don't earn myself. It takes time and knowing and seeing the vision of what the end product will be it helps deter the people that talk down on my cars. I'm still here and I'm still standing I refuse to let anyone or anything get in my way. This life is yours. Own it.
I really do miss meeting at "our spot" every Wednesday after our shitty jobs in our pretty good cars tbh...and talking about a meet, and a burnout pad....On Saturday....at 1AM Not speaking again until we met at 1am at the destination..No police no clout nothing but the drive and the crew and the memories...remember ever one of my cars and car moments before social media...Now i barely remember my own meets and ones i attend...its so everyday now...when it used to be a real underground art
The number 1 and biggest thing is to be yourself and do what makes you happy. The "scene" will always evolve and rotate as time goes on. Trends from the past will re appear again, certain "one hit wonders" will phase out but as long as you build your car to make you happy thats all that matters. Doesnt matter what you drive. The "high school" phase of car building is what builds more character in you as a car enthusiast. Enjoy it! Enjoy the cringy moments, when you look back and realize, "did I really do that to a Tiburon?! hahah. It makes you grow and the lessons are always a reward! As far as views and likes. When I started my channel (not this account) there was sooooooo many worries and stresses about what to film, how to gain followers ASAP and make a name. After two years ive realized my best videos, and the ones that make me happiest, are the ones where I was myself. Builds take time. Thats the way it is. If people watch then thats amazing! but if not, I cant feel pressure or worried about how I wont gain followers because my car isnt up to scene standards, or that funds may not be there. When it comes to sponsorship, I cant stand when people flock around certain companies, or beg for free stuff over likes and views. The point of sponsorship is to gain a healthy relationship with a company that you look up to, and have a tremendous amount of respect for. How can you help each other? Make a great bond and have fun! Nothing better than chilling out at a show or track day with people that support you while supporting them. Team effort is way better than free parts, and you learn alot from companies when it comes to just having fun and enjoying your passions as one. Cheers
I grew up in the 90tys when it was just starting everyone's content was different than the other cause it was a different story on how they started. Now it's pretty much all the same material, cars, upgrades ect... Till this day I'm still a petrol enthusiast just do the local car meets and cars and coffee events. All that Hollywood stuff I'll pass on I experienced too many egos and privileged individuals that I think are not even car enthusiasts that's just my opinion and that's why I feel the car has changed. Truth 💯
People should stop fearing negativity. Negativity is normal and there should be no enforced positivity or suppressed negativity. There should just be honesty.
It is still like that on the forums thats why I got off of them. Really frustrating when you are trying to genuinely ask a question cause you already spent a week for 8 hours a day like it was your job perusing the forum for the answer.
I think the internet and especially social media after around 2013 kinda ruined car culture. Everyone is a copy cat and seems to seek validation from others.
Obviously I still cherish the hobby but for example, if you don't own a poster car or hero car, then your car is lame or you're a ricer for modifying an unusual car to modify
Yes it changed. BY A LOT. From sleeper cars to cars with a lot of big ass subwoofers to cars with underglows to cars with great builds and stickers everywhere to patina cars to cars with crazy bodykits and donks and lifted trucks to now (from muscles to JDM to EDM to KDM to stance ETC) It is crazy And then there's stanced Teslas (no I'm not mocking those builds it's just unnatural to see modified Teslas to me, but it grows on me coz it looks cool)
Bought my first car in 2011, 91 Jetta gli with a 2.0aba swap, used vw vortex to find it and then map quest to print out directions and then made my dad drive to a strangers house 2.5 hours away with out ever making phone conversation it was a wild time for sure but I think that’s what made it such a great scene cause if you wanted to be in it you had to actually put some amount of effort in
I'm 26. I got my driver's license 2 and half years ago. Didn't need it before. Started driving my grandma's old Ford Ka for the first 1,5 years. For almost a year now I'm driving my 2019 Civic Type R 🙃
i think the track/drift day drivers are the last type to be part of the old car community that still survived , no bullshit camber or crazy ass bulids , just fun and sometimes affordable cars going at it in the track
Car availability is really impacting it. Finding a 90s car that’s in good shape and not $$$$ is very tough. In the early 2000s there’s just less options that are compelling. Seems like the cheapest option can honestly be getting a newer car and possibly financing. Thankfully some manufactures are trying to please car enthusiasts after Dodge teasing hellcats at us. Im holding out and praying for a GR Corolla 😂
Like many others, you and I are unfortunate enough to be around this timeline witnessing the change of things. Might as well give it one last good squeeze before it dies
I remember when I lived in New York and shea stadium was still around the car shows that used to happen all summer was what got me into cars. The car scene today is toxic as hell. Not like it used to be.
In the 90's a lot of us drove around on cut springs. No computer technology. Not many resources to use. Basic basic shit. Enjoy bc you won't get it back
I hate to tell you this.... well, no I don't. As a 52 year-old viewer... the "back in my day" is inevitable, no matter how much you resist. Back in MY day, we did things for fun, not clicks.... considering we had no idea what clicks were. My high school didn't even get it's first computer until my senior year. God damn, I'm old..... 🤣🤣
I’ve been in the car scene for most of my life since I was 17, and I hate the direction it’s going. There’s no stories with cars anymore. Nobody can talk about why they love their specific car, what got them into their car, nobody branches out, nobody has anything to say about it. It’s because people aren’t buying cars they actually like, they just feel the need to get what everyone else has. They’re all just caught up on their own egos and trying to make themselves feel special. Try this: walk up to one of the 50 white/grey/black S550 Mustang owners at your local car meet, and ask them why they chose that car over anything else. I started getting into older Japanese motorcycles, and the enthusiasm is WAY different, because everyone who’s serious about it actually WANTS their bikes, not because they were pressured into them so they can “stay relevant”. There’s no fun in it anymore, and it makes me sad just thinking about it.
Meanwhile…I’m just wanting to make sure my 89k 2015 BMW M235i will last awhile 😅. Only thing that scares me about doing mods is my DD breaking and me being screwed lol.
all the cars from my area tends to be Jdm ricers, and i was talking about getting a 68 dart or a '56 ford f100, and holy crap everyone was going on about how bad those cars were i wanted, and how i should only buy jdm and not classics, (at lest where i am) everyone close to my age is so toxic about classics, i don't want to even be caught near them, so i just talk to the old guys, and the old guys teach you forgotten car building techniques this works for everything but, most people thinks their build is the only right way to do something and they think anyone who's different is wrong but honestly i would rather watch the guy who builds a one of body kit over 2 years then a guy who bolts on crap in 5 minutes and makes cringy videos (this is all my opinion so...)
im not saying all Jdm cars are rice just the ones in my area, so no complaining (i also know that my pfp is komi in a skyline and im saying i prefer muscle cars)

It dissapoints me how most people don't care unless you've done something crazy and made it super fast and ooo turbo flutter and wide body and camber so bad you go through 1 set of wheels a day. If you don't have those things the general internet really doesn't care about your car or the work you've done to your car.
Why would you care what others think about your build? The car is for you - not them
@@TheFK8Life in the social aspect of things there is a sense of community in being an enthusiast and it seems as though if you don’t have a crazy expensive build or 800+ whp tire shredder the build you spent months and maybe years working on gets overlooked even though you know you like it there’s nothing like sharing the work you’ve done to a fellow enthusiast who can understand and appreciate certain aspects.
@@DonkeyPooo1 You are responsible fpr the community you associate with. When I started racing in my teens I found fellow racers who ended forming a club. We met weekly and discussed our cars, mods, plans and enlisted help for wrenching.
We supported eachother on track days, cheered eachother on and pushed cars of we had to (blown motors)
Not everyone liked our cars, our club or us personally - so what.

No, all that looked cool back then not now.
Its a classic time! Definitely one of the best. -Edgar
But the problem is getting worse day by day (coupled with the rise of EVs and how modifications on cars are being increasingly regulated), and I'm afraid for the possibility that future generations don't even want to be car enthusiasts and that my generation is pretty likely to be the last generation that can truly be enthused by cars, I don't want my eventual child to be left out of the car community because of the lack of a community...
ngl i love learning about the old scene and comparing it to the new one dis is so cool and i had no idea how different it was keep it up
The scene was most definitely different back then. Its cool to see the transformation as time passes! -Edgar
Having a good group of people to share knowledge and help each others builds is the most crucial part to being happy in the car community I find. Enjoy what we have now before EV comes and kills the community for good 👎
Hopefully it can transcend to the EV community too when the time comes! We can only hope. 🤞🤞🤞 -Edgar
I don’t think it will die, the love for cars is very big and deep. I believe we will continue to have a thriving community far into the EV future.
Hopefully hydrogen cars/ synthetic fuel cars will bring us back to combustion engines
check out mountain pass performance and tell me EV is going to be anything but a slight change from what we've always done.
Nothing wrong with that! 🙂 -Edgar
Also 35, you're not seeing good builds because you're not looking. You're too young to sound that old! 😄
This is why I go to the track. Nothing ever changes there. Just a group of guys & gals trying to become better drivers, help each other, and push their cars. Lap times do the talking.
I’ve noticed that! it’s a great atmosphere. -Edgar
Times are wild! -Edgar
This is so dang wholesome. Hell yeah bud! -Edgar
Much love!
Love this. 100% agree! -Edgar
Those ROCKET BUNNY and LIBERTY WALK kits are simply *inspired by the race cars of the past!*
*Most race cars had riveted fenders to make it easy and quick to fit wider wheels/tires for the track because it was FUNCTION OVER FORM*
On a street car it looks cheap and rather ugly...

O god I remember going on the vw forums when I had my old golf. So much easier to find answers and help building things these days.
I completely agree everything you said about cars scenes.. great video bro 😎 👍🏾🇵🇭🇺🇸

I love this. Wish we had more of this which would be AWESOME and informative to everyone just getting into the scene. -Edgar
Some people just cant handle a tastefully done car. -Edgar
I was interested in the car scene before Fast & Furious was a movie series. I use to read Tuner Magazine and Euro Magazine. Forget the exact names. 😰😭
Whoo, you are talking at least '99-'00. Good times I must say
Wooof, classic magazines! Thats a throwback for sure. -Edgar
Nah I don't have expectations as a new car guy (previously car enthusiast) the car I'll get for myself I'll get suspension wheels and other cosmetic mods here and there to my taste, idc if it make it look bland/ridiculous I'll do what I like anyway
Always what you like first! Clout isn’t worth it. -Edgar
The car scene now sucks. I feel that is mainly stupid young kids that don't know what they're talking about but because they're good at running their mouth That makes up the scene.
I think most of it is the internet, just look at any popular video game and you see the same stuff.

9x outta 10 its the dudes that pay a shop to build their car that do most of the gatekeeping, like how you gon gatekeep something you dont even do 🤔
I feel like the car meet and social media platform culture has gotten quite bad.
Grassroots events are greats. Drift events are the best place to meet new homies in my experience! -Edgar
Own it.
One thing doesn’t change: Manual elitists still hound on people who like cars but drive automatic transmission.
This one I will never understand! -Edgar
Cheers
This sums up the scene situation pretty well
Glad we nailed it! -Edgar

The OG guides of the time! -Edgar
Build your car for you is the most important words of this video!!!
really awesome thoughtful vid
Thanks homie! 🙏🏽 appreciate the support. -Edgar
2015 was a blast! 🔥
As a Rap fan also country fan, we've been feeling like this for decades.
Oh man.. y’all remember Nelly and Tim McGraw?! Banger. -Edgar
Nothing will top 90s car culture going into the early 00s. Decals on the door panels is goat
BY A LOT. From sleeper cars to cars with a lot of big ass subwoofers to cars with underglows to cars with great builds and stickers everywhere to patina cars to cars with crazy bodykits and donks and lifted trucks to now (from muscles to JDM to EDM to KDM to stance ETC) It is crazy
And then there's stanced Teslas (no I'm not mocking those builds it's just unnatural to see modified Teslas to me, but it grows on me coz it looks cool)
And its just going to continue to change! Lot of trends popping up. -Edgar
@@FitmentIndustries Exactly! Can't wait to see what's in future for the car scene will be in a few years 🤔
Bought my first car in 2011, 91 Jetta gli with a 2.0aba swap, used vw vortex to find it and then map quest to print out directions and then made my dad drive to a strangers house 2.5 hours away with out ever making phone conversation it was a wild time for sure but I think that’s what made it such a great scene cause if you wanted to be in it you had to actually put some amount of effort in
🤝🤝🤝 -Edgar
I'm 26. I got my driver's license 2 and half years ago. Didn't need it before.
Started driving my grandma's old Ford Ka for the first 1,5 years.
For almost a year now I'm driving my 2019 Civic Type R 🙃
What an upgrade! -Edgar
@@FitmentIndustries yep ^^ my mother used to drive CRXs' and had an Integra Type R. Miss that thing a lot.
Nice video !!! I am front Fort lauderdale and I would love to go to a car show any idea how to find out when and where are happening?
Check out Facebook events! There should be plenty on there or ask any fellow homies you may know in the car scene, reach out! -Edgar
can’t wait until the gr corolla is finally released so y’all can do a vid of “so you want” for it😭 i wanna hear alex go crazy
Cant wait to HOPEFULLY pick one up! 🤞🤞🤞 lets hope markups arent crazy! -Edgar
@@FitmentIndustries in my 2¢, it’ll change the hatch game forever! 🔥💫
i think the track/drift day drivers are the last type to be part of the old car community that still survived , no bullshit camber or crazy ass bulids , just fun and sometimes affordable cars going at it in the track
Truly is tough, im hoping the GR Corolla doesnt skyrocket right off the bat! -Edgar
Thank you Gels for saying bless you, I just sneezed about 3-4 times in a row.
Hes gotchu! 👌👌👌 -Edgar
The accuracy of the fourms experience! Yes. I don't want to search. None of the old threads ever answer my question.
Feeling old? I just saw an EG hatch with an antique plate today!
Woof… that’s impressive! -Edgar
Like many others, you and I are unfortunate enough to be around this timeline witnessing the change of things. Might as well give it one last good squeeze before it dies
Going until I can’t no mo’ 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾 -Edgar
I remember when I lived in New York and shea stadium was still around the car shows that used to happen all summer was what got me into cars. The car scene today is toxic as hell. Not like it used to be.
Wtf I swear I sneezed before I started this video . Thanks gels 🙏
😂👏🏾👏🏾 -Edgar
In the 90's a lot of us drove around on cut springs. No computer technology. Not many resources to use. Basic basic shit. Enjoy bc you won't get it back
Facts do it how you want because the real memories only stay with you
this is the realest video ive ever seen
I hate to tell you this.... well, no I don't. As a 52 year-old viewer... the "back in my day" is inevitable, no matter how much you resist. Back in MY day, we did things for fun, not clicks.... considering we had no idea what clicks were. My high school didn't even get it's first computer until my senior year. God damn, I'm old..... 🤣🤣
Ayeee what’s up OG! 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽 -Edgar
Man the car scene where I’m at is wild. There are three clubs that are (fill in the blank) Midnight Club 🤣 🤦♂️ HOW SWAY!!!!!
Hey that’s my car from the slammedenuff wildwood show 😅 I got the red sti 😬
Let’s go homie! We going to see you again ?! -Edgar
Yessir that’s the plan, definitely a must go to show 💪🏻
Dude your 26 lol iam 40 been in the JDM car scene awhile let me tell ya the 90s were awesome i was a teen back then.
Very nice video.. just do ur own thing.. ignore the haters..
Always doing our thang! 🤠🤠🤠 -Edgar
Forums and those tuner books from like Autozone and Advanced Auto Parts
Meanwhile…I’m just wanting to make sure my 89k 2015 BMW M235i will last awhile 😅. Only thing that scares me about doing mods is my DD breaking and me being screwed lol.
It'll be fineee! -Edgar
all the cars from my area tends to be Jdm ricers, and i was talking about getting a 68 dart or a '56 ford f100, and holy crap everyone was going on about how bad those cars were i wanted, and how i should only buy jdm and not classics, (at lest where i am) everyone close to my age is so toxic about classics, i don't want to even be caught near them, so i just talk to the old guys, and the old guys teach you forgotten car building techniques
this works for everything but, most people thinks their build is the only right way to do something and they think anyone who's different is wrong
but honestly i would rather watch the guy who builds a one of body kit over 2 years then a guy who bolts on crap in 5 minutes and makes cringy videos
(this is all my opinion so...)
im not saying all Jdm cars are rice just the ones in my area, so no complaining (i also know that my pfp is komi in a skyline and im saying i prefer muscle cars)
I dislike the fact that most of the car scene is populated by undrivable stance builds😞
That stache gives you a super troopers vibe.
😂😂😂😂 -Edgar
